Title: CBF Fantasy Cricket 2015 - World Cup Edition
Post by: arsenal123 on January 27, 2015, 01:04:12 PM
Thought this should have its own thread.

https://fantasy.icc-cricket.com/

Code is 4314.  CBF Fantasy.

Please let me know on this thread once you have requested to join so I can add you to the group.

Should any sponsors be willing to put anything in as prizes of some sort, please let myself/admins know.

Good to see it gathering momentum, what do we think should be the main prize for the overall winner?

might be a bit of a stretch for a forum sponsor to donate one of them as a prize but you never know!

I will see what the forum can offer as a prize... we need to have at a good proportion of members entering though please... we haven't had a big take up on competitions recently so it would be good to get some momentum into this.

Thanks for setting this up

I think a bat for the administrator of the competition and then a load of rubbish for the winners would be agreed by all wouldn't it?!  ;)

When you finalise your team it'll add it to the league of the team you support and you can also add the code 4314 and you'll need to wait for approval that'll get you into the CBF league

Nope, apparently you can only have one chairperson.  I will keep looking back on the group a couple of times a day but don't panic if I haven't approved you for a few hours, suffice to say I'll get round to it eventually!

I will post up each time I have approved a load of newbies.

Am I the only one who thinks the £1 million budget is far too big? In fantasy football competitions if you want several of the big players you have to massively compromise yet in this I've got plenty of big names in the team and still have a ton of money left?

I agree, i put together my team with some budget picks (as you normally need to) and i ended up swapping most of them out.

Ended up swapping Grant Elliott & Ed Joyce for Virat Kohli & AB De Villiers!

There doesn't seem to be much creativity needed really....

But you have substitutions throughout the tournament. So you have to be able to chop and change. With a small budget you can't keep doing that easily.

Just because they have big money, doesn't mean they will perform. Have to be shrewd with picks and timings of substitutions.

Yeah I was the same. There are only a few players above 100k and you have enough money that you can probably pick them all and still not have to go to the affiliates!

Applied to join the league, feel I've let the team name down though by not picking De Kock..

Have you ever played Fantasy Football before? If you wanted a decent striker you HAD to pick atleast one dreadful player who would definitely never get a game, here assembling a team of 11 really good players is easy...

But with fantasy football, substitutions are done weekly where each team plays at least once.

This is substitution between games, so a whole different type of tactic. You need the big money to trade the decent players in for each game.

So are we building a squad or just the playing 11? I just built an 11 with 1 Million. I am still lost on the substitution part.

With the sort of numbers that are signing up we could all PayPal you a couple of quid each towards a bat from one of the sponsors. You could end up with something decent for the start of the season, just thinking out loud really.

The other way of doing it would be for all CBF members to put in 2quid. 120 would be a good contribution to a sponsor willing to donate the difference between a prize they could offer and the 120. Might make it easier for them to make a prize happen.

Okay, 61 members now.

I'm minded to agree about the £2 each 'entry fee' shall we call it?  Then if one of the sponsors can sort stuff at cost price, only people who have paid the £2 can win the overall prize at the end.  Would anyone be happy to administer this/the sponsors be happy to sort?

i think this is a good idea. its not obligatory to pay the money they just cant win the big prize at the end x

0! Icc will drop the maximum depth of a bat by 5mm which will suddenly stop all sixes being hit ever......

yep am definitely happy to pay £2 - for the chance to win something from the sponsors

just let me know how and where to etc...

if we are saying that only members that pay the £2 can win, then i am presuming that money must be in before the 1st match?

Seeing as we only have 3 hours until the 1st game teams will Prob need to be in before that o avoid missing out on points.

I'll speak to admin now and work out who payment can be made too (thanks for volunteering @WalkingWicket37 ) and we can then go about sourcing some prizes thereafter as this can be done whilst the tournament is ongoing.

As mentioned earlier anyone who doesn't pay won't be eligible to win said prizes to ensure fairness to everyone who does pay.

74 teams entered and 1 pending request.

Hotting up already with some big Runs from Finch and a hat-trick from Finn for those that had those 2 in their teams.

If everyone chips in £2 then we will have £150 to spend on some prizes for the top 3 finishers at the end of the tournament. The more people that pay the better the prizes :)

When paying Nick it would be useful to list your forum username + team name in the notes section so it easier to track who has paid then too.

So top 3 teams are after Day 1

1) Sams team (Sam)
2) H2O (Tejas Patel)
3) Larrikans (Larry Bets)

From the looks of it these guys changed their team between match 1 and match 2.

