Title: Post Game Fines (Serious/Novelty)
Post by: 400notout on February 12, 2016, 04:42:27 PM
Looking for a list/additions to our current post game fines list, the more original the better.

Also, thoughts on whether you feel small charges for fines are the way forward or to stick to drink related punishments.

Cheers.

Other than performance related ones we used to have:

Not showering
Being late
Borrowing kit
Missing kit
Black socks
Warming up in your whites
Entering field of play before captain
Any hillareous/embarrassing stories from during the week I.e attempts to pull on night out after game previous week, being caught in town on a date with another players sister
Being hungover
Having to ask who the days oppo are

There's loads I've forgotten too but basically fine anyone for anything and if you can't find a single thing to fine them for then fine them for being unfineable

There's a couple of guys in the first team that get fined every week for being ginger!

My club do fines, its normally the best part of the day. Fines range from 10p to 50p and its all for laughs. Below are a few I can think over.

Gower - first scoring shot is a 4
Flintoff - first scoring shot is a 6
Pants performance
Champagne moment
Drop catches
misfields
wides/no balls
New kit -  A CBF nightmare!
Incorrect kit
Not showering after the match (over 18's only)
Not scoring or umpiring (minimum 5 overs)
Late
Not warming up
Running in sand - Run/moving slowly
Turning like a tanker - Lack of agility or movement
Going down in instalments - See above
No sense of direction - In the wrong fielding position.

Thought of some more

Boring story
Full kit (No Swearing Please) during warm up
S**t lid
Posing
Free phone bowling - An over that looks like a telephone number, must start with a boundary.
Top banana - Best player of the day
Head in the clouds - Being bowled
Run out
Causing a run out
Arguing with the oppo or umpires

Ours are a bit much, all of the above plus a lot more - scoring under 15 for top 6, bowling and not taking a wicket etc etc, fiver for a fifty/fivefer, tenner for a ton/eightfer. Very good week if you get fined below £3.50. The record is close to £40 apparently. Takes the fun out of fines in my opinion, but it's a club tradition...

plus I expect people you to buy a jug as well! We did this at the beginning of last season and all the kitty went back behind the bar, which was great if you werent driving but not so great if you were an never benefited from handing over dosh every week.

We canned it in the end as it caused a bit of friction between teams as the captains got fined for losing the toss and all hell broke loose when he refused to pay it.

Blimey! Never realised your fines were this bad, hope we didn't cost you too much last year!

Most of the ones already posted plus;

Going home without paying your match fees, fined next game
Broken pint glass
Failing to assist with post match duties
Dissent to Captain
Dissent to Umpire
Helping yourself to tea before the oppo (home games only)
Damage to club kit
Injuring a fellow club member
Fielding with your feet
Quietness in the field
Dirty whites
Bowler turning up without his spikes
Forgetting your cap
Borrowing items
Hideous shades
Captain losing the toss

Tell me about it! Just imagine how it goes when you've got Benni McCarthy presiding over a fines committee. In our case it all goes towards fines night which is a good thing at least, but if you play every week you'll be paying a lot more in fines than you get in drinks. Fines for runs/wickets are instead of jugs, but I've just bought a jug instead on a few occasions rather than stump up the fine ha.

Ha in my personal case I think you cost me quite a lot for the first game! (not for performing well if anyone else is wondering...)

We used to do sh#* shirt fine. If you had the worst moment of the day (walking into the other teams dressing room, dropping multiple catches ect.) you had to go down the pub with this horrific shirt on then try and explain that if you're on the pull

Late
Not wearing the club badge
Warming up in whites
Dirty whites/black socks
Duck (double for golden)
Dropped catch
Missfield that costs runs
Random- can be anything really, usually saying/doing something stupid, decided on by a fine committee that rotates each week
Not paying subs

All 50p but rolled over and doubled if not paid on the day

Our club hands out all the fines money back to players at the end of season dinner, it normally pays for a few drinks or a ticket depending on how many games you play.

Yeh that's what I proposed, happy to pay in if at the end of he year it goes behind he bar and everyone benefits from it but was a bit annoying handing over £8 match fees + £5 in fines and not getting anything in return 🤔

We had fines after every first team game, added up to about 60 per player (second and third teamers just threw in £3 a game to join in)..

End of the year everyone who had paid more than a set amount got a free club polo shirt, free club training shirt and a club hoodie, everyone loved what felt like free stash and we got a deal because we were spending a decent wedge in one go. We will do the same this year and I think the plan is trackies, set of adidas whites as the free stash.

