If we can start transferring PayPal funds over I'll look to get it booked up.

With 8 or 9 of us (with possibly more) should we book 3 hours so everyone has a decent hit?
Will need to re-calculate the cost of we all agree, but might be worth considering

I agree

Ok - getting a bit excited now, what's everyone bringing for others to play with?
I'm bringing Wally, my Warbird (although I'm not sure I'll let anyone else touch it!)
SS Master 7000
B3 Bespoke
Sexy Dynadrive
I'm making up bowling markers for us too, so that there is no need for Hankies!!!!
-
What to bring.
Wilma the Warbird
Norman the NV
A couple of mysterious blanks
And the Chase 175 ibgot off eBay (I may even re-unite it with Dan if he isn't busy!)
Looking forward to Mr Cattus' bowling markers, and please don't forget my softs Bruce! :D
-
Cam please bring your warsop platinum so I can have a look at it, I remember you def saying to me it's rubbish and needs a good home :)
and I will be bringing my first ever H4L just to be in part of the gang.
have we got a sponsor for the event yet?
-
@ppccopener warsop platinum, complete with filler replacing missing chunk of wood from the face, will be present and up for sale ;)
-
So it sounds like I the only one going without a h4l
I'm going with my entire collection of a Mongoose CoR3 and a Newbery Uzi

Their will be a few bats that I am bringing for you guys to look at I sure your all like them 😀
-
I too will be H4L-less (except for a 4 year old pair of Excel gloves which, to be fair, are a bit on the minging side now!)
Bat-wise, my 10 year old Kahuna re-stickered after a refurb by Dean as a Vulcan, and possibly a Thruxton Players. My Salix is with Andrew for refurbishment (not that I'd use it in the nets anyway!)
Look forward to seeing you all with your Kent and non-Kent wood on Saturday!
-
Yay!! Bowling markers are produced - have I forgotten anyone? (Monkey - I've left yours in the car, I'll post it in a bit.

Outstanding work Sir!

Haha quality!
I do love that machine- nothing 5 feet down leg like my own club nets, or the one that hits the side net halfway down. :)

Don't worry If you have an uzi your in the A net with Cattus and cam and Pete
Unarguably one of the best bats Newbery have ever made.
-
Their going to be some serious willow on display that's for sure and some unseen bats that I sure will turn some heads
-
Ah yes and Simon.a quite remarkable collection of bats
Just for fun can we get some photos with the bats( my own team mates don't believe some of the bats on show at these gatherings)
:)

Why have i just been made aware if these?
-
Where's me marker?????ha
-
I told you - I left it in the car, don;t worry, I'll post it when I find it. You look beautiful in it!
-
I need to decide what to bring but likely to be a selection of some bats that can be used and a few that can't be used!!
Hand signed Adam Gilchrist, Fred Keeley 30 grainer and Graham Hick bat will be amongst those to be stroked and and admired! But there will be several H4L bats, salix, AJK and probabky loads of others will offer some welcome options to try in the nets although there will be so many other tempting bats that only 1 or 2 may end up being used!!!
-
Here you are @Northern monkey - just so you don't feel left out!!

It was worth waiting for
It is of course...the year of the monkey !

Ha ha love it sir

As we're an 'orrible lot and may bring the name of CBF into disrepute, best declare this is an unofficial forum net.
As such unregulated buying, selling & swapping of gear on the day is to be actively encouraged! ;)
-
How can it be unofficial it's in the south? It's just us northern lot the forum doesn't want to be associated with..

You may all be a miserable, complaining argumentative lot, with poor sanitation, dubious nutrition, barely intelligible English and rickets...............
but at least you don't have to put up with our house prices!!

