I've just taken delivery of my new Master 1000 and thought I'd stick some pics of it on here before it has been oiled and knocked in, enjoy!
I bought this bat from Cricmart and yes I know they have been discussed on CBF before and some people may not see eye to eye with them but from my personal experience I can't say a bad word at all about them, Swat had a great range of bats to choose from and had good quality pictures so I could see what I was buying and the communication was excellent and all topped of with a super speedy delivery :D
So I was kinda looking for and SS Master after seeing a few on CBF but I wasn't gonna rush into buying one but rather taking my time and waiting for the right one to come and I think I've done just that and I'm really happy I did buy one, the best thing is that it only cost me £57 inc delivery (which I think is a bit of a steal)!
I've lightly tapped it up and it sounds good off the middle however I feel it needs a good knocking in and hopefully it'll get better with time. As for the toe it sounds dead as a dodo due to the duckbill shape and lack of wood down there. Most of my bats have chunky toe's and spines running right into the toe so I was curious to have a bat with a slightly different shape. I have to say the profile is really good with minimal concaving so fingers crossed this translates into a good bat.
Like Cam I'm debating taking the Master 1000 sticker off the face as it does look good (as do all the stickers) but I'll be putting up some photos in the coming weeks once its ready to play and you can see whether I've taken it off or not ;) One final thing is how skinny and narrow the handle is compared to other bats I have, I may have to put 3 grips which is unheard of for me. Anyways enough of me rambling, I hope you like the pics I know I do :)

Looks good value for £57

You got a great looking bat for the price, I hope it plays well for you.
Looks as if it is one that has had the TON stamps inked in, so watch out when oiling or if playing in wet conditions as they have been known to run.
I agree on the customer service, I found Swat very helpful and patient with all my questions and requests for pictures. I have just about finished knocking my 7000 in now and hopefully will get a chance to use it for the first time this weekend - feels great and I have added a purple toe guard to match the 7000 sticker colour (not sure if it will last but it looks good) :)

Yeah I'm debating putting a toe guard and scuff sheet on, I probs will as this bat will be my T20/Mid-week bat and it's guaranteed to be wet in those matches!

Lovely bat for the price, I still think the lower range SS offerings are up there with anyone when it comes to value for money. You just need to search a bit any you'll get a gem like this.
I put a scuff sheet on mine but didn't bother with a toe guard. I put a layer of PVA glue on the toe to (hopefully) keep the moisture out. If it works or not it's a lot easier to apply and remove than a proper toe guard ;)

That looks like a steal for £57!

Well 57.27 to be precise haha :D

At £57 it was a bargain, at £57.27 not so much... ;)

Lovely bit of wood mate

Looks very good

Did you have to pay for the bat coffin thingy separately of was it included?? If included that's amazing pricing

Yeah the camouflage bag and extra grips came included with the bat! I'm slightly miffed as one of the zippers snapped during transit but the other is still fine so I can get into the bag. I still can't believe how much I payed for it haha :D

how does it go? I'm still trying to work out the drawback of a £57 bat like this!

Hmmm I can't say yet tbh, It needs knocked in and played with to say for certain. From just bouncing a ball on it the response seems good but not amazingly pingy. I'll be making comments about it over the season on how it plays. I'm not sure how SS grade there bats whether its just on appearance or a mixture of both.
-
I've asked them to find me one in 2.7 or 2.8, if the grains are decent like this I don't think I could resist

Mine taps up well but isn't by any means a trampoline. It has improved during the knocking in process, and with a bit of playing in I'm sure it will perform very well. I just need to actually have a hit with it when I'm able to play again.
As for the drawbacks for the cost:
You don't get to play with it before you buy, you're purchasing on dead weight and trusting someone else.
No returns - The cost to send it back makes it pointless
Potential damage in transit (but that's always the case)
What if customs hack it up
-
Very nice bat for 57... shoes cost more than that.

Yep have to agree with this, I was dreading Customs taking a drill to the bat just like they did with Simmons bat :( but luckily they never touched it.

Wow did UK customs really do that to someones overseas order?
Was it just bad luck on their part or did it come from somewhere known for contraband smuggling?
-
Naaa haha :D that's what the US Customs do to your bat if you enter their country, I've never heard of UK Customs doing that but you never know.
Here's the article about it: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/cricket/28711774 (http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/cricket/28711774)

Such a shame, looks a lovely piece of willow!

Oh, ok, glad to hear wasnt UK customs.
I can imagine US customs being interested in items coming from the caribbean and probably scoffed at the idea that it was a bat as it isnt round like all the bats they use ;)
I'm surprised they didnt cut open a few pads as well to see what was in the knee roll....
-
looks a steal at that price. amazing grains for a 1000
-
Think I persuaded the captain to get one of these along with myself after he had a net with my ss sir richards. He couldn't believe the size for the weight the bat was.I may have to sell off my ss blast to finance the master.
-
So I've oiled it and done about 2hrs knocking it in and it has improved a fair bit tbh, the toe isnt as dead any more and the middle is pinging a lot better. Another couple of hours and it'll be ready for scuff sheet and toe guard. I'm still over the moon with my purchase and it being a bargain.
-
So I thought I'd do a little update on the bat. Its been oiled, knocked in, shoe goo'd, scuff sheet and the edges have been taped up. Its not seen any nets as of yet but hopefully that'll soon change. A few people have asked about the 'ping' so I've also uploaded a quick video of me tapping it up with a brand new Morrant Crown ball, so see for yourself but I can say it got better as I knocked it it. Finally I've also uploaded a few pics of my first attempt at shoe gooing a bat, I think I could have done better but its a learning experience and I'll know for next time. I hope this is of use to people, night all!

looks good. I made my shoegoo toe thicker. Knocking in a SS Gladiator for someone ATM and the profiles are identical with my master 2000, perhaps 1/2 mm less concave on the Gladiator and 13 grains instead of 6-7. Pressed the same. Toes as thick as each other. Same cameo cover, but also includes a bat sock made of the stuff they put sunglasses in. Much stiffer willow. If I closed my eyes and picked up each bat id not know which was which.
