It was a wonderful net today, filled with thrusting young males, striving their best to drop their balls on a tricky length.
@WalkingWicket37 I think you probs have the majority of the photos, can you get any of them up?
I learnt many new things today:
@Northern monkey likes to hit the ball hard, very hard, and gets frustrated if ha cannot do so. He also gets extremely sweaty after a few deliveries, like all Northern Men.
@WalkingWicket37 can flit effortlessly between high pace and fiendish offspin. Both deliveries look exactly the same, except the faster he tries to bowl, the further into his neck his head dissapears. He is the white Gladstone Small
@Hanky Dad - goes a very funny colour after 5 minutes of bowling - thankfully he stays the same colour for the rest of the session.
@Batbuddy99 - the first delivery he bowls to his father will always be the bouncer. Hanky Dad expects this, and politely flogs it over mid-wicket.
@IWTUK - is a new chum, by his own admission he is 'well upholstered' and rocks the strapping and bandages look (a sort of cricketing version of The Mummy). He is apparently a traffic-warden
@uknsaunders - he turned up, but spent more time stroking other peoples wood than bowling. He allegedly possesses 6 different types of carom ball and likes to receive his deliveries hard and fast
@petehosk - has a multi-coloured helmet, although apparently there are tablets for that. He is also now a leg-spinning all rounder (providing the roof is high enough!)
@simonmay5 - showed off all 7 versions of his cut shot when batting, and bowled a quite extraordinary spell of lobs for which the follow through involves him executing a 'gentlemans excuse me' whilst hoisting his right leg directly over the stumps. What a fiend!!
@ppccopener - is a short, but powerful package. With ball he is limited to slow-medium 'deliveries', but with the bat he is all scurry and scamper, using his feet to get to the pitch of the ball, then gliding it through 'wide mid-on'. Bears a more than passing resemblance to Mr Miyagi, due to his flamboyant headband and constant references to 'Daniel-San'.
