Title: my new custom ayrtek
Post by: slogger02 on December 20, 2009, 09:36:49 PM
i saw the surrey brown helmets tom was selling and his offer of giveing them a facelift if people wanted, i took him up on this offer!
i bough the ACS elite one and asked for it to be transformed into a white delhi daredevils lid as seen on the website.  a couple of late nights and i daresay a couple of beers later Tom emailed to say it was ready and was being posted the next day. i received it the next day (just 5 days from order to delivery!).
it is a stunning lid and is bound to attract the attention next season! it looks brilliant and fits brilliantly, am very pleased with my purchase!
slight problem with grill but it is being replaced FOC, so no complaints here!
anyone after a helmet look no further than ayretek, you honestly cant go wrong!

the grill is fine if you have a smaller head and fit it on the holes furthest forward however my head is big and i needed it to be fitted on the furthest back hole, and it wouldnt line up correctly with the helmet.  chinese engineering apparently!  but being replaced with one thats fits properly.

I must be the most unlucky cricketer... I have had two ayrteks sent to me...
1) Scratched by the courier - Tom paid for me to send it back and sent a new one
2) New one arrives... ACIS doesn't work, probably Royal Mail that bashed it about this time!
3).... we shall wait and see... the perfect helmet I hope!

Can't fault Tom for his customer service its top notch!

That is nice, love the colours.

My current masuri is too old to sell and not knackered enough to merit buying another lid.

Do you like your masuri on terms of comfort and vision? What size is it?

It's a full size helmet (mens). It's comfortable and the vision is superb. It's an old version so they are a lot better now for comfort I would assume compared to mine.

As nice as you think masuri feels, ayrtek will be better.. i had a masuri ti and didn't think it could get any better but apparently it can! Ayrtek all the way, worth the extra money too...

ask tom what happens to a masuri under impact from a cricket ball. I don't wanna be taking the risk.

think it just cracked and disintergrated...cracking can lead to head injuries too i tihnk. the peak and bit above is dangerous as ball just hits it and goes in, doesnt reflect off...something like that. didnt stand up too well!

OMG Seriously ? But then again my pitch is really low so the ball dont bounce so nuffin is gonna hit me in the face unless its like a full toss.

yeah i mean its unlikely, you'd back yourself to get of the way and not many people are quick enough for this, so dont be scared, dont wanna put you off!!

I am seriously thinking of getting an Ayrtek for next season, (green with my club logo) I have big shoulders and in the past have only found the Masuri grill comfortable to wear, so hoping the Ayrtek will be the same.  I am 35 and a keeper so i have worn a few on the face. The worst injury however was a top edge whilst sweeping a spinner (yes spinner) left me with a depressed fracture of the cheekbone an damaged eye socket.......wear a lid people AT any standard of the game!

£££££

doubt that mate, micheal clarke, brand less, he is'nt getting paid is he?? Trott, using masuri, all the other sponsered players using the gunn and more helmets
Title: Re: my new custom ayrtek

Albion sponsor the Australia squad so hence his helmet is blank as per KP with his helmet and Hadden with his. the helmets are often left to the players personal preference as not all brands produce a helmet for their players to wear e.g Anderson and mongoose, Clarke should wear a slazenger elite which is the same as a masuri if your theory is correct and money plays no factor in this....with a bit of personal insight having spoken to the England team I can assure you they know their marketing value of what they wear when in the public eye.

what did they say?
Title: Re: my new custom ayrtek
Post by: Ayrtek Cricket on January 08, 2010, 02:08:24 PM
that they liked the technology and lightness of the helmets but would expect to be paid to wear them as part of a sponsorship deal....same as with Freddy!

So are you paying Kumar?
Title: Re: my new custom ayrtek
Post by: Ayrtek Cricket on January 08, 2010, 03:20:26 PM
Nope he would rather wear something that protects him to a superior level than the other helmets to keep him safe if he takes a blow to the head.
