ENGLAND WIN THE TOSS AND WILL BAT. HALLELUJAH.
EDIT - Admin splitting the topic
-
Oh FFS
-
OMG :/
-
Exactly why he cant be considered for test team for a good while
-
Wow. One failure means everything??
Anyway are they playing on concrete?
-
To be fair to Roy, that was a peach - if you watch the replay it nipped back a fair bit, not a nice one to face 2nd ball up!
-
Exactly why he cant be considered for test team for a good while
That's probably why he doesn't open in first class! Lad's still a work in progress though.
Ramiz Raja already has me just wishing they'd put Bumble on...
-
not one failure but I am worried about the ball coming back in with roy's technique
I think he is good enough o sort it out but needs to be given time and I hope they do as hales and roy could be a good long term partnership
-
Anyways Pakistan have a new strip
-
I'm just gonna turn this off
-
Well, the wheels are coming off here rather quicker than I expected.
-
The apocalypse is imminent.
Root got 0.
-
They should drop Root, he's gone 10 innings in all formats without a ton, he's clearly in awful nick............... :D
-
Telly going off now
-
Back to being pathetic then
-
Ye of little faith - just hang on for a bit all you Moaning Myrtles!!
-
Mohammed Irfan is 11 feet 25 inches tall
how are you supposed to see it out of the hand?
-
just turned on it seems ive missed all of englands batting.... just caught the hales dismissal no conviction of foot movement and hes the next test opener - apparently anyway
-
Sod it, we've got David Willey at 10 - might as well lose a few early!
-
Mohammed Irfan is 11 feet 25 inches tall
how are you supposed to see it out of the hand?
Think the bigger question is how is James Taylor meant to see it out the hand!
-
Eoin Morgan is our bastion of stability. Maybe...
-
could be a few no balls here as irfans normal length has got to be a bouncer to Taylor
-
Morgan's playing some lovely shots here
-
See Dicky - it's not all doom and gloom!
(he says, holding his breath)
-
decent partnership but i cant help be distracted by how awful taylors bat looks! not liking the new powerbow stickers at all
-
Nice to see Taylor has a poppy on his collar today, can't see one on Morgan though.
-
theyre built into the shirt the ecb either tweeted or instagrammed morgans shirt with it on the collar earlier
-
ok so im mistaken cant see one on morgans either :/
-
we're on fire lads!! come on JT and Morgs!
I refuse to believe someone with that much talent(Morgs) cannot still be our Number 6 in Tests. Ive seen him bat at Middlesex and he makes it look so easy it's scary.
-
Impressive recovery, somehow we're on course for the average 250...
-
Take a bow James Taylor
-
morgan gone!!!!
-
could be a few no balls here as irfans normal length has got to be a bouncer to Taylor
just robbed this pic from the bbc website (http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/11/11/44807d4000e885f67f716023b738c3dc.jpg)
-
buttler gone!!! run out, cant buy a run still! kinda feel for him here though
-
that's just a crazy pic
his head is only waist high
Butler has done something wrong to a gypsy woman somewhere to have this much bad luck
-
only saving grace is Willey is not a bad no.10 so batting to come
-
now taylor gone!!! great catch, spinners causing trouble yet again!!!
-
I go out for lunch and two wickets have gone, and then Taylor goes. Ah.
-
if only we had a top order batsmen who could play spin and in a bit of form hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
-
off. wheels. falling.
-
Right whoever said 250 we will have it now!
Haha come on lads! :)
-
I reckon 220 all out, and we bowl them out 20 short!
-
if we get early wickets a chance if not we will get hammered
heres hoping willey sticks it up them with both
-
We really do know how to collapse
-
willey bowled 213-9
-
we are gonna need something special with the ball(again).
Just fancy Willey to get stuck in after he got hit in the chest. If he is anything like his dad he will be fired up and ready to barge thru a brick wall
-
Big shift needed from both openers here. Root being the 6 bowler if we need him.
We'll probably need 7
-
TOPPERS!
-
the collapse starts here
I hope
-
get in early doors bit of nibble game of two halves new cherry etc etc
COME ON ENGLAND!!! :) :) :) :) :)
-
AND ANOTHER ONE LADS...
-
And another!!
Very pleased he's coming to Hampshire
-
What a leave! Hmm... this is a good start!
-
topley bowling really nicely here!!!
-
Topley's got the yips all of a sudden
-
cant help but feel i mistimed that comment :/ sorry guys!
-
That is a horrific review
-
That's out in cricket
-
phew glad that LBW was not given...ok we want Hafeez out but if he's middled the life out of it we can't have league umpires copying the telly and giving it out, we wont have any chance to score runs
'I just hit that for 4 umps' 'sorry you're out off you go and don't argue'
-
another one!
left armers... love to have them on your team, other than that a total nightmare :)
-
Ahh - here come the spinners to tie things down!
-
We are losing this cricket match
-
pakistan had a shocker... lost a wicket to an england spinner!!!!
-
Our slow bowlers are currently just not good enough at this level. More pies than pukka.
I've got time for Rashid I really have but he only needs to work on 3 things. His pace his line and his length........
As I type, that's a shocker of a dismissal. Us club players would be embarrassed by that
-
THE BEARD THAT IS FEARED
it's a bit late thou.....
can we pull this out of the fire
-
MY KINGDOM, MY KINGDOM FOR JAMES TREDWELL!!!!!!!!
He must have porked someone pretty high up at the ECB's Wife, not to be getting picked ahead of this shower of muck. Really could do with someone helping me out on what he did wrong. not to get selected.
-

