How many pairs of gloves do you carry?
« on: April 19, 2016, 02:17:46 PM »

Hey everyone!
As most of us know the professional cricketers even the bowlers tend to carry quite a few pairs of gloves, some players like Michael Clarke and Jacques Kallis have been known for carrying 10-12 pairs of gloves. They can do this as they get them for free. However for people that have to buy all of their kit how many pairs of gloves to you go through a season and how many pairs to you tend to carry in your kit bag at a time.

As an all rounder that's primary role is bowling I like to carry two pairs of gloves and two pairs of inners. I tend to have one set of gloves and inners for nets and another set for matches only. I do this for a couple of reasons, the first is that we train in the summer on a Thursday afternoon/evening so my gloves tend to be sweaty after training. I also play Saturdays and Sundays so if I used one pair of gloves for the whole lot they would be very sweaty and probably get worn out very quickly. I also do this as I don't like throwing out gloves until I really need to so I use a match pair until they start feeling a bit hard and transfer them to become net gloves once I've bought some new ones. My net gloves before my current net gloves were still feeling good until they had to go but the holes on the palm meant they needed to go.

I carry 2 pairs of gloves and plenty of inners (~10 pairs I think). I get sweaty hands so the inners help to keep the gloves as dry as possible. I do tend to stick to one pair of gloves though, the second pair are for backup if/when the first pair become too sweaty to bat in.

I carry 2 or 3 pairs, one or two for nets (depending how much training I'm doing) and one for games.
I like to dry my net gloves ASAP, just in case I need a change mid innings (you never know...)

If I play both Saturday and Sunday and my match gloves had some decent use if Saturday I may use my best/dryest net gloves for the Sunday game, so my decent pair get the chance to dry properly

I've currently got 3 pairs in my bag, but have 5 pairs in current circulation overall (1 NB, 2 B&S and 2 Neon)

No specific pair for matches, but you wouldn't catch me using either my NB or Neon bats without the matching gloves! haha

2 pairs for me, usually the older pair is my net pair and new is for games only. After every game and net they are taken out of my bag straight away and left in a cool dry place to naturally dry out ready for the next training session/game.

2 for me and a spare for those that 'can't find their own' when they come to pad up.

I sweat a lot and also wear out the palm and fingers of my gloves very quickly.
I carry 2 pairs of gloves to every game but do have a nominated Match and training pair...
Usually end up having to buy a new pair midway through the season...

The punchline does not exactly roll off the tongue. I like what you did there though.

Two main pairs on the go at the minute, more one cheap blank pair for nets and one nice pittards pair for matches than for any sweaty hands purposes. Dread to think how much I'd get fined if I called for new gloves during an innings! Do use a different pair if I'm playing both days and one's still sweaty from Sat though. Go through a few sets of inners a season but gloves normally last 1/2 years depending on how much I've played.

haha!  on subject thou I have 2 pairs of gloves, one pair of youths that appear to of shrunk somehow and no longer fit, so one pair really. If I stay at the wicket longer than 5 mins this season i'll buy a second pair.

main ones are SS TEST which I have to say are the most comfortable gloves I've worn so far. The are Indian mens but fit perfect(small hands, normally wear youths)
