Great chance for us to win this series now, but a but surprised with Onions being dropped. I thought hes bowled well this series and has been more than useful with the bat...
Also interesting to see Sa dropping Harris and opting for McClaren. No frontline spinner and the inexperice of Wayne Parnell, a great oppurtunity for England!
-
Bl0ody strauss!!!! Thats a big wicket for the Saffers.......get into work and the first words i hear from TMS is "Strauss is out" - could be a long day :(
-
Terrible Terrible shot by Trott.
-
wouldnt say terrible shot, more the fact he was in second ball of the test! unsure on the situation...
looks quite an odd pitch though
-
I know he has a good test record - but i get so frustrated watching Pietersen, what a wan*er!!!!!! Grrrrrrr, this cricket is ruining what should be a fun day at the office!
-
It gets worse - i think im going to retire to the toilets and sit on the loo and sulk all day........belly and brigadier block to save the day!
-
Will we get to lunch?
-
they are harping on about Cook's dismissal being a noball on the radio, but does anyone who saw it disagree
I thought, unfortunately that it was fine.
the law says...
http://www.lords.org/laws-and-spirit/laws-of-cricket/laws/law-24-no-ball,50,AR.html
5. Fair delivery - the feet
For a delivery to be fair in respect of the feet, in the delivery stride
(i) the bowler's back foot must land within and not touching the return crease.
(ii) the bowler's front foot must land with some part of the foot, whether grounded or raised, behind the popping crease.
If the umpire at the bowler's end is not satisfied that both these conditions have been met, he shall call and signal No ball

Please mate.... if you wanna use that excuse uve got rocks in your head. If you bat three, you should be raring to go from the first ball. Just because he came in 2nd ball of the innings doesnt give him an excuse to say he was unsure, and start playing flashy drives and then on his dismissal, which you can debate was terrible, try and whip a new ball bowler who you havent middled yet through mid wicket off middle stumps in the 2nd over when your 1/5.
England have fought hard in this series to get to where they are, very hard, and soft dismissals like that in situations like undo alot of the good work
-
Is food all you think about?
Not happy with Darryl Harper the mans a fool, howver Strauss has shown a good bit of captaincy by not loosing it - my toys would have been out of the pram straight away!!!
-
I didn't know you had got them back in the pram after the last episode......
-
Just about - can you tell Oliver and Belle that they'll have their toys back next time i see them......i think the pram is an upgrade on the ax mind you.
Harper is the worst umpire in test cricket -not my words, the words of Boycott (the voice of reason)!
-
Just tuned in at 64-4, so was Strauss and Cook out in dubious circumstances? I assume the Saffers got our Saffers out legitimately!
I believe Olly's toy of choice is a Knocking in mallet!

Wouldnt really put it as a soft dismissal, Pietersen's was however...
Hmmm yes will we make it to lunch? Bell could prove some critics wrong again, which would be nice.

From the sounds of it England have made a mistake in picking sidebottom - from what the tms team have said about the pitch i think onions would get more out of it.........also, i just dont rate sidebottom, he is an average county bowler and always will be.
-
Whats Sidebottom done to reward a recall anyway!? Onions would of been a much more useful bowler on this pitch...
Anyway enough of the moaning, we could be praising him on a 5 wicket haul.
What a catch that would have been by Prince though!
-
DROP PIETERSEN!
He's in the team on reputation, his last decent score, (90+) was in the West Indies this time last year, correct me if I'm wrong.
-
I think we will have to hold comment until the match plays out a bit longer, plus they were saying that Onions might not be 100%.
-
I'd prefer to have a 90% onion than a 100% bottom........
True enough though - i hope he does perform well but i dont see him as a long term option for england.....just dont know at the moment who does a similar job in county cricket.
-
anyone just a close up of morkels boots? they were asics 100tr's covered over with a cut out puma badge! now hes wearing asics ! he might be getting a call from puma....
-
Bell's gone :(
-
It may be too early to say this but I am expecting us to get crushed in this test.
-
What is happening? I've only just realised we won the toss.
-
Anderson now using an Albion lid, not Gay Nichs
-
All out, come on England with the ball!
-
Shilly your mates bowling :-)
-
Oh dear England! Highlights will be interesting!
-
Shaun Pollock is on whilst rain is stopping play. I'm sure he was on the "Happy Days" why is he commenting on a Cricket Match

Made me laugh
"Just seen an advert in a local paper: 'large Jo'burg venue for hire. Available 4pm 16th Jan - Previous booking was a 'no show'. Boerewors rolls & hamburgers for sale (onions not included)'"
-
Just listening to TMS, Boycott what a legend!
Apparently Sidebottom was selected due to bowling well in nets!
Stupid as to why Onions is not playing. Did a similar thing with Pattison last year at Headingley.

Haha, the Onions gag! Onions go well wiht Mustard though ;)
-
That's class SS!
-
Rediculous!!
Just seen some highlights and i'm amazed as to how Smith was not given out. How you dont here that huge edge is beyond me! Also surprised that Smith did not walk...
Looks like we maybe staring down the barrel in this one though :[
-
Apparently on TMS they said that the genius that is Darryl Harper didn't have his TV turned up very loud so he didn't hear the nick - apparently it was on level 4 when it could be turned up to 10. To say Aggers and Vaugham were unimpressed is an understatement. Shocking shocking umpire. As for Smith walking, could never see that happen unfortunately and all we can do is hope the rain continues to come down indefinitely!
-
It just shows how pressure can get to you.
If there was no pressure on getting a win, then I would like to think he would have walked!
But the pressure of trying to get the win has turned him into a cheating idiot!
If I had of blatently not walked when I knew I edged the catch on 15, then I wouldn't have the cheek to celebrate!
I used to respect him as being a young but awesome captain who leads by example in the way he bats, and in the way he conducts himself!
But that respect has all but disapppeared now - I think he's just a moron! And I were to ever meet him, I would take great pleasure in telling him!
-
Unfortunately in the modern era I don't think there would be too many who would have walked which goes to show what a fantastic ambassador Gilchrist was in his walking crusade! If only there were more players like him...
-
My respect for Gilly (even if he is an Aussie) is second no none!
As a player, he still rates as one of the most excinting batsmen around! And not too shabby with the gloves either!!!!
But as an example of how cricket should be played, and how you conduct yourself, he is pretty much up there with the best!
And I so respected him for walking if he was out!
-
There was similar instance in the AUs vs. Pak test yesterday. The batsman was Michael Clark batting on a 100+ and still did not walk off. Even the commentators said there was a nick and the replays showed there was a deviation in the seam after passing the bat. Surprisingly the sniko was not used nly the hotspot was used which was inconclusive as there was a very faint edge.
Also Langer admited after over 10 years that in a test against Pak when he got a faint nick and was not given out first ball he did not walk off. He was under pressure as the series had not gone well for him. There was a mention of Gilly even that he started walking off only once he has cemented his place in the Aussie side and that there were instances when players did not walk off.
The commentators discussing this were Mark Taylor, Justin Langer and Tony Greg
-
I wouldn't walk for nobody, thats what the umpires are there for and when you do get some s**t ones that's what the referral system is there for. Unfortunately when you have Daryl Harper there you might aswell have a deaf, blind monkey sat up there.

Something to lighten the mood!! :]