Probably went for a round of golf with KP once

That's the reason they'll never go back to Carbs. Spoke out after he was dropped didn't he
-

Always though it played a part in Giles being overlooked for the coaches job when Moores got it again. One minute Giles was cert for it then he was gone. He never made a secret of wanting KP in the team

we would of won in the tests if Treadwell would of played. the wickets turned
all we wanted was someone able to land it consistently in the right place and let some spin and some not spin.
i'm not sure what we have at the moment but I fancy a bowl to be honest
-
shocking review compounded by that shocker from the umpire!!! not sure how he thinks thats pad?
-

Don't think it got within a foot of his leg! Kick the stumps down holding-style.
-
overall poor performance but lets try and take the positives, well positive.
Reece Topley bowled nicely and got a few good wickets
I'd have to say on todays form a spinner should be dropped for liam plunkett but england wont do that as it makes sense
-
Im afraid...lads....we(the mighty england!) cannot carry two spinners,if its ragging 360 degrees we still have to put the seamers in..or we would had broad anderson and wood not gone home
At the least plunkett must come in for one of them
-
Rashid concerns me. I don't think he will get a good player of spin out or bowl enough balls in the right area. Agree with the commentators, he probably needs a bit more energy and a bit quicker. It s just to easy for batsman to wait and rock back.

What happened to the fearless cricket crap we had to hear all summer!
Lad called Kev looks in decent form!
-
They showed an interesting pitch map for Rashid. Seemingly he bowled pretty good areas, but it seems there was little margin for error for him

Isn't bowling at the stumps enough for me his stock ball turns away from off stump, by regularly pitching outside the off stump it's removed the chance of a bowled or lbw. Occasionally there is fine as a set up for a googly. He was a threat in the 1st test as bowled at the stumps. It would also make his long hops slightly less of a free hit. He needs to bowl a fraction quicker too, they too much time to play him. Having said all that I like him and there's a lot to work with and as he's 27 he's cos at least 10 years as a top class spinner available to him

I think you've hit the nail on the head there. He doesn't bowl at the stumps and doesn bowl quick enough.
If the ball isn't going to hit the timbers and you have plebty of time, its virtually a free hit at that level.
-
Roy's technique or lack of exposed (early doors is when you most use technique after all)
Root made an error
Hales awful shot for an opener.. Heaven forbid he plays tests with a technique like that.
Not good for England.
Nice to see Morgan continuing some form, taylor too. Fell for butler this once in fairness but Ali with bat and ball is going backwards
-
Is Fat Samit in the ODI squad?
-
Is Fat Samit in the ODI squad?
Samit Fatel? Don't believe we've taken a spare spinner, which is bizarre considering we're in the UAE.
-

Do the England management just get the team to hold out their feet and then get them to shoot them?
-
Big boned samit is not in the odi squad he was just there for the tests.
Which is a bit odd considering hes an excellent one day player for Notts
-
The way Vaughn was belting the ball today, he may be your best bet for cooks opening partner
-

I agree with most of this - i think his average speed is around 48mph which is very very slow, if he could add another 5mph onto that he'd cause a few more problems - similarly, i'd like to see him bowl more of an off-middle line in conditions that spin (moving to an off stump line in those that don't) - for me that would just open up more possibilities
like you've mentioned, he's only 27 so hopefully they invest some time into him and you'd hope he'd benefit from the spin camps they're putting on

5mph is 5mph.. Be nice if broad or Anderson could add 5mph on
-
Moeen managed to put 5mph on his bowling action pretty easily after starting international cricket. Bring in Kumar Darmasena as spin coach!

