Post by: tim2000s on August 12, 2016, 11:36:22 AM
A long thin parcel arrived this morning. I have to admit to expecting it. This is the shipper.

One very much doubts you've bought 2 G3 slazengers from Australia.

It's more a box made for 2 is needed to fit an oversized gray nics in.

^ This. XP-70 is lighter than XP-80.

I have been contemplating XP-80. I won't have time to knock it and season is nearly over.

I'm hoping its a 2.9 XP-70...

Okay. Teased you enough! Those of you who voted XP-80.... You were right (and it's the cheap one)!

Purchased from Kingsgrove Sports and knocked in by them prior to delivery. It weighs in at 2lb 12oz and the eagle eyed amongst you might recognise that it is a Long Blade. It is half an iPad tall. It's huge. And very, very silly. And I love it!

For a bit of fun, I took it with me to the LMS game tonight where I expected to bat middle order for hits and giggles. And oh did I giggle. The spinner bowled one on my legs and a flick took it over deep midwicket/cow for six. A little flick. I chuckled to myself. Whilst it looks lik eit has a very high middle position, the middle is also huge. What I found fascinating was that the ball marks where all pretty much in the middle where the maximum hump is. Lovely!

I think it may be the silliest bat I have ever bought. It's also very rewarding and hits the ball a very long way. Move over Warner. Tim's in town! :D

These bats for sure are leading to willow shortage  ;)

I've no idea about the edges. I don't tend to measure them as I like to hit with the middle.... ;)

Would this even fit into the bat sleeve found in duffles??
Title: Re: What could this be....?
Post by: tim2000s on August 13, 2016, 09:38:00 AM
I have to admit that it reminds me a lot of the first gen M&H Distinction, when that first appeared, but it seems much, much bigger than any of those were. It is an amazing feeling to walk out to the middle and have the keeper wide eyed at the size of the bat you are wielding!

Would this even fit into the bat sleeve found in duffles??
It just about fits into the Slazenger Wheeled duffle bat sleeves - they have quite a bit of room. It has no chance of fitting the Ton backpack I have. My Dynadrive and B3 1271-mod hardly fit in those and they are 2/3rds the size.

So only one question - how on earth are you going to maintain your sanity having that weapon in the house during the off season?

Post by: Wickets-then-runs on August 13, 2016, 11:36:38 AM
Having used a Warner edition and B3 Pepsi all last summer, its quite a nice feeling to walk out to the middle and have the keeper give a bit of lip about the size of your bat only to have him a few overs later politely enquire as to where i got it and comment on how well it goes...  :D

What sort of percentage duty are we talking?

What sort of percentage duty are we talking?
WHatever the standard is. It was in the summer so I can't remember, but I've imported a few bats and none of them have avoided duty when coming new from a retailer.

How is it possible? "An actual Warner, even bigger than my replica"? Are you sourcing these directly from the great man, the one-and-only, Stuart Kranzbuhler?
