What or how do you treat your bat and when. I get a refurb at the end of every other season. And keep it in a bat case in the garage away fomr heat and light.
What about you?
-
Leave em in my room and fix em when they break!
-
when i get it i knock it in and oil if then anti scuff it a shoe goo the toe and then a refurb when it needs it! or when i want the current stickers!!!! ;D
-
Same as above except keep my match bat away from my bag so it doesn't get damaged, also wrap the toe of the bat with bat tape to protect it, its also a sort of tradition!!
-
Spare bedroom for me and then leave the bat in the sun for an entire day before i use it.

Bit controversial!? Doesn't that dry the wood out?
-
A bit stupid nozza dont you think?
-
Well it may sound stupid to us... but maybe it does something for him.
Wait till he comes back and explains before you say things like that please 8)
-
o yeah and i keep mine in a padded bat cover
-
I knew people would disagree.
Leo that is why i do it. it has been sitting in my closet all winter and one day in the sun dries out the moisture. I then next day oil it and it is good for the season.
-
makes sense noz,
I just oil it or sometimes sand some rough edges off. and then leave them where i see fit. usually somewhere annoying to my family. ;D ;D ;D.
-
Haha, same. Usually in a doorway or something! ;D
-
Lying across the doorway or in the shower! lol :P :P
-
Too far noz...
-
Ha ha ha just because you do it :P
-
clean down the face and remove the scuff sheet, clean the toe and then store away in a clean dry room

lol my dad hates me when it comes to looking after my cricket bats. My Hunts County Edge CC was bought brand new, I took the stickers off and put Ballistic ones on and I thought it looked tacky so I took them off too. I then used white spirit (VERY RISKY BUSINESS!) to remove the glue marks and I have had anti scuffs on and off about 3 times. I sand it down after every couple of 100 runs and re-oil it if it looks dry/brittle. I have just ordered some Kahuna stickers for it and am now debating whether to go Stanford Style and spray it black too???
As for my Fusion Superbest, to be honest I haven't really done anything with it apart from light throwdowns in the year I've had it.
I have vowed not to mess about with my new Hunts County Custom though but I'm not sure how long that will last!
So as a rule of thumb I sand/oil/do silly things to my bats for the sake of it.
One thing I would like to do in future though is label my bats all the same.
-
I just leave mine in my bedroom all winter in the corner and then get it refurbed.
-
i keep mine up the loft in the winter then in season i either leave em in the porch or the garage
-
Never refurb a bat which has served me well, if it is cracking up, put some fibreglass tape over the cracks. Don't use scuff sheets on my Fusion's either, as I know they are great bats - I leave the scuff sheets on the branded bats I am unsure about - As they are easier to clean up for resale.
Would be interesting to see if I left a bat at a dead weight in the airing cupboard over the winter months, to see if the density changes.
