Title: SS TON Limited Edt. OLS at £145
Post by: SteffanLangholz on June 03, 2016, 11:53:12 AM
Hi guys! Along with the Sierra I got this SS limited Edt.

Weight: 2:11
Edge: 45mm
Spine: 65mm
Toe: 30mm
Shoulder: 20mm
Profile: LOW
Grains: 11 straight and evenly spaced
Finish: SS perfect. Love it. Smooth like a babys bottom.
Handle: Round. would say medium thickness.
Ping: Absolutely stunning. For a slow low pitch, this is perfect. Pings well, even very close to the toe.
Pickup: This is a very big bat, and you dont feel it while picking it up. Amazingly it does not feel bottom heavy, even though the majority of the meat is down low.

Would absolutely recommend this for the front foot driving player!

looks a lovely bat mate and should serve you well! Just got to ask, is it just the photos but looking at the face just where the tec and the stickers are it looks quite rough almost like blade marks on the bat? ??

Good spot. The tec was on when I got it. Might be OLS or SS doing a bad job at pre sanding. OLS knocking in service has the tendency to open up small surface cracks, then he glues them up. (You can se it just below the tec at star# 3 and 4 theres some glue.

Good looking bat. Does it have a bit of a duckbill?

Yes it does, but seeing it's a low middle, it's a chunky duck bill.

Oh cool, It did look a like a more subtle duckbill compared to some of the newer BAS models

Thats a beautiful SS bat. Say what people may about OLS but the bats that he delivers for the price are often amazing. Hope the bat goes well for you!

Well, I haven't had a bas in my hands for years, it might be smaller :-)

Both these bats where bought home, with the intention of my teammates to take them of me. It took one session for both to go.

Seems a common spot for SS to be breaking the last 12 months.

Oh no, safe to assume its storm damage?

Or a snapper where the handle has been put in too tight

Id say storm damage over the handle being put in too tight as normally when the handles too tight the crack goes down the back off the bat from the bottom of the splice not across the face, I could be wrong but it's just my experience with them

Seems storm damaged. Should be giving you a refund or another bat.
Any luck?

Could be storm damage (no clear signs of it) but the bat looked very dry in the first place.

Gutted.

Is it just me or does the crack on the face start from where you said he glued it after knocking?

It did.. Which is even worse.

He is talking to the ss factory. No clue what happens next.

Good luck Steffan. I loved the purchase until I scanned down to the damage. I'll be interested to see how you go with warranty and keen to report it on my page if it's no good.

Right. An update.

So far Ajiit has been talking to the SS replacement department. He is trying to avoid me having to ship the bat back. Which I of course would appreciate happening.

In Ajiits own words:
Quote deleted (ols asked for this during the ongoing case)

Earlier he has recognized without a fuss that this is a replacement issue, and since its only been a struggle for him not having the bat in hand. Luckily im not in a hurry.

Video over ip would solve most disputes. You show a bat and the receipt and your done. They can record it for insurance purposes too.

Fantastic .. lets see if SS can take any action on this.

From what i know, OLS is not a registered reseller or retailer of SS/TON products. I would recommend always cross checking what that OLS dude says ... most of the time he lies to just make a sale.

This approach would work with proper retailers. I am not sure if we can classify OLS in that category !

Wuhu!

Today the replacement arrived. Not as pretty, but same great feel, and a lovely middle.
OLS tried all along the road to get the replacement without having the original bat in hand, and he managed to get this done.

All in all, no extra charges for me, and a brand new bat.

You are probably the first guy ever to get a replacement from OLS ...

I think its about time he starts replacing these broken stuff. Couple of years back there used to be a lot of buyers from my team dealing with OLS. Now not even one guy is willing to deal with him. Everyone have been burnt through these crappy broken bats or broken handles. He can't sustain the business if his big customers keep dropping off the radar very fast ...

Basically, I think he enjoyed my patience. I just said he could take the time he needed, and he did. Took well over a month, but lucky me, full refund.
