Afternoon All,
The new 2016 Gray-Nicolls bats can now be viewed on our website: http://www.itsjustcricket.co.uk/gray-nicolls-m6 (http://www.itsjustcricket.co.uk/gray-nicolls-m6)
The eagle eyed amongst you will notice that it's not the complete range - we have only listed what we are planning to stock pre-Christmas - but can get our grubby mitts on anything of theirs when it becomes available next month. We will also be getting some junior bats before Christmas but I haven't got those up on the site just yet.
We are taking pre-orders now, so if you spot something you like, or are interested in a grade/bat that isn't listed, please let us know. Likewise if you have any queries at all about the range! :) You could get your bat as soon as they come out (likely to be mid-late November) when we will be making our next trip to Robertsbridge, so Christmas presents should be considered! ;) We can handpick one especially for you when we visit if you pre-order here: http://www.itsjustcricket.co.uk/cricket-bats-c17/senior-cricket-bats-c18/deposit-for-new-2016-cricket-bat-of-your-choice-hand-picked-p779 (http://www.itsjustcricket.co.uk/cricket-bats-c17/senior-cricket-bats-c18/deposit-for-new-2016-cricket-bat-of-your-choice-hand-picked-p779)
As always, we only require an £80 deposit upfront to secure this service, so they are a bit more affordable than normal when you order this way! :)
Thanks,
Paul
P.S. All pre-orders received in October will get FREE KNOCKING-IN!
P.P.S. All pre-orders received before October 16th will also get a (CBF EXCLUSIVE) early bird discount of 10%!
-
That's a really good deal @ItsJustCricket - nice to see a discount for us keyboard warriors :)
keyboard warriors can still be early birds, so why not?! ;)

I'm a sucker for a retro bat so the GN500 is mighty tempting. Hopefully they get the stickers in the scoops right. The first Dynadrive re-releases had awful misaligned stickers which did my OCD head in...

the description for the Legend says: "Full Convex Profile - ensures a very wide sweet spot". that is not correct, is it? Looks quite conCAVED in the pics (and from what we've seen in the past)

Expect a Pre order from me Paul :D

good point. they seen to vary. We tend to only pick the full ones, much like the one we reviewed back in May, so felt that would be a better description. At least for us anyway..

think they are painted in, not stickered, Vincent...

One question - the LITE option ones says grade 2 and they are only available till weight 2-9. So grade 2/3 will not be coming in heavier options ?
-
I'm getting very tempted by the GN500.Can I justify another bat? I guess we will know by the 16th....

I fancy a GN but would like to know what the quality of wood is like. It is the old catch 22 situation. Some bats I have seen haven't looked great for their grade.

to be honest, overall it's not the best, but there are always gems to be found and we have a good track record of finding them when we visit! Just ask our GN customers!

yes, but only in the 4 and 5 star grades instead. We can get these too, Amit, if required...

Hi Paul, could I be able to pay the full amount a week before Christmas and still pay the deposit now???

Gotta be honest the only GN bats that compare favourably with the kind of bats people on here have become accustomed to are the custom made ones retailers like Uzi and Vitas get hold of. Literally worlds apart from the stock off the shelf jobs. I bought an E41 Asad had made and it is an absolute cannon. It barely fitted into the bat cave of my bag it was so huge and only weighed about 2.11. Likewise with a dynadrive he had at the same time, I agonised over which one to buy as they were such stunning bits of wood, the standard issue models I've seen of the same bats were significantly poorer. But you get what you pay for. (If you go through a good retailer such as the chaps found on the forum).

Yes, but we cannot send you the bat until we have received the full amount.

I have heard very good things about the custom made ones from Uzi and Vitas, but this doesn't mean that the "off the shelf" Gray-Nicolls bats are inferior. That being said, it can often take quite a while to find the ones we would rate worthy of the given grades, especially in Players and above. I remember a particular instance this year with the F18s (I really didn't rate their Test grade ones).
Still, because we do spend quite a lot of time looking through them, and handpick every single Gray-Nicolls bat we stock, it does make a difference.

I'n not meaning to be harsh on them and I' m sure the ones you hand pick are very decent but the ones I've seen that are standard LE grade and then a custom stickered up as an LE, well they were just chalk and cheese. But you really do pay a premium for them and should expect nothing less for that kind of dough. I'd personally be very disappointed if I'd spent £400 and got what they offer as a 'Test' bat, you say yourself you weren't that impressed with bats you saw in that grade so it really is hit and miss which it shouldn't be for that money.

I completely agree with you, and this is the main reason we bother to handpick them in the first place! :)

I'm interested in the F18 500 light. There does however seem to be big discrepancies over its description. You have it listed as grade 2, but other websites have it as grade 3. Also some say mid middle and others say its a high middle. Could you let me know which is correct?
-
Hi mate,
Gray Nics, like many companies, don't always release the published grades of the bats, but based on our experience we think they are Grade 2. Certainly, the ones that we hand pick are - check our twitter for a photo of a similar Omega 500 Light - looks very clean and very straight, prominent grains. In terms of shape, I'd put them as a high middle - they are higher than mid for sure! It means the pick up is just a dream! Don't forget the 10% early bird discount AND free knocking in!

Don't forget, guys, this is the last week for the 10% early bird discount - deposits are needed by Friday for you to secure this saving on a new, handpicked GN bat.

I've succumbed to the pressure and placed my order for a GN500 :D

Just a bump on this one - the last day for the 10% pre-order discount! Any order received by 11:59pm tonight will qualify, and free knocking in too, so get involved!
