Hey everyone!
As most of us know the professional cricketers even the bowlers tend to carry quite a few pairs of gloves, some players like Michael Clarke and Jacques Kallis have been known for carrying 10-12 pairs of gloves. They can do this as they get them for free. However for people that have to buy all of their kit how many pairs of gloves to you go through a season and how many pairs to you tend to carry in your kit bag at a time.
As an all rounder that's primary role is bowling I like to carry two pairs of gloves and two pairs of inners. I tend to have one set of gloves and inners for nets and another set for matches only. I do this for a couple of reasons, the first is that we train in the summer on a Thursday afternoon/evening so my gloves tend to be sweaty after training. I also play Saturdays and Sundays so if I used one pair of gloves for the whole lot they would be very sweaty and probably get worn out very quickly. I also do this as I don't like throwing out gloves until I really need to so I use a match pair until they start feeling a bit hard and transfer them to become net gloves once I've bought some new ones. My net gloves before my current net gloves were still feeling good until they had to go but the holes on the palm meant they needed to go.

Two for me.
-
I carry 2 pairs of gloves and plenty of inners (~10 pairs I think). I get sweaty hands so the inners help to keep the gloves as dry as possible. I do tend to stick to one pair of gloves though, the second pair are for backup if/when the first pair become too sweaty to bat in.
-
Carry 3 Pairs, use atleast 2 if I stay at the crease long.
-
I carry 2 or 3 pairs, one or two for nets (depending how much training I'm doing) and one for games.
I like to dry my net gloves ASAP, just in case I need a change mid innings (you never know...)
If I play both Saturday and Sunday and my match gloves had some decent use if Saturday I may use my best/dryest net gloves for the Sunday game, so my decent pair get the chance to dry properly
-
I've currently got 3 pairs in my bag, but have 5 pairs in current circulation overall (1 NB, 2 B&S and 2 Neon)
No specific pair for matches, but you wouldn't catch me using either my NB or Neon bats without the matching gloves! haha
-
I have just one pair, the same pair that ive used for 9 or 10 years. They are now starting to show their age though
-
2 pairs for me, usually the older pair is my net pair and new is for games only. After every game and net they are taken out of my bag straight away and left in a cool dry place to naturally dry out ready for the next training session/game.
-
2 for me and a spare for those that 'can't find their own' when they come to pad up.

blimey those palms must be harder than a 16 year old on work experience backstage at a womens underwear modelling fashion shoot.
-
I sweat a lot and also wear out the palm and fingers of my gloves very quickly.
I carry 2 pairs of gloves to every game but do have a nominated Match and training pair...
Usually end up having to buy a new pair midway through the season...

The punchline does not exactly roll off the tongue. I like what you did there though.
-
2 pairs usually
But sometimes 3 if I have a pair I'm trying out
Last season tried slaz gloves mainly but always went back to my kahuna 900 gloves
-
Two main pairs on the go at the minute, more one cheap blank pair for nets and one nice pittards pair for matches than for any sweaty hands purposes. Dread to think how much I'd get fined if I called for new gloves during an innings! Do use a different pair if I'm playing both days and one's still sweaty from Sat though. Go through a few sets of inners a season but gloves normally last 1/2 years depending on how much I've played.

haha! on subject thou I have 2 pairs of gloves, one pair of youths that appear to of shrunk somehow and no longer fit, so one pair really. If I stay at the wicket longer than 5 mins this season i'll buy a second pair.
main ones are SS TEST which I have to say are the most comfortable gloves I've worn so far. The are Indian mens but fit perfect(small hands, normally wear youths)
:)

I'm starting to think you're on the wrong forum...
-
3 pairs for me 1 for indoor 1 for nets 1 for matches
-
2 pairs for matches
Unfortunately 1 pair is usually enough....
-
2 for me, I rarely bat more than 18 seconds at a time though so one pair are basically brand new.
-

I have doubled my bat collection since joining :) (from 1 to 2 but shhhhhhhh!)
I am in the market for a new pair of gloves though, forum sponsor preferably
-
2 pairs for me. GN Prestige is the glove of choice for this year

See if H4L still have any of last seasons on clearance, they're awesome.
-
Take 2 pairs, Puma Karbon 4000 and Affinity. I only ever wear the Pumas. I own about 5 other pairs that I rarely use. All youth size.
-
2 pairs in my match kit (CA player editions) & 2 in the net/practice kit (Ihsan 950 & HS core 7). As a bowling all rounder 1 Pair is enough for me in a match.

Unless @H4Ladam has some stashed away, the website says they're all out :(
-
One pair
I'm northern and extremely tight!
But I do really need another pair, absolutely minging putting on damp used gloves
-
2 pairs, due to that fact that I spend ages at the crease.
Just picked up the B&S Impi gloves on their offer as my spare pare.
Bloody soft and comfy - bargain!!
-
I can't keep up with your changes of kit @FattusCattus you get through more gloves than @19reading87 does pads!
-
4-5 pairs at any point, with 5 sets of inners.
I have about 14 pairs in total, all new every season.
-
usually 5-6. I feel like lefty goes through gloves more often than righties...
-
2 pairs of gloves, with 2 pairs of inners for each pair of gloves.
-
For some reason never got used to wearing inners and now I barely see any international players wearing inners