Not sure we should be using moeen Ali as a point prover.. He wasn't good enough to begin with and has got worse
-
Swanny didn't look in too bad form over in the states. still better than the filth rashid and Ali have been serving up!

saw him bowl in the help for heroes t20 at the Oval and he bowled a mean spell there as well
-

Replace Ali and Rashid with saqi and swann
-
Don't worry lads, we'll win today.
-
We won the toss again?! What is this?!
-
Batting first and unchanged. Surprised Woakes stays in, long time without a wicket.
-
So, will England score more or less in their 50 overs than Davey Warner managed on the first day of a test match...
-
Well, this is better than Wednesday
-
I hope Hales actually tries to thump a few, that's what he can do and why he is in the team. There's no difference prodding to the slips or trying to hit it out of the ground, you're still out-might as well have a go..
that's the new era right?
-
Never change, Jase
-
I think a Roy and Morgan bats are kippax saw morgan had the stamp on his earlier in the week they certainly sound very nice indeed
-
Yasir, meet Jason
-
Great start so far from the lads
-
And that right there is my only slight gripe with Roy, looks great plays really well but can't seem to convert starts into big scores, I'm sure he'll get it right sooner rather than later but it is a bit frustrating!
-
Get in Alex. Patient knock and got his rewards...
-
Good work Mr Hales - I hope this is the start of something beautiful!!!
-
Would love for him to all Martin Guptill on it, nice patient first 100 then just go beserk haha!
-
Well batted Alex Hales.
The lad has so much talent, get him playing all 3 formats for the next few years!
-
Yeah top knock but we gotta defend it.whats a good score? 300 if morgan and taylor get going
-
Oh well, but great knock. Come on Titch.
-
C'mon boys, lets have smashy-smashy, bang-bang time!!
-
I know titch can hit but got to be
Butler
Ali
Taylor
Now with 5 to go
-
Time to push Willey up the order a little, don't think Taylor will bat here. Very disappointing if we don't get 300.
-
Why send Taylor in
Wiley and Ali big hitters
We are happy with this score I bet
-
Been too much dancing around the crease from Root/Morgan/Buttler, you know wide yorkers are coming so why back away?
-
Good death bowling but I wish we'd just send our big hitters in with 4 overs left
-
I simply cant get over how badly we use Willey in a batting sense. Far too good for number 10 and in the final 10 overs is the ideal man to ping it. Imagine him and Buttler together
-
Love me some Willey
-
And he gets Hafeez!
-
WE DO LIKE A BIT OF LEFT ARM !!
:)
-
Who loves double-Willey?????????????????
Who wants more Willey action?
-
England love their Willey swinging!
-
I like England cricket
-
Go on Woakes!
pitched leg hit the off bail at 80mph
like to see Mushtaq come up with a name for that.
-
This is good.
-
This is where emotional investment in sports pays off
-
Batting first and unchanged. Surprised Woakes stays in, long time without a wicket.
I stand corrected!
-
Even Adil's getting involved
-
If Pakistan win from here, they will deserve it!!
Good toss to win to be fair!
-
From experience it can only be a matter of time before Anwar tries to launch one into row Z.
-
CATS=WICKETS
-
"Ali to Sarfraz Ahmed, OUT, comes charging down the pitch, slogs to leg - and picks out the fielder in the deep! Sarfraz has a brain fart and hands his wicket to Moeen! He was going so well but tried to force it, just after losing his partner"
Sarfraz Ahmed c sub (CJ Jordan) b Ali 26 (26b 3x4 0x6) SR: 100.00
You have to respect any commentary that uses the phrase 'brain fart' :D
-
Didn't even realise it was on today!
Just checking the scorecard now. Is it me or does Ali seem to be bowling a little better than Rashid today?
-
according to the commentary its his best spell all tour
-
If I was the Pakistan coach they'd be getting a serious roasting during the break for those run outs!
-
Hmm...this batting display and the run outs just doesn't look right to me.
-
Hmm...this batting display and the run outs just doesn't look right to me.
Careful now!! :D
-
Cricket is fantastic
-
Has Inzy been advising on running between the wickets? ???
-
Ever since Nasser went out here
coincidence??
-
Hat trick ball for overturned umps decisions??
-
Shame Root dropped the simple catch when Riaz was on 18! He gifted him a few runs there and they would have been all out for well under 200!
-
First ball to Roy is a 4, lovely.
-
Oh dear, out to a full toss.
2 down early, England trying to make a game of this
-
Hmm...this batting display and the run outs just doesn't look right to me.
