Well we have been on here just under a year officially what do people want to see more ov from us.
We have a few plans in the pipeline like a few demo bats coming up to forum members and maybe a couple more specials before the season (well if I have anything to do with it we will)
But seriously what do people want to see I want the doctor talking williow more and stuff.
-
Anything and everything to do with the art of 'pressing' pls
-
Roger that Rob hope your well
-
Always interested in reading articles about willow and bat making. Love seeing pictures from 'behind the scenes' of clefts and bat being made. Obviously competitions etc will never ever be a bad thing!
-
A detailed video about bat making, from when you receive the cleft to the final finished bat, with everything in between!
-
Yep we are looking at showing you a video the whole process and agree we should showcase our clefts more indeed.
comp good idea spot on mate cheers

Will do it will be in parts but agree people need to know the levels we go to like weightin grips and scuff sheets.
Agreed
-
Never thought about weighing grips, but I guess it's the small details that make you a cut above or not!
-
Introduce us to the rest of the team, not just the big guns. The guys stickering bats or splicing them etc you know? Always good to see proper behind the scenes stuff.

Oh yes grips we have at times had to cut a professional players scuff sheet smaller to meet his weight spec as well.
We weighted ever handle that has gone into a bat because they vary so much and we can get to within .02 of a ounce what you asked for that is the natural variant but handles have to be worked out to to fit within each bat and need to be thought about as soon as the bat comes off the cnc.

100 per cent agree I could introduce myslef but would bore you yes your right a little insight to who does what including our two batmakers and the apprentices
Also they have Cake Tuesday and chippy Friday so I could expand this and tell you all which day to go to join in I prefer Friday's because they all eat the cake before I ever arrive. Streaky sister makes a mean cake apparently and works Tuesday
-
If we bring a cake on a Tuesday do we get discount?

Can't promise but give it a go mate you never know
On another side I will be holding another forum day there soon(if there is interest) because although I love the forum and commenting on our stuff the place is brilliant proper cricket badgers retreat I'm like a kid at a candy shop

I think a design a bat session with streaky. Maybe once a month do a live session with streaky and his CAD tool, with a different type of bat designed each month. The live part is really forum members chipping in with tweaks and suggestions.

That would be great to see, even if it's a one off

Ohh I like that! He can explain the thinking behind different shapes and why you might do certain things. Obviously don't give away the trade secrets but it would be good to see!
-
It would educate members into the compromises a batmaker has to make
-
Think it a really good idea.

Video reviews of crowne bats from balance to pickup and ping before they will be shipped out.

Balance and pick up is a personal thing mate but would like to do more videos but over 400 bats went out through the door last month so it would be hard to video them all but your point is well taken.
-
Thanks pal. 400 crownes sold last month?

No mate bats we do try our best with videos but mainly send pictures as you know well mate videos well we shall see we do some reviews from time to time but it would be hard to find the time to do them all.
But will put them through to the suggestions meetings as I like the idea mate and wish I was there all the time I would do them all
Agreed it is a area to look into
-
I would quite like to see a few making of the bats processes, with images of different bats throughout.
-
A detailed video of how the cad design actually works and taking a design from beginning to end would be great
-
As above, ideally not shot on an iphone and something longer than 7 seconds.....
-
Thanks this thread or parts has been forwarded to the design meeting.
-
Dave I'd like to know the relationship between the numbering of a cleft (around 400) and its moisture content please.
-
One of the things we are looking into is brining out Handled and machine shaped cleft where the shoulders and toes are cut so you can kind of try your hand at finishing a bat. Would come as a little kit maybe with some twine as well.

Sounds a good idea for us badgers! (Although some of us may have already tried to one degree or another)
Hand sanding is quite therapeutic, and once you get the hang of it hand binding isn't too bad but does take a while!

That sounds excellent. Then someone like me in Australia can sand and make final minor weight adjustments before stickering. It truly makes the bat a fully customer spec'd bat that is truly a B3. You'd need to call it something new as its not the same as a bespoke and you'd want to distinguish it from other bats. Warranty would be interesting too. Great idea.

I was wondering what the latest was on this video ? excited to see it once its up etc
-
In process mate with pre season in the uk it hard to find the time but we shall get them up
-
great - yeah I know its the most busy time for bat makers pre season - look forward to seeing it when its finished
-
A little bit off topic, sorry. I nearly ordered a bat today from yourselves, especially when I seen this " All orders in the UK are subject to 20% VAT which is included in our pricing.
All other orders are VAT free"
Went through the checkout process and the VAT was still applied even though I live in France???, So did not go through with order.
-
@Stumper do they even play cricket in France? ;)
-
The surprising answer is yes http://www.cricket-sw-france.org/5.html (http://www.cricket-sw-france.org/5.html)
I play for Toulouse, standard is not so bad, although pitches can be ropey, full of expats, Indians, sri lankans, Bangladeshis kiwis, Australians and of course Brits. We get around 4 or 5 touring clubs a season mainly from the UK, and sometimes the Netherlands, Belguim etc. 1 of our young players is in the French full squad although that is no big deal lol.
We ourselves tour every year, normally to the UK, last season we went to Nottingham and played a game in Derbyshire against a club called Belper on the Saturday, then a game in Nottingham forget the Clubs name but was a great tea and a lovely ground.