I understand that. There is also a limit of how many changes (42)one can do in Stage 1. I already made lot of changes for day 2 but then that leaves me with 35 subs for remaining games.

According to Nick approx 14 people have paid so far out of the 76 that have entered.

The plan is to get prizes for the top 3 finishers that are likely to be:-

1st. Bat
2nd. Batting Pads
3rd. Batting Gloves

Obviously this is dependent upon getting entry fee's from the majority of people otherwise it will be based upon what the prize pot allows us to source.

I haven't paid.  But shall.

But if I'd realised you have to change players after every game. Not sure I'd have bothered signing up.

The winner won't be the one who picked a good side. It'll be the one who has the time and effort to change there team every night.

I thought tournament mode and match mode were seperate competitions. I looked at the team of the person in 1st place and it was all players who had yet to play. This is too convoluted, I can't change my team before every game... so thats a major disadvantage right??

Or is there a seperate scoring thingy for tournament mode?

Not really, he's used most of his subs. Once the subs run out the points scoring will slow (I think you have to stick with one your XI without subs). Plenty of opportunity to sneak a few points in the meantime - I stuck a couple in for the Zim game last night. I think the key is to get the right players in for upcoming games but not so many you run out of subs.

Title: Re: CBF Fantasy Cricket 2015 - World Cup Edition
Post by: uknsaunders on February 19, 2015, 11:33:13 AM
During the course of the tournament, you can constantly make changes to your Tournament Mode squad to make sure that you always have a few players in every match.

Any substitutions you make will come into effect in the next match. Effectively, the squad you have at the start of each ICC Cricket World Cup match is the one that will earn points for that match.

Before Match 1, you can make as many changes as you want.
Between Match 1 and Match 21 (Stage 1), you are allowed to make 42 substitutions.
After Stage 1 ends, you can make unlimited subs to your squad.
Between Match 22 and Match 42 (Stage 2), you are allowed to make 42 substitutions.
After Stage 2 ends, you can make unlimited subs to your squad.
Between Quarter Final 1 and Quarter Final 4 (Stage 3), you are allowed to make 18 substitutions.
After Stage 3 ends, you can again make unlimited subs to your squad.
Between Semi Final 1 and the Final (Stage 4), you can make 10 substitutions.

My patented substitute technique paying dividends, now just outside the top 10 with 2 games of stage 1 to go. Had a couple of big scoring days and have all 11 players featuring in the Aus/NZ game tonight. Be gutted if the other 11 do the scoring lol, just wish I had worked out the subs a bit sooner.

Like this, being able to change your team so that all players are playing in the single match, thats silly. Ideally I'd like to see a limit on the amount of players allowed from each country, perhaps limit it to 2 or 3, just like in football fantasy leagues.

Just to make everyone aware that it's unlimted subs up until the England game starts - ie. stage 2, then it's back to 42 subs for the next 21 games.

I haven't looked since the day I made the team, once someone mentioned you had to do subs etc. can I get my £2 back as I wouldn't have entered if I'd have known :)

Looks like the winner is sorted, can't see anybody overhauling The Thunderbolts. Next 2 spots are pretty much sorted as well. Still a race on for 4th place.

Did anyone else spend some time working out how to maximise their subs for the Final 3 games? I'll have all 11 spots from the finalists, so might keep 4th. Those who chipped in for the paid version of the league, still all to play for...

Nothing, apart from bragging rights.

Everybody had the chance to chip in but only 15 did, so it's a league within a league for those guys.

Tell me about it. Was so busy changing my daughters team for her that I forgot to POWER player Dilshan on my team but had done on hers :-(
Was the game were he made a ton. Still happy as after week one was 56th. Looks like I could finish 2 nd again to the wife and daughter...
Still at least son gets to clean my car as he well back:-P
Been a great idea as kept both my kids interested in cricket over the winter...

I had a slow start and didn't change my team for the first week until I read the rules! Caught the bug and it peaked the other night when I spent an hour working out how to use my 10 subs efficiently for the last 3 games:-

NZ v SA - picked 9 players, then 2 from Aus
Aus v India swapped 6 players out (4 from the losing team) and replaced them with 2 from Aus AND 4 from India
Final - leave in the 3 NZ players and the 4 players from the winner team from Aus/India = 7, then add back in 4 subs from the 2 finalists

Coverage for the 3 games = 28 players (9+8+11) out of 33 possible spots.

Bit sad really, most of the time I spent working out if I could cover more spots in the semi's.
