Title: Your kit for the 2017 season
Post by: WalkingWicket37 on October 29, 2016, 05:29:06 PM
As it's nearly November, and we are no doubt thinking about winter nets, it's around that time of year that kit for 2017 season starts to take shape.

My gear is almost sorted, so I snapped a couple of pictures while I was sorting my bag for a net tomorrow.

Knowing me I'm likely to change my mind, so my intention is to use this for 2017:

Hunts County Aura Wheelie bag
Hunts County Aura batting pads
Hunts County Aura batting gloves
Hunts County Triumph batting glovess
Aero P1 Arm Guard (badge removed)
Aero P1 V6.0 thigh pads
Aero Box
Masuri Elite Titanium with Stem Guard*

And bats:
Hunts County Aura 700
Hunts County Turbo Revolution 900
Hunts County Aura 650
Hunts County Triumph
Hunts County Reflex (refubed by Hunts as an Aura 1000)

And wishing to be a full kit wan@er again, I will also have to buy a bat,(I want one of those clefts that shall not be named tho 😈)
And a new duffle if possible as Jnr Jnr monkey has trashed my lovely Uzi duffle

Here are my bats. Can't be bothered to get the rest of the kit out but will keep my Affinity gloves as no. 1 Puma Karbon's the no. 2.
Still using my B&S LE pads though will look to get some lightweight ones perhaps 2nd hand GM rsb's.

From left to right
Bulldog spirit. Bought from fattestcattus I think. Picks up lovely and hit good runs in friendly t20's with it.. 2lb 8oz
Homemade laminate Easton something and Salix the edge 2lb7oz
Gun oblivion originally long handle but cut down to SH due to toe damage. Very low middle now. about 2lb9oz
Aldred supreme butterfly. High middle, picks up well, got me playing the pull shot again. Very responsive.  2lb12oz
H4l NV grade 2 - match bat 2lb 10oz. Sublime
Affinity carbine sport - reserve bat/next seasons match bat. Very good long middle. Hit some big 6's last season.  2lb11oz
H4l devil in the shape of a Newbury mjolnir. 2lb7oz best shaped handle ever

Changed my mind.
Bags
Ton elite - great bulk storage
Mongoose duffle - this was not designed by a cricketer. Shame, love the colour
2 x Slazenger v series duffle. Love these, perfect for me.
Gloves all youth rt hand
Affinity - got from vitas. The mutt's nuts. But a white cuff is no good as it gets mucky
Puma karbon 4000
Puma comething else
2 x Salix pod arma

Pads B&S LE - can't criticise these.
A sidearm club and sidearm pro. These are worth their weight in gold. Particularly if you have no cartilage in your kness and suffer from arthritis.

Shall we have a sweepstake on how many brand changes @WalkingWicket37 has before April??

I'll say 3

Haha, I'll go one change then! It'd cost a fortune and take ages to change 3 times, saying that Cam has probably sourced all of his next set of kit on eBay subconsciously!

So I was sorting my kit out ahead of winter nets
Having owned every imaginable brand at some stage or another I have had a proper eBay sort out over the winter & sold off the stuff I don't use.
I plan on running 2 kit bags - the coffin & the standup duffle. One will live down the ground I expect.

Bats
Red - 2.9 a Spartan of unknown heritage from M&H as a refurb for £85 - sensational middle
Blue - Blankbat B Oz 2.10 lovely bat really high middle £160 from IJC
White - Custom from a friend 2.10 £150 - yet to be used in anger but feels great as I knock it in

Pads
2 x unbranded X1 pads from online stockist/eBay £45 in total

Gloves
2 x RS Plain white with pittards from cricket shed/eBay £60 in total

Helmets

1 x County had forever 1 x C&D had ages too (neither expensive)

County coffin must be 20 years old & still love it
Duck & Run duffle £25 in sale and a belter
Single thigh pad (big son has swiped my other one) as I've never really mastered "strippers"
Gray Nics pimples for batting £25 from IJC
Puma Spikes for bowling had for ages
Various club caps - the snapback is my 12 year olds

Lurking in the corner my M&H pads & gloves that I haven't yet shifted but will likely end up in a net bag.