well..the world's number 2 batsman just got out to a full toss - I guess this doesn't "look right" to you either
-
well..the world's number 2 batsman just got out to a full toss - I guess this doesn't "look right" to you either
Is he from Pak? :D ;)
-
Lets be fair here, unless Pakistan are steam rolling a side, someone on this forum always has to bring up the likely hood of some match fixing. It's a forum fad(remember folks Pakistan are far superior to anybody and only lose by choice........)
Other fads are. Asking ijc if they have hand picked everything in a joke.
Asking if a bat is storm damaged.
Asking if a bat is bleached.
Referring to vids of Stuart broad(England's biggest a hole) to prove Aussies aren't a holes.
We are a repetitive bunch us forum folk.
-
I'm sticking my head above the parapet and saying this, we are seeing the decline of Joe Root? It's been all down hill since New Balance came on the scene :D
-
You forgot asking if a bat is made by SS ;)
-
Is he from Pak? :D ;)
Yorkshire
-
We are making hard work of this!
-
England being England
-
um...all jokes about match fixing aside...WHAT exactly did morgan do there? just let the ball hit the stumps!
-
THIS IS GONNA GET BUM-SQUEAKY!
-
Anyone else jump with that six and say
"That wasn't expected"
Out of no where
-
'You dont win anything with kids'
Oh it's JT
-
I love James Taylor
-
This is why I have been a titch fan for a long time
-
Pak fans leaving the ground
-
Lovely six for his half century
-
Well batted jt Lovely 50
The fact that many pundits seem to think jt will be out when stokes comes back is ridicolous!!
He should be first on team sheet.
-
Can we ditch Rashid for SA so we keep Taylor? Spin is overrated.
Hope Buttler can get 50 as well...
-
Taylor is a good player,if the selectors spent a bit more time on the forum he would of been picked a while back
:)
We will only play one of Ali or rashid in SA and prob one of Barstow/butler so there's a space in the test side. Might be bells last tour too....
-
Thoroughly enjoy it when Buttler just lofts it like that...
Good game.
-
England win toss and bat, unchanged lineup.
Come on boyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyys
-
Been reasonably low scoring affairs the last couple of games, love to see us set a monster target here!
-
36-0 after 7
Feeling like we're gonna eff the estimates up and score some runs
-
Hales with a big swipe. Well lent back and trying to put through cow.
Should have put that through the off .
1 down. Root time
-
Feels weird that Hales is gone before Roy, hah.
Come on Rooty
-
Compton in the one dayers anyone?
-
just kidding
:)
-
http://youtu.be/G78EVouR-yI (http://youtu.be/G78EVouR-yI)
-
Well batted me roy. More of the same please.
-
3 edges on trot form Roy. Riding his luck there.
-
He's playing with fire here...
-
Compton in the one dayers anyone?
Smacks it about when he wants to!
Don't know what it is with Roy and tensing up when he gets over 50 for England, hopefully Rooteh can calm him through to a big score.
-
Roy is still an inexperienced player we gotta give these young guys time to get used to it....
Seems to me whenever ive seen him bat he has a confidence/arrogance which will stand him in good stead
I reckon he has 'it' ....whatever it is! :)
-
Come on Jason, please do this
-
300 should be on the card with some explosive batsmen (and a free license) to come!
But we have been here before and ended up falling 30-50 runs short of where we should have been!
Would be nice to actually break through for once!!
-
Rooooooooooooooooooooooooooot
-
Ramiz - "Irfan takes 5 minutes to bend down and pick up the ball. From 70 to 0 gravity". Gibberish!
-
Irfan surely has to be the tallest current cricket player at this level?
7 foot 1?
-
Well done Roy!!
-
GET IN
-
Really chuffed for Roy & Hales this series. Really starting to look the part.
-
ton up son well batted
-
If we don't get 300 we want shooting
-
Oh well! Gives others a chance to see how they bat now!
He's played his part!
-
Oh well. So so happy for him though, been a long time coming.
Come on Jos!
-
If Jason Roy has a good season for Surrey (ideally opening the batting in Division 1), then surely he'll be worth a look in the Test side? Big fan, and personally I think he looks 'technically' better than Hales.
Hales could of course get 500 runs in SA and it won't matter...
-
Why do umpires feel the need to review decisions like that?
-
I still think that Hales is a better, more consistent batsman than Roy to be honest.
-
Roy needs a decent bat sponsor, the Slazenger stickers look a bit two-bob. If you got a Slaz you really need to go retro with the V12 and V6 back-in-the-day
Pete will remember with me, the rest of you could well be 20 years too young to remember they were CLASS