This also means everyone looks the same without forcing them to buy all the kit

Haha no I agree with much more of your posts than you probably expect mate ;) That's a genuinely unusual one though, fines are always so focused on drink/food that you don't think of kit as a possibility. Can imagine everyone feeling dead chuffed getting their stash and feeling like  the fines were well worth it.

They do, people love it because they have the 'fun' of dining each other for anything (max £3 on any day), then at the start of next season people get what feels like 'free' stash. Idea originally came up when I was thinking of ways to get people to buy club whites/kit to 'look' the same etc

2/3rd teams now join in becUse they enjoy being part of it. Plus, we always do it at oopppos bar which means everyone stays for a drink, usually get Oppos joining in fining us which creates a good atmosphere. We've often as a team been in the Oppos bar longer than all they are!

At home, a few sides stay when they normally don't purely to fine us and hear the random piss take we have

We used our fines to buy practice gear like katchets and single Spring stumps etc... As an extension to the not showering we have a quid fine for no flip flops in the shower

Don't think I could play for a club that had a fines system as it can course problems.
Title: Re: Post Game Fines (Serious/Novelty)

I think as long as the fines are small( say a max of a quid), and they are for fun things( arriving late, looking dishevelled, picking your nose etc etc) then they are fine.
It can cause issues if the "fined" person is a sensitive soul and the finemaster is almost bullying

I thought the same but every player got £3 a week even if they had a great game or a shocker so no one is over wacked or gets it cheap.

Score a 59?? Bottled a ton fine, not pushing on fine, getting out, top scorer fine maybe, scoring a 50 fine etc etc.. It is as silly as people make it. Hell, I used to ping left handlers for being left handed and anyone playing a attacking Stoke.. Yep, fine

I of course got pinged every week for being eeyore and boring. Fined per dot ball soon used up the max of £3 IF they couldn't think of anything else to get me with

I think that's why @ProCricketer1982's idea is fantastic. At least everyone knows that if they're getting fined at the end of the season they're going to get something out of it. It's essentially just a savings club - that's how I'm selling it to our team anyway.

We haven't got set things to be fined for it's basically a free for all of stupid things to be fined for. I ended up being fined 15 quid a couple of times last year which was fairly hefty for a student! Money goes towards an end of season trip which is almost always horrendously organised and leads to many disagreements.

Last year one lad thought he'd introduce a rule where one person could get fined more than £3 max... Everyone just used to fine him EVeRY week.. He soon relented and started taking it less serious

10/50p a bye is a good one. Especially when the umpires call 4 byes instead of 5 wides. Never shy of reminding the umpires how much they've cost me!

We've put that into our fine list which I can see not going down too well with our aging, overweight wicket keeper!

Batting
Golden Duck - £1
Duck, Lowest Score (ducks not included), run out, out to a sh*t shot, Being Boycott - 50p
Batting out a maiden - 20p

Bowling
Beamers, Wkt on a no ball, dropped C&B - £1
rank bad balls, complaining at fielding, miss-field off own bowling - 50P
wides & no balls - 20p each

Keeping and fielding
Byes - 20p each
Dropped catch - 50p/£1 keeper
Miss-field, no attempt, diving over the ball, over throws, hands in pockets, not paying attention, no 'red' for ball shining, sh*t shouts - 50p

miscellaneous all £1
late arrival/early leaving wee before, no club shirt polo/playing, not showering, not buying a drink after game (away games), not thanking tea ladies/taking tea plate back, dirty whites, turning up drunk, leaving kit in the club over the week and finally the opposition will choose our 'd*ck of the day award.

Im sure there is more that ive missed, we cap it at £4 a head per week and then normally have a day out at Carlisle Races/all day rager starting at 10am with the takings (in the region of £400 normally). Definitely worth while doing as its  good laugh at the end of the game.

We also do the fines, and they can be pretty savage, although it is max'd at £5 per game. Pretty much everything mentioned so far  but our guys have the option to appeal a fine and state their case, however if the fine is upheld, it is doubled!

we made just over £400 quid last year with the proceeds going towards team nights out with the stipulation it is spent over the club bar before we press on into town etc. therefore everyone benefits. Great banter that the entire clubhouse seem to want to watch, the 2's (who dont do it for some reason) and all members/supporters love having a chuckle  (literally) at our expense! Once the bell goes - Court is in session SHHHHH! Great for morale!

At our club fines max out at a fiver a person per week and standard procedure is for it to be open season, literally anything could be fine worthy, until you've maxed out

It'd always a good laugh coming up with them and the students never really have to pay up anyway so it doesn't get unaffordable

At the end of the year all the fines money is used for a big club night out