The strategy is really plain kit so any bat will go with them & as I'm over 40 less is more in branding & colour
Finally I'm a fan of a bargain - there's something about getting a great bit of kit cheap when some local stores flog inferior stuff for a fortune to the unsuspecting

Be gentle - I'm new at this

Nice selection, my kit is subject to change depending on what tickles my fancy from the 1st batch of Eite Editions arriving early next week 😁

Will be using the sample Softs in nets once they have been used for photography and helmet, bag and spikes + Foxy thigh guards will be the same as last year.

Very impressed with the pads
Firstly they are not small (which was a worry) I am 6ft and the fit really well. I have used them at indoor nets and they are easily as good as any branded purchase, and attract a surprising amount of questions from those that would prefer plain kit.
Secondly I paid slightly more from OLS for X1 over Test for the added padding at ankle/shin - the quality of the pad has really pleasantly surprised me for the money
Finally they appear to be IDENTICAL pads to those at twice or three times the price once they have been branded, check out SF Sapphire to name but one.

Very similar to last year for me. A splurge of orange and blue SG hilite softs (I have spare set of the pads in the garage), lovely blank bats plus some blank bats gloves, my bonkers masuri lid and the spikes...

Feel your pain I had double ligament repair / reconstruction the back end of September so am in the middle of rehab at the moment. Like you this seasons probably too much of a stretch for me (I'm not looking forward to the end of April and being on the other side of the boundary rope).

Having had both knees reconstructed it's a frustrating period having to do the rehab and Physio. Had to pack in football at the ripe old age of 22 as a result as it took me a week to recover from a 90 min game.

Surgery techniques have prob moved forward now along with recovery times tho so fingers crossed for a speedy recovery.

Hopefully, if I commit properly to rehab and physio, I can potentially make a return to football. Take things as they come I suppose!

Spent the good part of the entire last season behind the rope. Fortunately I had coaching duties to fall back on which satisfied my craving for the game!

@GeorgeB93 what are the blank pads and gloves mate?
Got them off online stockist, £12 a set on the gloves and £17 on the pads. Labelled up as 'test quality'. Not as good as GP247 softs but would highly recommend if you wanted cheap gloves and pads!

This is because I need to raise funds for two reasons, firstly that I am starting teacher training in September and secondly I am saving up to hopefully play in the u24 Ultimate World Championships with GB in Jan 2018 (in Perth, Aus hence already saving).

My kit is largely the same as it was from halfway through last season, and I will source pictures soon.

Bats:
B3 Bespoke 3 Stripe - shape 19, semi oval handle, 2lb8 undressed and 2lb9 dressed - probably the best bat I have ever used.
Blueroom Bombora bought on here, though that may be moved on despite being absolutely fantastic. 2lb8oz gun.
Icon Signature bought last season at Romida Hemel. Not a looker but huge and pings. Only 2lb10oz so light enough for me to use.
GM Flare Original - much more traditional than the others, 2lb9 and just a lovely piece of willow that feels great.

Pads, gloves, thigh pads, bags, keeping kit are all Legget and Coe Prophecy. Nice kit, though showing some wear after a seasons hard use.

Helmet has changed from being a Masuri Vision Test Ti to a Shrey Masterclass Air Ti with NekTek. Much lighter and feels more comfy.

Spikes are now Asics in blue to match my other kit, bought in the end of season sales along with the lid.

I've been pretty badly injured over Xmas (tore my left anterior talofibular ligament and in the process trapped an interior ankle ligament in my ankle joint) but have been able to bowl a reasonable amount. Batted for the first time today and I don't think I've ever hit a ball so hard! S&C programme for GB must be working wonders! Hopefully fully fit soon and able to properly push myself with the leggies and variants ahead of the season.

In true CBF style, I decided that lugging my match kit to training every week was a bit unnecessary.
The obvious resolution to this problem was to get a 2nd set of kit for training!