The V's were good but I've got a soft spot for this V800, had some scooping at the shoulders, got my 1st ton with one (http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/11/20/286e87c3125fefb2df2aca4a0eaf7bd0.jpg)
-
lovely bat the V800 yes.....
If memory is right you had the ones shown there, but also a yellow and blue combination, same style, on the V800
ive used one...lovely bat
:)
-
This is the Jos I know and love!
-
A reverse ramp? Shot lad
-
This is the Jos I know and love!
Is he playing himself back into the test team?
-
At this point in the game he can just say 'sod it', it's great
-
I'm about to get naked with shots like this
-
Great to see him smashing it around again! For the record, how stacked is Taylor?!
-
I chuffing love Jos
-
Great entertainment this, fingers crossed he can bat through.
-
Anwar Ali spent two years as our pro and would regularly clean people up with huge inswingers at real pace.
Jos Buttler has just reverse swept him for 4 :o
-
From what TMS is saying, Buttler is flying. Can't wait to see some highlights of it.
-
JB De Villiers
-
Butler-made in Somerset
no really made in Somerset.... :)
LAUNCH IT SON
-
He already has the 2 fastest ODI tons as well, why not make it 3?
-
Ali is ok but think I would have been tempted to have Willey in before Ali - that may have been fun for the last 3 overs!!
-
Think they want Jos to get a ton so send in a single getter...willey isn't that player
-
This is absolutely insane.
-
CHAMPION
-
Is it me or does Buttler seem to have found some form?
-
Is it me or does Buttler seem to have found some form?
He's certainly started to find the gaps again...
-
He already has the 2 fastest ODI tons as well, why not make it 3?
He's not just made it 3, he's smashed the previous 2. 46 ball ton... Wow.
-
That is some total! Daunting for Pakistan to look at and try and chase!
If they chase that total down then I will tip my hat and say, "Well done Gentlemen" It would need to be an epic chase.
-

There's only gaps in the stands! Sensational hitting

What an innings.
150 off the last 12 - why weren't we doing this at the world cup.
-
Balance of the team loads better
Plus they are thinking on their feet by changing the order which we never used to do
-

It's a quality bit of captaincy that, Jos just got 50 in the last game, Morgan must know if he gets going again it will send his confidence sky high,so he steps aside himself
I think that's class
-
so who makes Buttler's bats then? ;-)
-
50-100 in 16 balls!!
-
he gets them off pete hosk
-
he gets them off pete hosk
Pete's rejects I'd heard.
-
Great from Buttler!!
Looks like he could've smashed the Pakistani bowlers round the ground batting with a toothpick once he found his top gear!!
-
that's very special.can't wait to see the highlights tonight.
-
Pakistan have started well with their chase.
See how this goes! Looks the kind of wicket where you need to bowl decent lines are you get punished!
-
Get Hafeez now and job done...
-
would it be too much of a risk to try Rooty for a couple of overs? The other two are taking a hammering!
-
They need someone who bowls filthy left arm drifters...
-
These awards are getting ridiculous now...
-
'Trusted player of the series' was a new highlight, up there with most colourful
-

As it's an away series the rights are owned by the PCB, maybe check Ten Sports for something.
Still buzzing off today, what a win.

