Despite tending to go through a new pair of spikes every season I always struggle in the first game with wearing them (I normally wear them in a game for the first time) does anyone actually break them in during a training session or do others just wear them for a game. I decided with my brand new vectors for a few overs in training tonight for a change.

I usually wear them in a training session or do test run on nearest ground prior to the match..

I was quite lucky that my boots arrived today as they were meant to arrive tomorrow but the delivery date changed this morning and they arrived today. I had a bowl in them tonight and and I'm glad I did

Always take my time wearing them in at fielding practices and what not. Nothing worse than a whopping blister 34 overs in to fielding

I've never had a problem with blisters (touch wood) from cricket shoes.
However, that said, for my bowling/fielding shoes, i always wear mine for at least one training session/warm ups, before going into a game.
I find shoes are slightly different in sizing, even in the same brand, so i usually have the cheap foam inserts under my orthotics to make them snug. Having a couple of sessions before a game allows me to adjust the amount of foam ones exactly right and not having my footwear distracting me from my job on the field.
I tend to by my gear during end of season sales. For shoes, this gives a good opportunity to break them in a bit at the end of the season, when the old boots are still ok before using them fully the following season.

Good dry socks and heel plasters. New boots almost always rub until broken in. You just have to suck it up. Socks and plaster protection helps.

Never had a problem with asics. Worn straight out of the box and v. Comfortable.

Same here, asics cricket spikes, trainers and rugby boots, never had a blister!

Just got two pairs of Adidas boots (SL22 and Vectors) - no issues at all with blisters etc. Maybe you're getting a size big? Then again, I also bought mine over the winter and broke them in for a few days in the house etc!
But as said, new shoes will leave you prone to blistering, so heel plaster and some nice cricket socks will help prevent!

When I used to bowl I'd take the spikes out and wear them at indoor nets.

I haven't had problems with blisters in the past however I do find the soles very hard so it hurts for a bit when it land resonantly hard on a particular foot

Wore my new test openers to bat in straight out of the box two weeks ago made sure I had plenty of talcum power on my bare feet though.

Wore my New Balance CK4050 straight out of the box in a game two weeks ago.
They were great, no problems at all.

Bit off topic but my new club has a tradition of anyone turning up with new spikes has to drink a beer out of them
-
Wore my neon yellow/blue New Balance CK10AC's a few days ago for the first time. Great shoe, not too sure on the bright colourway though

I tend to wear mine round the house like slippers (with the spikes removed, obviously) for a few days when I first get a new pair of spikes.
I (virtually) always buy Asics and don't have a problem with them rubbing, but I like to get used to the feel of them on my feet before playing a game in them.

Wore my new asics advance 6 last weekend and were great from the get go, previous SL22's gave me black toes on both feet so hoping that doesn't occur this year as its not s good look with the flip flops!