All of my Hunts County gear for the season has now arrived, so I got the camera and snapped a few quick pictures tonight.

First up my net kit.

Well, as of today my 2017 kit is complete (probably!). So without further ado, here's the match only gear:
GN Predator bag
Bradbury players softs - too classy, hopefully I'll lull some oppositions into a false sense of respect walking out with these on!
P2 Strippers
Puma SE backup gloves
Red Ink keeping gloves for the odd occasion I keep in friendlies, suspect these won't get much use this year. Matching pads are lurking about somewhere.
Just realised I haven't included lid and spikes, but Masuri Test ti and Asics 210no

and the willow, these are the few most likely to get used frequently. All sourced through the forum, all crackers!
H4L NV - 2.12.5
GN Nemesis - 2.12.5 and likely to be first choice, I like the others but when this is available to use it's so hard to walk out to bat with anything else.
Red Ink custom LB - 2.11.2
Aldred Silver Sovreign - 2.11

This is my kit for the 2017 season I got all of the Gray-Nicolls kit this year and they will be used as my match softs the three bats will be used in nets and the legend will more then likely be my match bat for the season, all I need now is a white grip for it. The other pads and gloves will be used in the nets and as a spare set of kit, although the OLS gloves may be used in games If I want to use split finger gloves.

Here are the pictures.

By far my favourite stickers ever from newbery. Subtle bit of flashness with the racing flags but not over the top. Between those and the classic grizzly stickers

Yeah picked up these by chance by popping into hove, and they interestingly let me purchase the stickers for £15(2 sets) after i mentioned the old ones they were selling online, whch i was surprised  by given they are continuing the range

Here is my kit for 2017. In the process of acquiring another long blade RS.

SS Master 9000 long blade, 42mm edge, 66 spine 2.10 was my match bat last year and is currently on a ventilator. It performed exceptionally well.
SS Reserve Edition SH, It hasn't seen as much use yet. Ignore the white tape, it'll come out. Not sure what i was thinking.
B3 crown, actual Shan Masood bat that Streaky sold off through his Facebook offering last year. Ok bat. I am just not getting along with it. Maybe a bit too light. Was sold off at 2.10 but ended up being 2.8.
RS pro SH, this is a gift for a friend. Unreal ping
RS pro LB, 40mm edge, 65 spine, no concaving, 2.10. This will be my match bat this year. Looking forward to using it.

@DorsetDan The handle feels really good. It is thickish semi oval at the bottom and round at the top. I usually put two grips on all my SS bats, but will stick with the one grip on RS. Robinsons quality is really top notch.

@GoodLeave good point about the mismatch in colors. I do have a blue BAS players gloves as well that I plan to use. Also, in the process of getting a RS Robinsons all white glove (clearly becoming their biggest of fans. Even their scuff sheet is top notch). Will use the Kookaburra for nets only. Thanks  :)

@DorsetDan yes it is mid to low middle. I am not sure exactly how much higher the middle. Will measure and can post back if needed.

I still have to get my gear into (the same) place. In the meantime here's a photo or two.

The theme was I needed 2 of everything. High and low(ish) middle plus T20 bats with their wet weather spares.

The pink gripped bat is the AOC test bat made by Hunts and is going very well. Turbo profile. The Vortex is the spare.

High middle bat on it's way from Hunts (Matt hybrid profile) while the Aura is the spare.

And the silver gripped one is a LB H4L Hellfire is spare for just in case something happens to the AOC Hunts.

I was fixated that I needed T20 bats so along came the Mongoose and the Uzi. Good as they are I can't see myself going to the middle with one of these so they're surplus.

The GM is promised to a team-mate. The SAF is a bit of an enigma to me. Well made but the face is too round for me and it's out of vogue. CA was my match bat but toe is cracked and needs repair. The one of the left is just an old school LH Slaz (V800?). Just wanted a cheap 'old' profile LH to see what they're about.

Pads - Puma Iridium Flex and Kook Pro's
Gloves - Ayrteks, M&H Black sausage and Kook Pro's
Thigh pads - Foxes, Remfrys and Mongoose.
Fielding pads - Foxes
Helmets - Albion 98 and Club Pro
Bags - GN Supanova, Newbery tour and Adidas players duffle.

