My god! What are the weights on those? Have to be low density clefts if they are under 3lb. I picked up a GN 50+, for its size quite well balanced but far too heavy for me to use. I assume the bat size restrictions are only for First Class cricket and bats such as these monsters are still fine to use in local comps?

All these have come labelled as 2.14 lb's the pickup is really light and feels better than my 2.9lb DC1080LE or my Kahuna.
I think club cricket should be fine :D

Why so many?
-
Maybe hes an octopus. Definitely mad though! :)
-
Are u planning to sell them on profit when the stop making them :D
-
Can never have enough :D
Will be a sad day when extremely big bats are gone from the mainstream
-
Should get a group shot of the shoulders on these up in the GN stamps thread mate!
Are the profiles on these all very similar, or is there some variation?
-
Also...none of them have even had the grip stickers removed??
-
They all have just "T" stamped.
Theres quite a variation on profiles.
The biggest one is about 55mm+ edge that's almost as big as the spine.
The thinnest edge one was around 47mm.
And the position of middles have slight variations.
Not using any atm so hence havent taken the packaging off. Will probably give the xp80 a go first sometime in the near future.

@Shinpathy are u in UK brother?

No bro, I'm in AUS :D.

What's the ping like mate?

Amazing monster bats. Are they all same specifications or each one is different?

Read a few posts up....or back... Whatever! But he had already answered that.
-
You'd be raided by multiple taxmen if you were here in India mate. That's a monstrous collection to say the least. Wicked !!
-
What's the ping like mate?
Pings extremely well, the 47mm one pings surprisingly the best and feels like a trampoline even near the toe.
They don't look too aesthetically pleasing in terms of grains but that's a opportunity cost with these huge bats, I'm jealous of the guys who have very nice grains on their kabooms and 50+...
-

Thanks I guess I skipped it!
I have been looking for kaboom for myself but couldn't find one which is of my liking.
-

Thanks,
even though the pickup of these bats are amazing, I'm not confident enough to be wielding them in actual matches, I'll probably use one for some satisfying net sessions and see how it goes.
-
Very impressive collection of GN big bats but Out of curiousity why so many of the same shape and model? Do u have more bats from other manufacturers in your collection.
-

Wow! 5 x net bats!
-
That does seem like an insane amount, but if you've the money to warrant it then fair enough.
Would love to own one of these but the idea of spending £300+ and then getting stung on imports etc is just beyond me

Got quite a few but not worth mentioning...
Just love the innovation from GN and since the restrictions are coming in, better to keep some handy :)

Mate i wouldn't be panicking. The restrictions on bat size will have bugger all to do with the mass retail of bats to weekend wackers that are climbing all over these giant logs. Theres just no reason for them to stop supplying such an eager market when they have no legal obligation to restrict them. Well at least thats the way id be thinking if i was gn....

absolutely, club cricket is impossible to regulate. I could be wrong but laminated bats were outlawed about 10 years ago and some of us play against guys with laminates pretty much most weekends.
a well made laminate is virtually impossible to tell from a normal big bat(very hard to see the line on the face)
-
Gn have 2 50plus left then that's it already have 2017 stock 50plus not in the range kabooms will be smaller to meet icc rules keep watching warners bats over the next 6 months it will be going on a diet
-
Although us Clubbies shouldn't be Policed or have our big bats excluded from use for a few years, (IF AT ALL) We are still likely to see the size of the bats in the shops get smaller, as the Brand models are always a reflection of what their Pro players are using! And as they will be using smaller bats due to these new regulations, it is only logical that the brands will offer these models.
This reason alone is a fantastic excuse for all of us to go treat ourselves to a huge monster of a bat ;)

Or to go custom... excellent opportunity for getting a bat made in front of you.

Well thats disappointing then. Especially since we never saw Lynn Replicas, which, by all accounts are bigger again. I dont understand why they wouldn't keep producing something for a market not affected by the new regulations. Considering just how popular they have proven to be. As for bats the public buy being a "reflection" of what their pro players use. Hasn't that (despite a true "replica") been proven over and over again to be nothing more than a reflection of the stickers they use/promote?? Chucking the baby out with the bath water!
-
I was in GCCC a week ago and they had 3 50+ and 2 Warners on the shelf. Other GCCC's would have more. Also have Kingsgrove/Meulemans/KD Sport that'll have a bit of stock, so there will be plenty still out there.
The only place I've seen anyone buy these is on here haha. Haven't come across anyone at my club, or anyone we've played against, have a 50+ or Players Edition Kaboom. Closest I've seen is @Wickets-then-runs have a custom Legend in the Warner shape, which was very nice
-
I would assume retail outlets would still have some , can only comment on what GN factory has , have 3 50plus & 2 warners in my club all loved by their owners & there is a lynn bat in the 2017 lineup , so keep an eye out.

But judging by what youve said its unlikely to be a replica based on what hes currently using though?