Also you're mad if you don't love this photo, kinda sums up how I feel about this ODI side going forward

D. Warner's century celebratory jump is the most photogenic. He must've received coaching.

Other sources calling bullshit on the mail story incidentally. May have been dodgy courtsiding going on but not matchfixing apparently.
-
Read the news. Dodgy betting 3rd odi. 17 sec delay in TV. 3 suicidal run outs etc.
This sounds like rubbish. Eoin Morgan plays 5 feet inside the line of the ball to get bowled...but nobody looking at that as "suspicious". Root doesn't bother dragging his foot back and gets stumped to the part time leg spin of az.ali - no more or less "suspicious" than a couple of run outs.
Also, from one the articles: "Officials were tipped off after the toss in Sharjah that the illegal Indian betting market, worth billions of dollars per game, was expecting Pakistan to underperform."
Pakistan is ranked EIGTH in the world - OF COURSE they are expected to underperform.
-
@brokenbat => Wouldn't be the first time for a pakistani player to fix a match ...
Betting news aside, Jos batting was a delight to watch. I couldn't watch the match live, but managed to check out the full ball by ball replay (www.willow.tv (http://www.willow.tv) => paid membership). He managed to smack every single ball right in the middle of his sweet spot. Pakistan bowlers were a bit too wayward and their fielders are standing still like a rock !

Look at that bat grip hanging off the top of the handle though? Village. :D

Some excellent fielding in the highlights...
-
Yummy! I like the lad - bats very much like me.
-
Sam Billings has clearly found a shape that he likes.
I wonder why GN aren't selling (or if they are selling it, marketing) the Nemesis shape any more.

-
It's called the powerbow nemesis. Part of the powerbow range. Is still available. Hence the stickers on his bats.
I'd presume billings using it is the only reasons it's still available in its one grade version.
-
Billings has been using the shape for a couple of years.
-
Hopefully Vince gets a game today
-
Vince gets a game. Odd buttler rested when he's just got back into form
-
That's a strange team choice! But I guess it gives everyone a run-out?
-
Don't understand why Buttler/Willey/Root aren't playing when they'll be in the starting World Cup squad. Also don't understand Jordan playing either, but I never will...
-
They are off to a great start
-
They are off to a great start
+1
There was no need for Roy to go for another boundary in that over. They had already scored 11 runs in that over. Hales tried playing flick for the second time with a leading edge and Afridi managed to snap up a catch. Another loss of head moment. Mooen - Don't know what to say.
Vince and Morgan are scoring sensibly now, lets see ...
-
Ridiculous not playing Buttler, been out of form for a while but bounced back with an excellent 40+ then that staggering ton, T20 gives him a pressure free hit out so makes no sense to "rest" him.
Liking this from Vince though, makes it look so easy at times.
-
Morgan nearly spoons one straight to mid wicket after a nice boundary
-
I love the Pakistan policy of debuts.
Hands one to a 39 year old. How is that going to help the future of their teams?
-
Has Vince done enough there to put his hat in the ring to be a regular starter? I reckon so. If Rashid is playing as your spinner is Ali needed over someone like Vince? Especially with Root being a handy T20 bowler?
-
BILLINGS WITH THE KILLINGS
-
Billings is awesome. Morgan is playing the supporting role very well
-
Billings going through the repertoire! Trouble is, who does he get in the team for when Buttler is gonna play? Scooped six off Wahab just now was a hell of a shot!
-
Have to admit I've not seen enough of Billings to understand the hype but this has been very impressive.
-

Captain Afridi wants to win the world T-20 and he will give an opportunity to a 39 y/o if that means Afridi becoming a cup winning captain.
-
Billings and Vince have proved their value to the team. Excellent and sensible batting by both of them. Former gives an explosive finish while the latter established a stable base for fireworks at the end.
I would say this is an excellent move by england to try new players. Even if these don't have a place right now, who knows what will happen in future. If someone is off-form during T20 WC, they would make an excellent replacement.
-
Really pleased for Sam, he's a top bloke. When he got 210 playing for my old clubs 1's in the Kent prem I got 1 playing in the 4s on the same day. Since that day our careers have followed very similar paths.....
-
buttler would of caught that lol
-
PLUNKETT LIVES
-
Comical run-out! We were missing something up until this point.
-
How long did that take to decide who was out!
-
3rd umpire just checking on the photo finish there.
-
That run out was about as village as it gets!
-
Best runout review I've ever seen.
-
This over from Jordan, Jesus Christ
-
So on quick bouncy tracks
Plunkett stays home but Jordan goes
Genius
-
Cant believe we dont need plunkett as a back up quick in SA
Unfathomable decision,he has proper wheels
-
So Plunkett has bowled a cracking spell and shown what a talent he is.
Jordan has bowled a mixture of long hops and wides.
Guess who's going on the next Tour...
-
Making hard work of this, Jordan continues to unimpress.
-
At least Topley has seemingly bailed us out of it...
-
Cant believe we dont need plunkett as a back up quick in SA