@Mowglee123 - Master 9000 seems to have taken a lot of brunt. How long have you been using this bat? Some of my friends have had broken handle issues with this model. Wondering what is your experience ...
Title: Re: Your kit for the 2017 season
Post by: Mowglee123 on March 21, 2017, 04:26:28 PM
@sanredrose I got only one season out of it unfortunately, about 550 to 600 runs. I am a hard hitter, so that doesn't help. However, I agree with others that SS bats are relatively drier, but perform really well. Regarding the handle, it has been ok. This was a custom bat made by jatin sareen, and I think he put these stickers since this model had just been launched. I didn't pay for this bat :)

Had my kit out this evening so thought i'd throw some photos up. Bit of a Saturday night puzzle at the end too.

Nothing new for the 2017 season unfortunately. Should have some more cash towards the end of the season so i'm eagerly awaiting the EOS sales so i can fulfil my destiny of becoming Kook Surge FKW. For now i'll have to be happy with Puma FKW.

(http://i1146.photobucket.com/albums/o528/GoodLeave/IMG_0769_zpsy1r21d2g.jpg) (http://s1146.photobucket.com/user/GoodLeave/media/IMG_0769_zpsy1r21d2g.jpg.html)

The Kit:

Bats:
Puma EvoSpeed 1SE 2015 - Match Bat
Puma EvoSpeed 4 - Net Bat

Pads:
Puma EvoPower 1SE 2015

Gloves:
Puma EvoSpeed 1SE 2015

Helmet:
Shrey Masterclass Air Steel 2015, With NeckGuard 1.0 - Build quality on mine is excellent. Go figure.

Thigh Pads:
Aero P1 V6.0 Strippers

Boots:
Puma EvoSpeed 2015

Extra:
Millions of Puma Inners (Serious FKW territory)
Aero P1 Arm Guard (Never used, never seen a ball bounce over hip height in Sheffield)
Aero Abdo-Guard, With briefs not pictured
Box of Balls - New Dukes, for when i fancy an evening of swinging. Use a potato for my usual filthy Offies.

Bag:
GM Original Duffle 2016

Now. The Puzzle.

Who makes Puma? I always thought it was FCS. But i rolled down the grip to see if i could find any clues and found this "UK" mark and a stamp on the binding... Any ideas?

Okey dokey - here's mine (and before anyone says it, yes I have more bats than my talent dictates - but hey!! that's why I'm on the forum!!)

You'll have to click on the images to make them bigger I'm afraid!!

First of all the general kit:

Bag:  Faithful Salix Pod- love these, and a really good size bag for the club cricketer

Pads & Gloves:  Blank Bats plain - I cannot tell you how good this stuff is, light, comfortable and flexible

Helmet: Original 'Graham Gooch' Albion retro-lid

Thigh Pads: Strippers - can't get past them, well comfortable

(https://s16.postimg.org/oofg2r7sx/image1_-_Copy_3.jpg) (https://postimg.org/image/oofg2r7sx/)

Bats:

Right to left:

GN Nemesis 4* - 2.9lbs and well, well pingy.
Willostix Hurricane - 2.9lbs - boy does this pick-up well!!
Red Ink X2 Custom - 2.9pls - took a while to open up as last years match bat, but really flies now
H4L DVL Hellfire - 2.8lbs - This years match bat, knocked in and ready to go, mallet test would suggest a definate keeper!!!!
Chase Custom - 2,12lbs - LH / Short Blade and just bloody massive, the go-to stick for T20 violence!!!

Well, with the first friendly tomorrow, and before it rains or I have a change of heart, here are my kit bags for this season – league and my friendly side.

