Does such a thing exist? I don't necessarily mean something handmade, due to cost - but are there more decent options out there than the sh*tty planks from Sports Direct?
The young man in question likes to give it a tonk, and I'd like the ball to actually go somewhere when he hits it!!!

I've let this one slip - who offered me a used B3 as his lad didn't use it any more, I think he was in the Surrey age-groups?
Sorry guys, my dementia is kicking in again!!
-
Sorry men - just a bump on this again. Someone very kindly offered me a size 5 B3 bat, that his lad was using in Surrey Age Group and I have deleted the details like a fool!!!
@TangoWhiskey - it wasn't you was it?
I really need to sort out an inexpensive but decent size 5 bat for this lad!
-
Nope sorry mate, not me!
-
@FattusCattus haven't mongoose got a lot of cheap bats in their website at the moment? A lot of them with quite big reductions might be worth a look

Most of the kids round our way use Funky kit from Cricket Hockey near Salisbury. Good sticks and branding.

Both my boys use bats from B3, Streaky was ace and we are the proud owners of a size 3 and 4, my only guess is a size 5 would go like stink!