You mean you can't get a 4 bedroom detached with a garage and 3 car drive and a decent garden for 140k??
I'd give you a like fattus, but Saunders hasn't enabled them in the new section.
-
Yeah where's the like gone !! :)
-
That Saunders!!! He's retiring from the Fun-Police!!
@smilley792 if my wife wasn't chained to her mother, I'd be up North like a flash - although way past you and into Northumbria / The Borders. Beautiful countryside, I like a pine forest I do!
-
Sorry up North as we speak, let me see if I can find the like thingy.

You can tell this net is currently on full swing!!
It's dead in here. Can come back with your spam!

It was a good net
Reviewing helmet-cam footage now
@smilley792 2 attempted ramps, neither of them worked but I'm blaming that on the bowlers and the fact the net is really bouncy

Cracking net today guys
I've not bowled that much in 20yrs!
Some serious willow on show from Simon and Pete today, those h4l bats are unreal, and to bounce a ball on Petes 29 grain Keeley bat was a joy, that's a stunning piece of willow!
Cheers Cam for sorting, and my apologies for pestering you for your h4l, I will knock mine in and use it :-)
-
Cheers for all who attended the net today. Benji I'm now counting youbas my bunny, get the GoPro footage of your first few balls up please ;)
Mark, no worries mate. I took it as a compliment you liked mine so much, but yours is literally it's twin! I'm sure it will serve you very well :)
It speaks volumes about the quality of bats on offer that I took a 14 sticks with me that people barely even looked at, because they were too busy stroking Pete & Simon's wood.

Yes very enjoyable net, big thanks to Cam again for organising.I even got to bowl a bit of trundle.
Huge amount of quality bats around and good to chat to Dan Swaine of Chase who has some forthright views on batmaking and I'm sure doubles up as a member of Kings of Leon.
I suspect, and hope, a certain member does another write up of the afternoon :)

How convenient, I only bowled you twice in the first couple of minutes, so hopefully you got one of them on camera!
Or the ones you fended off your nose to the keeper, they must look good on camera ;)
-
Another great day, thoroughly enjoyed it. Many thanks to Cam for arranging it all and for everyone for rocking up. Good chat in the pub after as well, only just got back 3.5 hours after when I told the wife.

I wasn't used to the bat weighing a lot more than what I'm used to
The nets were extremely bouncy

It was a wonderful net today, filled with thrusting young males, striving their best to drop their balls on a tricky length.
@WalkingWicket37 I think you probs have the majority of the photos, can you get any of them up?
I learnt many new things today:
@Northern monkey likes to hit the ball hard, very hard, and gets frustrated if ha cannot do so. He also gets extremely sweaty after a few deliveries, like all Northern Men.
@WalkingWicket37 can flit effortlessly between high pace and fiendish offspin. Both deliveries look exactly the same, except the faster he tries to bowl, the further into his neck his head dissapears. He is the white Gladstone Small
@Hanky Dad - goes a very funny colour after 5 minutes of bowling - thankfully he stays the same colour for the rest of the session.
@Batbuddy99 - the first delivery he bowls to his father will always be the bouncer. Hanky Dad expects this, and politely flogs it over mid-wicket.
@IWTUK - is a new chum, by his own admission he is 'well upholstered' and rocks the strapping and bandages look (a sort of cricketing version of The Mummy). He is apparently a traffic-warden
@uknsaunders - he turned up, but spent more time stroking other peoples wood than bowling. He allegedly possesses 6 different types of carom ball and likes to receive his deliveries hard and fast
@petehosk - has a multi-coloured helmet, although apparently there are tablets for that. He is also now a leg-spinning all rounder (providing the roof is high enough!)
@simonmay5 - showed off all 7 versions of his cut shot when batting, and bowled a quite extraordinary spell of lobs for which the follow through involves him executing a 'gentlemans excuse me' whilst hoisting his right leg directly over the stumps. What a fiend!!
@ppccopener - is a short, but powerful package. With ball he is limited to slow-medium 'deliveries', but with the bat he is all scurry and scamper, using his feet to get to the pitch of the ball, then gliding it through 'wide mid-on'. Bears a more than passing resemblance to Mr Miyagi, due to his flamboyant headband and constant references to 'Daniel-San'.