League first
(http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/dd117/fake_street_spirit/4dcddfaada9ee00d6a209249c7f357fc_zpsuv1ghzel.jpg)

Bat: Uzi Sports Black Mamba, 2.98. Great ping all over this bat, unlikely to be challenged for no.1 spot for a good while.
Softs: Batas Cricket, top stuff, great value and protection – really pleased with these.
Helmet, Masuri Test steel - this is a stopgap in this bag  until my new club lid arrives.
Aero P2s
Asics Gel Advance

Friendly second
(http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/dd117/fake_street_spirit/cd1b914263a6da3b1fe6cdb486f4f274_zpsvfdhbnq4.jpg)

Bats: Hunts Insignia, 2.9, GM Neon 808 – a pair of beauties from Jake at Vitas. The Hunts is proper and will step up if anything happens to the Uzi, the Neon is just waking up too.
Softs: SS Whiteouts and Newbery Marlins. Lovely.
Masuri Test steel – well, you've that those before.
Aero P2s – old, stinky, ripped and grooved to my person, hence the new ones above.
Asics 100 not outs

The league stuff packs up beautifully into a GN Legend, the friendly a chintzy Slazenger Tour SD special.

Very similar to last year for me. A splurge of orange and blue SG hilite softs (I have spare set of the pads in the garage), lovely blank bats plus some blank bats gloves, my bonkers masuri lid and the spikes...

So last year in the month before the season started I ended up with a whole new set of kit.
Despite being happy with my kit, it appears I may have done it again... 😮😮

Seems I have a load of the new adidas kit... lousy pics below, but my match kit will now be
Masuri lid with ti grille
Adidas elite pads and 2 pairs of elite gloves
SG thigh pad set
SG bag
Nike spiked trainers and some NB boots too...
And my trusty blank bats
Not sure now this happened.
Also got some adidas whites to.

FYI the pads are the same super light weight as my SG pads but a much better quality with leather instep. Likely to squeak mind!

Mostly settled on my gear.

The Bats
Custom Hunts players grade, still needs to be prepared.
Hunts AOC test bat in Revolution profile. Going very well.
GM Aura 404 with butterfly stain on the back. Wet weather/loan bat.
Plus possibly an Aldred Sovereign Butterfly.

Pads
Puma Flextech, very comfy and light.
Stretton fielding pads. I feel a must for any bowler.

Gloves
Kook Kahuna Pro players. Protection and feel.
M&H T1, cheap and good enough.

Thigh pads
White Remfrys
Black Stealth Strettons

Helmets
Albion 98
Albion Elite Pro, very light
There's also an Masuri on it's way to me.

Shoes
Adidas, replacing my SL22 mids, a lot lighter but I'm missing the extra support.
Puma Evos for when I'm feeling fleet of foot.

Match Bag
GN Supanova duffle
Newbery Tour (mainly for storage)

(http://i1290.photobucket.com/albums/b540/busav8/IMG_1769_zpsxqvnnnrw.jpg) (http://s1290.photobucket.com/user/busav8/media/IMG_1769_zpsxqvnnnrw.jpg.html)

Honourable mentions
M&H Leather bag
Adidas Players duffle
Player issue Albion 98

(http://i1290.photobucket.com/albums/b540/busav8/IMG_1770_zpsf5z6a8xb.jpg) (http://s1290.photobucket.com/user/busav8/media/IMG_1770_zpsf5z6a8xb.jpg.html)

On their way to me
Adidas Players coffin. Bought for a mate who has since changed his mind. Might interest someone outside the UK.
GM Six6 Academy Original.
Aldred Sovereign Butterfly.
Salix LH softs bought as a bundle along with LH P2 strippers and Masuri Titanium lid. Anyone fancy some cheap LH gear?

(http://i1290.photobucket.com/albums/b540/busav8/image1_zpsqojtmlkf.jpg) (http://s1290.photobucket.com/user/busav8/media/image1_zpsqojtmlkf.jpg.html)

Not made the cut
GN Lucky 7 - 2lb9oz on the handle, 2lb12oz in reality. Now modified the handle with medical tape and magnetic tape (on the knob). The pickup and feel is way better.
SafBats Origin - really nice bat but the face is too round for me.
GN Vortex 5 Star - Very nice rebound but too heavy at 2lb 10,5oz , even with the tape modifications.
GM 1885 - again very nice but face is too round for me. Team mate is after this.
H4L LB Hellfire - Spoilt for choice. No reason to be on the left behind list apart from too many bats.
Nike spikes - too big at size 46.
Albion Club - Very nice but too many helmets.