unfortunately he plays for the wrong county.
-
I whole-heartedly agree, and I am a softy-southerner. He's a wholehearted performer with some proper nip. He can hold a bat too. He;s streets ahead of Jordan, certainly in 5 day cricket. Jordan can have his fun in the short format stuff - but Kerplunko should be in the test squad.
Stupid James Whittaker!
-
Jordan is absolute toilet I'm afraid, shouldn't be anywhere near the England team in any format with the amount of bowlers we have to choose from. Not particularly quick, or accurate, and doesn't do anything unusual with the ball. Doesn't keep runs down and doesn't take a lot of wickets!
-
I'd have Plunkett in front of Jordan in all forms, in fact I'd have boycotts stick of rhubarb in front of Jordan!
-

The only thing he is good at is fielding. Rest I personally agree with you though. Guy shouldn't ever represent England unless he drastically improves.
-
Why did they have 4 Man of the match awards
-
Big changes!
Morgan out buttler captains.
Root Willey and woakes also in. Ali, Jordan and topley out.
Hopefully Jordan out forever.
-
With the exception of Morgan, this looks a much stronger team. Good to see Willey carded to come in higher!
-
Chris Jordan. The new Jade Dernbach!
-
Chris Jordan. The new Jade Dernbach!
I'd rather have Dernbach!

Anyone see what Morgan said on the bbc?
Basically they have to rotate the squad in this and future t20 series, as the natwest blast is so poor, they don't know if there actually good enough and they certainly aren't getting enough quality match practice to prove they are before world t20.
Big indictment of our comp by him and obviously the rest of the England coaching set up.
-
Same could be said about the South African Ram Slam competition, I've watched a few games and they've all been fairly average (standard wise and player quality) apart from KP's innings.
-
Difference is that steyn, de villiers, duminy morkels etc play in the Ipl, cpl as well as ram slam,
So there t20 squad are getting t20 match practice of decent calibre.
England squad? Buttler hales have played bbl Morgan Ipl and bbl but not much else in the squad have. It's just the natwest blast.

hav'nt seen the interview but with the T20 world cup round the corner i'm not totally surprised. At least he has an opinion and is looking to try everything he can so we can compete. It's actually the only limited overs trophy we have won the T20.
I'm sure it been said before but if working visas could be suspended for 2 weeks in our summer, the T20 could really be a worldwide spectacle for the fans.
I suppose with all the other T20 tournaments cramming it in would be the problem......a test match series or two might have to be shelved-but would we ever do that in this Country? not sure we would.....
-
Not sure Roy got near that then.
All 8 sounds seemed to be off the keeper juggling it!

He's right, the blast is awful. However, so is he ram slam, big bash and IPL so let's not pretend those in the IPL are getting better trianing, it's poor quality cricket ove the last few years since those first season or two
-
Are you serious? The IPL and Big Bash are miles ahead of in terms of competitive standards.
Whilst I quite like Friday nights at Surrey for the Blast it's hardly convenient scheduling for the players when they're often having to play 3 different formats over the space of a week.
-
Buttler and Billings in for last 5overs...game on
-
When he's on it Buttler is such a good pinch hitter
-
Pakistan are so good to watch, I can think of no other team that can go from brilliant to village and back in one over.
-
England have been poor here, reckon this is a 190-200 pitch.
Or atleast if a few had stayed in and gone on we should have got near that!
-
Back in this now, slowed the RR right down...
-
time to circlejerk
-
Take a bow Adil Rashid, brilliant spell of leg spin bowling
-
JOS THA BOSS
-
Great stuff from the bowlers after such a dreadful start
-
Who woke up Boom Boom?
-
Uhoh... everyone's favourite lower order maniac is seriously getting going
-
Jesus Christ Woakes...
-
THANK GOD
-
Anwar Ali's batting in a Shrey keeping lid, strange
-
This feels horrible
-
Wheels have come off here for England. Woakes has to defend 11 runs in the final over, no chance!
-
Right woakes(y) here we go!
-
Wicket!!
-
Yes!
-
Dillscooping into your own stumps has to be up there with being run out backing up
-
My heart can't take this...
-
YES!
-
Always had faith in Woakes........
-
To be fair the previous over was carnage but woakes bowled a great last over
-
Wow that was close! England take another limited overs series.
But.
BOOM BOOM!!! Love afridi when he comes off.
-
Phew that was close! What a match
-
Plunkett's face at the post-match presentations for both games... 'Yeah yeah, sod you all. Chris Jordan? Piss off.'
-
Did anyone else notice the bat that rifatullah was using tonight? It looked tiny almost like a newbery mjolnir
-

Looked very old too...well used bat.
-

Either he is too broke to buy a new bat or doesn't wish to use a new one, it seems like as it's a plank (a wild and absurd claim) considering how he is looking to muscle through his shots!!