Bought many wickets on a Sunday friendly lol it far easier to keep than all this bowling thanks again cam for sorting out :)

Last time Cam wore his white tights, he got too much attention from some stray sheep outside after! No doubt put him off this time!!
Thanks for a great day with so much willow stroking, class bowling and proper cricket shots!

It was a very enjoyable afternoon with some new acquaintances; all of whom performed well in one skill or another! Thank you to Cam for arranging this, and I look forward to another net where perhaps the bounce isn't quite so challenging!
My back is absolutely killing me already!

Hearing ya there, I can't move and I've got no sympathy from the wife as I was out most of the day 'doing something you love doing'
-
I think we will try the net just by fleet the bounce was a lot better rather than the tennis ball bounce we had to deal with today
-
Women!! Can't live with them.........................
I'm afraid @WalkingWicket37 and @Batbuddy99 are responsible for pice and video this time, I only took a couple.
(http://h84.imgup.net/20160227_15fea.jpg) (http://imgup.net)
Mr Miyagi - fuzzy and out of focus (which is how he likes it) - he is carrying a bucket of horse-feed.

Nick Saunders showing Cam the Carom Ball with triple pike and half-somersault.

Northern Monley showing his perfect side-on action with heavy sweating to the off - Batbuddy is taking evasive action.
-
My missus never complains about my action or sweating!
And I'm walking like I've sh@t myself
I'm gonna sit an fondle bats next time instead of demonstrating my side on action
-
Well I've just finished sorting out my bag and hobbling round, so I'll try to sort some pictures out.
This will mean I have to take my laptop to bed, so if they don't appear tonight just assume I got distracted by other stuff on t'internet ;)
-
Where the like button!!!!!!
-
Apologies for the picture quality (or lack of...) just because I have a posh looking camera it doesn't mean I know what I'm doing with it!
I'll also apologise for anyone I didn't photograph, I was netting and showing everyone what an elegant bowling action really is! (There is some video footage of this, but I cannot for the life of me work out how to get it off my camera, I'll have a look tomorrow ant try to upload the video footage)
First to bat was @simonmay5 who likes to dink things behind square on the off side. Good luck doing that with the tennis ball bounce we had to contend with today
(http://i1206.photobucket.com/albums/bb450/CPye061194/P1010734_zpshvr1a2ea.jpg) (http://s1206.photobucket.com/user/CPye061194/media/P1010734_zpshvr1a2ea.jpg.html)
He also went all IPL on us at one stage!

Next up was a @Northern monkey who answers to the name Mark.
I wasn't comfortable standing in the net to take pictures, as he likes to hit it back where it came from very hard!
He started off blocking
(http://i1206.photobucket.com/albums/bb450/CPye061194/P1010764_zpsmx4cwbqj.jpg) (http://s1206.photobucket.com/user/CPye061194/media/P1010764_zpsmx4cwbqj.jpg.html)
Then started sending the ball flying!
(http://i1206.photobucket.com/albums/bb450/CPye061194/P1010766_zpsq1qswuzs.jpg) (http://s1206.photobucket.com/user/CPye061194/media/P1010766_zpsq1qswuzs.jpg.html)
Now for the forums very own Mr Miyagi @ppccopener
(http://i1206.photobucket.com/albums/bb450/CPye061194/P1010810_zpsolauy8qd.jpg) (http://s1206.photobucket.com/user/CPye061194/media/P1010810_zpsolauy8qd.jpg.html)
He's a proper batsman, one who doesn't try to hit everything for 6.
That confused a few of us in attendance, but if it works who are we to knock it?
Solid in defence

But more than capable of giving the trash a smash! ;)

There was even a KP esque flamingo came out!