First game tomorrow
Probably using last years bat, or may dig my old Affinity toro out and use that, as I've given it a good sand and it's looking lovely.
Plus I've got three h4l Devils that may get a run out at some stage
Gonna look a bit of a tit walking out with loads a bats and swapping every 5 mins tho!

Gloves, I've got some top end slaz which I love and pads are gn lightweight things
Shoes are my old asics

And my trusty Uzi duffle

Sorted

Not sure too much has changed from 2016 but my 2017 year is all set.
Bats are L-R and in order of ranking (and all costing less than £150)
Ton Butterfly 2'8
TK made Slazenher V5 2'7
CA 5000 2'8
Blank Bats Tour shape 2'9
CA 5000 2'7 Match bat

The Ca was a £60 bargain from eBay, on her last legs now but still flies more than the rest. Battle between the Bb and her pretties sister when she does finally give up.

GN Legend pads, got a well used pair for Jake that I like so much I splashed the cash on the new ones in blue.

Newbery SPS 1
Salix Pod Pro

Stratton fox thigh guard set

Ancient non compliant Masuri kid
New balance  4020 trainers
Shock doctor jock and box

Not pictures is a Ton and Red Ink duffles.

Taken me until after my first game to get around to sorting photos. Largely because I've been spending loads of time chasing frisbees nationwide, but we have family staying next weekend so my store room/ brothers old room needs to be emptied!

This is my kit for now, but will likely change as I think my B3 is on the way out and I've trashed my softs a bit.

Bats from left to right:
Icon Signature 2lb10. Bit of a minger but definitely a goer. I love the profile but tend towards a lighter bat still. Body off Baywatch, face off Crimewatch this one.
B3 Shape 19 Bespoke 3 Stripe 2lb8. Absolute goer, but suspect a toe crack has got rapidly bigger up the face and will be terminal in the near future.
GM Flare Original 2lb9. More traditional shape, understatedly quality and a very reliable backup.
Kookaburra Impulse 950 2lb7. More a net bat or slogging bat than anything, held together with considerable amounts of glue in the shoulder, handle, splice and toe.

@mohawks94 if you're that worried about the crack in the B3 becoming terminal why don't you glue it before it gets to that stage?
Title: Re: Your kit for the 2017 season
Post by: mohawks94 on May 01, 2017, 10:48:00 AM
It was glued when it had a separate repair after last season, and I've glued it during winter nets when it opened up again. On the profile picture it's the crack on the upper edge on the toe.

I will be re-gluing it today to make sure it lasts a bit longer.

Well I think I've got my match day bag pretty much set for the season now.

Bag
Following a few rave reviews on here, and encouraged by the fact it can hold 3 bats I got myself a Supernova duffle!
(http://i1206.photobucket.com/albums/bb450/CPye061194/20170501_152445_zpsyfpf2a9l.jpg) (http://s1206.photobucket.com/user/CPye061194/media/20170501_152445_zpsyfpf2a9l.jpg.html)

Shoes
Spikes - Asics Gel Gully 3
These were in the pro direct end of season sale and I loved the colour.
Worn these in a couple of games now, rubbed a touch first game but comfy enough.
I've done the opposite of most people and replaced the normal laces with quick laces.

Astro - GM Maestro rubbers
Bought at Dummer when I turned up to net without any shoes!
Cheap but incredibly comfy. I removed the GM badges from the side so they match my other gear and swapped the laces out for quick laces.
For the price I am really impressed with these, highly recommended.

(http://i1206.photobucket.com/albums/bb450/CPye061194/20170501_153107_zpscnxeuohn.jpg) (http://s1206.photobucket.com/user/CPye061194/media/20170501_153107_zpscnxeuohn.jpg.html)

Softs/protection
GN legend batting pads.
Top of the range and rightly so, was initially unsure of the twist in these but after a couple of nets you don't notice it.
Not the lightest pads in the world, but protection and comfort is excellent!