To be fair if I was given 25 pairs of gloves free of charge whenever I asked I probably wouldn't try to prolong their life either
-
Just the 2 pairs for me Hopefully it can stay that way through this season
-
one
-
How many pairs of gloves CAN you carry?
Now that's a challenge.
-
One match pair, one net pair. Loads of Inners, get em cheap at the end of the season in the sale. Just swap the Inners if theyre getting sweaty at the crease.
Couldn't imagine wearing gloves without Inners... Wouldn't feel right!
-
Two pairs. One is red ink and one Laver and wood.
Buying a new one this season though - BAS players
-
3
Kabooms for match
Powerbow a for back up.
And a pair of legends for lending(guy left his out in the rain once so used them)
-
3 in my kit, many more in standby at home waiting to be rotated in.
-

I was never a fan of inners but a few years ago I got a bat back from repair and I wanted to give it a real test in the nets so I spent about 2-3 hours on the sidearm on a Saturday when my game was called off. After a while I started to feel pain on my palms and wear the fingers meet the hand itself, I took my gloves off at the end of my bat and I have several blisters and air blisters which were very painful. I decided to buy some regular full finger inners nothing fancy to try and give a little more protection and they felt really nice. I tried batting without inners and it just didn't feel the same so I continued to wear them. Another plus side is they help make you gloves last longer, I managed to get a pair of gloves to last a season and a half before moving them to net gloves.
-
Three/ four pairs in the match day bag.
One pair for the pre game net, then 3 pairs in rotation for matches, and ready to be worn if I bat long enough.
-
3. 2 for match use, one for training.
-
6 pairs for me.
-
3 pairs, 1 for saturday 1 for sunday and 1 for nets
-
6 pairs for me, 3 for netting and 3 for match use
-
I carry 4 pairs for games - 2 match gloves that are the same and 2 spares just in case we have a net before the game.
I also currently have 5 brand new pairs in my stash at home. And then 2 other pairs which are just muck around gloves. So that's 11 pairs total.
I sweat a lot so like having lots of gloves however, I am also superstitious so if I do have a long innings I hate to change anything about my set up. Usually just end up changing my inners a few times.
-
Carry 2 pairs normally for matches. Currently 3 as one of them is about to be thrown away.
For nets, just carry 1 pair as the small duffle can only just about fit the entire kit.
-
2 pairs for nets, training and warm up.
2 pairs for matches.
I don't use inners.
-
Seemingly common response: 2 pairs for matches, 1 pair for nets - I also have other pairs at home which are now surplus to requirements, but there ready to step in as net gloves should the current net gloves need throwing!
- Not the sweatiest man, but it does help having a fresh pair of gloves after so long - on the rare blisteringly hot day we have!
-
I'm afraid these gloves do not exist due to the lack of pictures 😀
-
2 or 3 pairs, 1 for matches and 2 for nets
-
2 pairs for matches and 1 pair for nets. I use BAS sausage players edition.
-
I own two pairs but just carry one pair in my match kit as I'm batting 8/9 these days so not needed that often!
-
1 pair for practice, and 2 for matches, no inners. Really need 2 pairs for that occasional hit that lasts more than 30 mins.. (Occasional meaning once a year)
-
Have 3 pairs one is kept for matches and two older ones for nets.
-
Two pairs for me in the kit bag on game day but i have third pair i use for training.
In the past, I've had two different types of gloves (sausage and shark split finger), but in the most recent season, i've had two pairs exactly the same.
The training set last season went well and truely manky, so a 2nd set was definitely needed. It was the first set of pittards i've uses. Not sure if that was related or not.
In regards to gloves in games, I really struggle with superstitions and really struggle with changing gloves during an innings. The first set have got you through the start of your innings....
I've tried a few times throughout my cricketing years to use inners. Haven't been able to transition to either full finger for cut offs, so, no inners in my kit.
-
3 pairs. No idea why, just always have had 3 in my bag. Normally only ever wear one pair for the whole season.
-
3 pairs of gloves - use whichever is dry on that day. I have my practice session towards end of the week and match during the weekend. So one or two pairs definitely ends up being soggy and third pair comes to my rescue.
-
Usually about 4 pairs on the go with 2 in the bag at any one time. Reckon they last 2 years per pair like this and keeps the smell down (a bit).
-
3 pairs for me although normally only have a match pair with the other 2 for especially sweaty days!
-
Never used more than one pair in an innings, my hands don't really sweat so no need to change, but have 3 pairs in the back in different states of health, one pair being broken in, one for matches and one for rough nets or to lend out.
-
@bk - What brand are you using?! I was using GN Powerbow kit last season, and found the thumb always wore through on the joint. Changed to GN Prestige and no issues as yet!
-
@OllieWalker39 Using various Affinity softs. The gloves are very well made, well sized and last a long time. Especially like the towelling on the thumb for wiping sweat away.V nice touch. I reckon if you alternate gloves and let all kit naturally it'll be good for a couple of years.
-
May look at what I'm using at the end of this season then - although I've just found a load of "old" gloves and they're now my netting gloves (lovely pair of GM LEs, Newbery Thruxtons etc) - issue I have is I'm a raging badger, so my kit looks amazing (and makes up for my distinct lack of talent) and all matches; tie this in with me being knee high to a grass hopper (all of 5ft 9...) I struggle with different pads, such as GM, being way too big! Gray Nics seem to fit well (but are at the smaller end of MENS apparently)!