Next up is Benji's Hanky Dad, Paul.
As Bruce has already said, he goes a magnificent colour when bowling.
(http://i1206.photobucket.com/albums/bb450/CPye061194/P1010811_zpsgdoyqd5f.jpg) (http://s1206.photobucket.com/user/CPye061194/media/P1010811_zpsgdoyqd5f.jpg.html)
He is a traditional batsman. He's also very busy at the crease, which resulted in blurred photos (yeah, that must be it...)
You watch the ball come down

And guide it into the off side!

The last "batsman" I got pictures of was the multi-coloured helmet wearing @petehosk
Whereas last time I commented on Pete's batting I said he liked to drive the ball, on the bouncy pitch today he liked to smash it wherever he could basically!
Respecting the bowling from @FattusCattus

Going leg side

Mooooooooooo!

And now for a few more pictures, to help put faces to names.
@uknsaunders looking mean!

Then sneaking off to speak to @IWTUK instead of bowling! ;)
(http://i1206.photobucket.com/albums/bb450/CPye061194/P1010780_zps2bzgqess.jpg) (http://s1206.photobucket.com/user/CPye061194/media/P1010780_zps2bzgqess.jpg.html)
Here we have Benji (@Batbuddy99) fondling Simon's wood.
Behind him Dan from Chase is doing his best not to look impressed by Pete's Salix.

Great post mate and was a really enjoyable day and yes trying to cut the ball today was quite a challenge just because of the very high tennis ball bounce especially of the slow bowling it seemed to pitch on a good length but would pop up to chest hight the interesting thing was the bowling machine on 75 was much more consistent because it skidded of the floor and had a decent amount of bounce without being to much anyway thanks guys for a great day and especially to cam for setting the net up again and already looking forward to the next net :)

Anyone else feeling a bit sore this morning?
Anyone who has seen me taking Tammie for a walk will assume that I've shat myself... :-[
-
This looks incredibly fun! Ill have to find the time to attend on of these one day!
-
Yeah I am too, good job I don't have to take the cat for a walk!
Where's the picture of my glorious LBW appeal Cam?
I'll look forward to bowling at some of you at Everley, with some more realistic bounce it should be a good fun battle as I unleash my benders on you!
-
I don't think the glorious LBW appeal was caught on camera. I have let you, the forum and myself down :(
As for the unrealistic bounce, it was just silly. @uknsaunders got a couple above knee height and everything!
Highlight was @petehosk, the mystery spinner, pitching a loopy leg break on a length that ended up at Fattus' chin height!
-
The size of my belly, I'd know idea there was actually muscle under there somewhere, until trying to move this morning!
Was well worth it tho, I'm not a fan of indoor nets, especially when the bounce bears so little resemblance to a grass wicket, but it was a cracking day, with a good bunch of cricket enthusiasts enjoying stroking each other's willow offerings.
Even got to touch a laver signature!
-
I can't move. Off to the pub for lunch and to forget about cricket.my hands actually hurt from gripping the bat
Wait till you get to my age Cam, bits just start falling off
:)

Has that laver seen a cricket ball yet? I think that's the one I sold to Pete a few years ago.

Too nice to use?
-
Did the Hick Chase make an appearance?
@petehosk
-
The Hick which i let go for 100 notes when it was there in my hands.
Looks like you had a top day with some outstanding bats on show will need to come down to dummer and see Dan and hopefully have a net with you guys if invited and allow your Northern Quota to double???

More the merrier we netting again in three weeks if you fancy it mate

I'd be keen for this if/when my back has healed up. If I can't make it, I request a bat line of all the lovely wood on show. what a collection that will be!!

It would have to be a panoramic photo, and even then I don't think the wall was long enough!

@Batbuddy99 any progress on the video footage?

No if I tried to edit it my computer will crash so I'm currently saving them onto my nexus where I will upload the whole footage onto here
If anyone wants me to edit it I will see what I can do on my tablet, but it may take a while as I've got quite a bit of revision to do

Can you edit out all of my bad shots and technique? That'll cut down considerably!!!! :(