GN prestige gloves
Classic look and sausage fingers, excellent protection, need I say more?
Some may find them a bit bulky but I love mine!

Moonwalkr thigh guards
Possibly a bit bright for some, but they go under your whites!
Light, comfy, good protection and a ridiculously good price! A great alternative to the ever popular Aero strippers

Masuri OS2 Titanium & stem guard
More classic look than the VS I had last season.
I find the OS is more comfortable and is lighter than the VSv

Oakley radars
Old faithful Oakley's I've had since 2010.
Think these are the now discontinued G26 lenses which were great for cricket (now overshadowed by the cricket specific Primz)

(http://i1206.photobucket.com/albums/bb450/CPye061194/20170501_153835_zpsrz0sm2vp.jpg) (http://s1206.photobucket.com/user/CPye061194/media/20170501_153835_zpsrz0sm2vp.jpg.html)

Match bats
Hunts County Aura 700
2lb10 & 5/8 with 1.5 grips and a scuff sheet. Bought from Jake last season and after knocking in and a few nets it started to ping nicely.

Gray Nicolls GN500
2b11 & 1/8 with 1.5 grips and a scuff sheet. Hand picked for my by Jake again.
Heartwood on the inside edge and nicely balanced. Not the prettiest face but performance more than makes up for that.

(http://i1206.photobucket.com/albums/bb450/CPye061194/20170501_160724_zps6lhywnbd.jpg) (http://s1206.photobucket.com/user/CPye061194/media/20170501_160724_zps6lhywnbd.jpg.html)

(http://i1206.photobucket.com/albums/bb450/CPye061194/20170501_160816_zpscw9f9rgt.jpg) (http://s1206.photobucket.com/user/CPye061194/media/20170501_160816_zpscw9f9rgt.jpg.html)

(http://i1206.photobucket.com/albums/bb450/CPye061194/20170501_160850_zpsrdgfi8ra.jpg) (http://s1206.photobucket.com/user/CPye061194/media/20170501_160850_zpsrdgfi8ra.jpg.html)

For net use/being played in
Hunts County Aura batting gloves
Bought to match my bat, nice and flexible. Good protection & pittard palms

Gray Nicolls Velocity XP1 550 batting gloves.
Bought these as a bit of an impulse buy in Serious Cricket.
I removed the Velocity badges as they weren't central and it was doing my head in!
Very comfortable for sub £30 gloves and ideal for net use.

Forest Storm white bat
2lb10 & 1/2 with 1.5 grips and a scuff sheet. Being borrowed by a teammate who seems to like it.
This is almost a Laver esque profile with plenty of wood in the hitting area.

Hunts County custom
2lb11 dead with 1.5 grips. I have knocked this in and the response when tapping up a ball is rather good.
I need to apply a scuff sheet and get using this now!

Gray Nicolls Sabre
2lb9 & 7/8 with 1.5 grips. Bought from Jake as I have a bit of a soft spot for scoopy Gray Nicolls bats.
Repaired a crack on the edge it got after one use (should have used the middle). Need to apply a new scuff sheet and get using it again!

(http://i1206.photobucket.com/albums/bb450/CPye061194/20170501_175701_zps4p3dyczy.jpg) (http://s1206.photobucket.com/user/CPye061194/media/20170501_175701_zps4p3dyczy.jpg.html)

(http://i1206.photobucket.com/albums/bb450/CPye061194/20170501_161437_zpsdnbmvppf.jpg) (http://s1206.photobucket.com/user/CPye061194/media/20170501_161437_zpsdnbmvppf.jpg.html)

(http://i1206.photobucket.com/albums/bb450/CPye061194/20170501_161739_zpsf0kmsdsr.jpg) (http://s1206.photobucket.com/user/CPye061194/media/20170501_161739_zpsf0kmsdsr.jpg.html)

Rather worryingly I still have plenty of decent willow waiting to be used that isn't included in this lot.
It's a nice problem to have but I may need to have a clear out at some stage... :-[

Mines nearly complete once pads and gloves arrive next week, bat going well and finally found the middle of it at the weekend a few times. Still searching for the perfect duffle that has capacity and pockets to suit my needs.