If it is a genuine Lala (or as we olds call it - A Malik Sher) some of them were damn fine bats, and not always huge - but the genuine ones performed magnificently!!
-
Someone invite him to the forum!
-
So Roy has a golden duck off the first ball of the match in both ODIs and T20s, surely that's some kind of record...
-
England a bowler light here IMO, need a big score to cover Jordan's overs.
-
Root is down to party
-
came someone explain please Chris Jordan?
brilliant fielder YES, stunning in fact.
would not get a bowl at the CBF nets and never scores any runs....
or is that being harsh
:)
-
I don't think there's much point reading into the team selection too much, I think the idea has been to give everyone at least 2 games of T20 cricket. Find me a player who hasn't play 2 games yet?
-
Lord give me strength
-
Nice one Mo.
-
We know how to be dreadful when we want to be...
-
Same old England...
Always goes to pot once they've won a series with games in hand...
-
Some bad bad shot selection going on
-
Chris woakes 98 metre 6
Have some of that
-
Again, they must really think we're stupid. Hafeez really is braindead...
-
11/3! Amazing.
-
Hafeez and Shane Watson are at the crease.
Which happens first, run out or lbw?
-
Filthy bowling from jordon. How many chances is he going to get? Even dernbach is better than him
-
Someone explain why Jordan is in the SA squad?
-
Quite the catch from Rashid
-
He gets worse!
-
I CAN'T TAKE MUCH MORE OF THIS
-
https://youtu.be/tI-5uv4wryI
-
You are joking....
-
Chris Jordan to bowl a super over, are you kidding me...
-
and people say Pakistan match fix......... England clearly wanting to lose this.
-
Errrrrmmmm
-
I stand corrected, excellent over there, nailed the Yorker pretty much every ball.
-
Who is this man and what have you done with Chris Jordan?
-
He's done alright there, but he's also got very lucky with the first four all heading well down leg, can't believe the batsman didn't just step inside them.
-
Well Jordan's just proved me wrong!
-
Why doesn't Jordan do this the whole time?
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
-
We are chasing 3, why not send root and Vince out to nudge and nurdle it.
Why send two hitters out?
-
Anticlimax over whatever it is.
-
Though this match was a dead rubber, it turned out to be a very interesting contest. Malik pulling a stunner of an innings and Jordan pulling things back in super over. Super stuff and England look well prepared for world t20 now.
-
Bizarre not sending Malik back in for the super over, coaches seem to overthink a lot of decisions to me. On the other hand I thought eng had the right 3 batting.
-
Well Jordan's just proved me wrong!
He has on this occasion but just like Woakes.. they will both get another 30 games on the back of one good game out of 20.... Don't get me wrong, I like both players BUT I don't think they are good enough for the T20 in India. Why doesn't Jordan bowl that length and direction every over? I know its a hard skill but Malinga has had a pretty good career out of doing that...
Also Joe Root in T20... not for me.. >:( this lad is the future of English cricket so why risk burn out and injury when we have plenty of young players coming through.. He has stopped bowling because of his bad back so why not give James Taylor, Jonny Bairstow, Nick Gubbins, Sam Billings, Karl Brown etc a go?
-

Malik got out just a few mins (Over 19.5) before super over. So Afridi might have thought he is too tired to go and whack again ... :D

Preserving Root from burn-out is definitely a good option. Certain amount of player rotation provides good rest and recuperation period. Root has carried the team in the test series at home. He deserves a good amount of rest.
Jordan did a good job today. Handling pressure of the situation is the main factor here and he did that very well. Since he never succumbed to pressure, his line and length was amazing to watch. It would have been interesting to see if Afridi had scored a boundary or six of the first ball of Jordan's over.
-
What would the outcome have been if England had matched Pakistans 3/1 ? A super super over?
-
goes on most boundaries hit in innings and super over combined