I keep being drawn back to this post.
No matter how large my bat collection now gets, or how much quality willow I may or may not manage to accuire, I'll always look and think to myself "this is good, but it's not 5 Dave Warner Kabooms..."
-
Agreed @WalkingWicket37 - and if you can't bat with them, they look like they would be super for forming butter pats.
-
Whoohoo! Love the bats and you can never have enough of a single type. Especially if they work for you in the middle. That said I’d just like to set them up in the lounge room and look at them. Great stuff.
-

Hey mate I just got one of these. Did you bother oiling yours before use???
-
Yep definitely.
Also got a 6th one but that one only has a 47mm Edge and a 72mm Spine so a bit disappointed in terms of size but still pings like a absolute rocket.

You won't like the next ones then, I got confirmation email from GN last week that his bats will be made to suit new laws, XP and 50 plus are gone.

Luckily I stocked up while I can then :D...
Damn thought the 50 plus were still going to be in for the next season.
Wonder how the new Kabooms will look like any ideas?

Check number4 post "is it a bird is it a plane" next seasons chrome kaboom

Forgot to add , this seasons gn bats in aus are stamped with a U on the handle

Physically generally early July. I viewed range about a month ago and was impressed, it needed a freshen up.

Not much to leak really, most of the new stuff has been on the TV at some stage. 50 plus was in catalogue but pulled when laws were passed, they have changed the name but kept same colour scheme and shrunk it to the max size allowed.

Pretty sure their Specialist/Handcrafted range (Legend/Ultimate/Prestige, etc) are made in Australia and the rest made in India. Not sure on the Kaboom however...

Pretty disappointing with everything going to be made already within the MCC restrictions...
The predator stickers look the best of the lot IMO.

They are still big bats, just not as massive as they were. Won't make any difference to how far the pro's will hit the ball, it's a massive over reaction.
-
The GN site shows 3 different profiles for the Velocity. The first appears to be similar to the Lynn profile, next is probably the MCC compliant profile and the third is the XP80.
I wonder if GN are going to make them available to order?
-

It's a huge difference for the general public and how they perceive different bats, the differentiation between different bats will be even less now.
40mm max edges with 60mm spines
-
Measured up one of my bats today to find it exactly fits the new regs... it's still a bloody massive bit of wood. I know I've mishit a six with it and I'm certainly no pro.
-

Bats here in Australia the vast majority we sell are under 2.10, a full bat at maximum specs will still be a very big bat, I can't think of any high end grade player that bought any of the Warners, 50+ or XP models, all too heavy, mainly sold to park cricket biffers. I don't think there will be much affect at all, people forget that this forum is very different to the general buying public.
-
Of course that is at the extreme end of bug bats spectrum.
But bats like Steve Smiths current one or Maxwells will definitely be out.
They are like 2.8-2.9 with the regular 40ish mm edges but the spine is definitely way beyond 60mm.
-
I thought the max specs were 40mm edge nand 67mm spine?
http://www.cricket.com.au/news/bat-sizes-limit-restrictions-mcc-laws-of-cricket-code-warner-mankad-handling-the-ball/2017-03-07 (http://www.cricket.com.au/news/bat-sizes-limit-restrictions-mcc-laws-of-cricket-code-warner-mankad-handling-the-ball/2017-03-07)
My current bat has 42mm edges and a 65mm spine. If I get a new bat at max spec then there is negligible difference, but obviously how they are shaped can differ, concaving, low/mid/high sweet spot locations.

67 is correct.
-
It's 60mm from the edge and 67mm from the face to allow for a maximum 7mm camber. If your bat only has a 2mm camber then too bad - it's still only 60mm from the bottom of the edge (corner of edge and face).

Ha Ha yeah, bouncy wickets and that I suppose. Hence the great buy's at the end of the season for XP bats.

I was surprised the discounts on the XP's were so high! They seem perfectly suited to fast bouncy wickets with the nice mid-high middle and the performance from them is unreal!

I believe there is some leeway for previously purchased bats. Bat size restrictions come into immediate effect for international players. I believe village cricketers like me, are allowed to carry around a GN50+ until it breaks :D

They have sold better to UK and US than here, same as 50 plus.

People here rather buy whatever bats their favourite pro's are using on TV.
The Kookaburra's, New Balances etc

I have never seen or picked up a warner bat or 50+ but i always thought that extra amount of wood would be useless for those in 2.8-2.10 range.... agree, biffers would love it :)
-
Using 2.7-2.8 bats, I can only dream about using one of these big GN bats. I still love the idea of getting one, but I don't think I could use it.

Love this and the atomic. Its a shame tho probably will crack/break up at the shoulders like all the gray nics I've seen.

So ALL the GN's, literally every single one that youve seen, has cracks and or broken shoulders?

Every Player from my club that has a gray nic have broken at the shoulder.

Ive had several GNs over the years from new (Excalibur, Powerbow x2, Oblivion) and not had one go at the shoulder. I believe all mine were made at Robertsbridge, certainly the first 3