Two days before the season starts, and my number one bat is away being checked over by the doctor at B3, and the handle on my number two has broken this evening. Down to my Flare and Icon, plus two Legget bats that are too heavy. Great.

Ah only 4 bats to choose from - only could this be a catrosphiry on the forum! 😂

Realistically two as the leggets are far too heavy for scrawny me and are both on ebay at present. Frustrating as I look after my sticks properly. But I can see why that may come across as a bit uptight from me.

After the toe dropped off my match bat last week, the legend Mr Hosk, quickly sorted me out a stunner

And,,, it's a Salix
Absolute weapon, the middle on it, is huge, just a beautiful piece of English craftsmanship

I've taken the plunge & reduced to 2 match bats for the season - the pick of which is this MRF
I obtained it from a fellow enthusiast and crickey it goes.
Two grips and a light oil has taken it to 2.12

Hi all, I've not seen much on here about this boutique brand called Elite Cricket but I have started using this gear this season after using big brands in the past who are just after your money and no customer service!

Its a new boutique brand from Scarborough in Yorkshire and so far so good, this kit is amazing! The brand is run by a Father and Son I think based up there and the kit is absolutely class!

Ive got full gear with keeping gear also, and to put it to the big brands, this keeping gear is the best I have ever used I used to use GM and that was it I was a keeping snob with that brand! The gloves are so soft and supple and you can wear them straight out of the packet, which for any keeper will know is brilliant!
Could someone help me upload pictures, it wont let me for some reason.

Thanks

Bat 1 bought, Phantom - Made in India (believed to be the same as Vitas Lion bats) - 2lbs 9, New for 2017/18, mix between Illusion and Cyborg (asked for Illusion stickers), came with a full length Orange bat cover.
Shoulder: 15 mm
Edge:37 mm
Toe:15mm
Spine:60mm

Bat 2, Pryzm P4 (Grade 3) like a H4L Devil...but cheaper with code atm (MYSTERY) and you get a hat! 2lbs 10, hand made in the UK!
Shoulder:10mm
Edge:35mm
Toe:20mm
Spine:59mm

Observations,:-
Pick Up: Both pick up very well, Phantom wins as its lighter
Handle: Pryzm oval, Phantom Round
Response: without knocking in, Pryzm wins, a trampoline like bounce already
Price: Both cost the same, but I am sure the Phantom will be more expensive when it officially comes out. Both between £125 and £130 posted.
Grains: I had a choice for both, picked the best Pryzm wins with 8 straight grains, take those blemishes out between the grains and its a G1 Easily! Phantom has 6
Finish: both exceptional
Shape: almost identical, Phantom spine runs slightly lower.

Have already sold the Phantom to a team mate, he picked it up and said wow! How Much...I was silly enough to not make a profit lol, but he now has no excuse to blame the bat!

Overall, I would say these are great bats to have a go with!

Hope you Enjoyed!

Have finally added the final touches to my kit for this season. Needless to say now I am a FKW. This kit should last me to the end of next season, but as a forumite, there is always a chance/inevitability that I'll get more.

Really happy with the selection of bats that I've got for this year, most of which won't be allowed if the regs went across all the divisions, hopefully won't come to mine!

Apologies for the ridiculous sizing of these pictures, still trying to work Imgur out!

The ping is exceptional that is for sure mate! Ping from just above the toe to just below the stickers. At the moment using the one with blue stickers as my love for shorter blade bats grows.

@Sivlar13  - Sylvia, I'm not very 'au fait' with the B&s range. Is the shorter blade / longer handle one a standard model?  also, what is the purple-stickered one on the far left? That is a very interesting shape.

The shorter blade one isn't a standard model unfortunately, only a few of them were produced I believe. One of my favourites though for sure!

The purple stickered one is a refurbished Kippax with a change of stickers! Very square.
