Hello,
Got a couple of part made clefts (when i say part made i probably mean most of the way) of Glen Murphy, moved one onto a mate straight away and kept the other one to go under my knife. The result, i'm pretty happy with. Not sure exactly on the wieght, kitchen scales dont seem to be all that reliable, but reckon its about 2'8 2'9ish, feels pretty nice. eventually might get stickered up to Bangers & Smash.

the willow isnt the cleanest you'll ever see, but stil nice, bit of a butterfly stain just bellow the middle. some would say thats the shizz.
Round up, happy with the weight, happy with the pic up, happy with the middle and i expect it to improve with wide grains taken into account.
Happy days, Thanks Glen.

Great looking bat their GC profile is well done

Very nice looking profile - agree with you there Leo!
Looks a generously proportioned bat for around 2'8!!!
-
very happy with the resut of my first attempt. should go well.
-
Had a hit with it in the nets tonight after giving it a light oil last night. come out good no seam marks. now i just wanna do a bit of concaving down around the toe to get the balance even better.
-
Bat looks a stormer - great profile and nice work on the finish....you must be pretty chuffed!!
Never seen that type of handle before - does glen make his own handles that you know of?
-
Not to sure, But i think he said some where in our communications he imports them. Still not happy with the finish, on the back of the bat, the face come up good after the oiling though.
-
Mate that is a great bat I don't understand about the back of the bat?
-
Im not happy with the way the back of the bat finishes after just sanding it, I'm looking at getting a Calico Disc polisher and Beeswax.
-
Looks a very nice profile for 2'8!
-
I've tried beeswax before - didnt work at all for me, even with a high powered buffing wheel - might suggest trying something else.
Anyone got any buffing compound for sale?
-
I know where to get some. I have got this information from James at Fusion, and it works pretty well. PM if you would like any more information.
-
Are you going to go into 'proper' batmaking, or are you keeping it recreational

Craig can you Pm me regarding this as ive looked into this with no success...
Not sure if the salix bat wax would be suitable?
-
Craig, is it Vonax?
-
as far as bat making goes lets not get carried away, i think a bat shaper might be a little bit more appropriate, and at the moment it is recreational. As far a bat polishes, keep in mind that i'm from Aus, and dont really fancy importing from the UK.

Have you tried contacting Grays in Australia ?

Ok quick roundup. Have ordered some Beeswax wood polish, interested to see how that goes, Finally established the correct weight of the bat through a complex series of weighing, converting and double checking and i was way off the mark with 2'8, goes to show cant judge weight on pickup alone. It is Officially 2'11, Goes like a gun and will be my match bat for the rest of the season. putting a fusion and H4L on the shelf.
