The sticker industry must be doing outrageously well for themselves!
Koala Cricket this time.

That's a very productive way of asking for Sponsorship 😂😂😂😂

That's a very productive way of asking for Sponsorship 😂😂😂😂
Tbf, sponsorship is quite amusing. Genuinely decent adults who potentially influence people st their club are ignored and a few kids who will never be much cop or some lads who attend some coahcing courses and babysit 'county' kids are giving cheaper kit..
I don't blame people for trying when the bar is thst low tbf
-
I must get 40 to 50 a day pre season I out lay my criteria for Sponsorship and guess what not one acceptance.
After each season any sponsored players staying on with B&S either return their kit to me and I send it to a Phil Tufnell run charity for disadvantaged kids playing the Sport or I let my sponsored players donate the kit to a youngster of their choice who plays at their club but you are right most of the people doing all the work behind the scene do go un rewarded

I like to give a more personal and mischevious reply.
I had someone ask for Focus sponsorship last year who's stats i found on play-cricket, he had averaged 3 (yes, three) in a division 6 leagues below ECB prem, i let him know what i thought about his request for FREE kit lol.

Had to laugh at that Jake, that's amusing.

My funniest so far is a request was sent for Sponsorship he did tell me that a certain Brand currently gave him 75 % Discount but felt he needed a change I duly suggested that with such a good Discount don't even think about leaving and good luck for the forth coming season . His response your kit looks (No Swearing Please) I wouldn't want it anyway

Bats look good but Some interesting posts on their Facebook page which would concern me a little
-
Bats by the radiator to 'Remove any moisture' before sending out is certainly a bit worrying.
Give them a very wide berth.
-
These guys are very local to me (as in the club I play for is on the outskirts of the town they are based) - I may have to find out who's behind the name out of interest.

Absolutely shocking if you ask me, what are they thinking lol
-
It's a guy called David toft that's running it with a mate. He plays first team for thexample same club as me. Good block and a quality cricketer.
All the best to them both.
-

Exactly! If people want a light bat with big edges they should get a size 4 like yours, shouldn't they! ;)
-
Good name, we have a few batsmen that are called Koalas here, as in protected species.
-
@WalkingWicket37 @uknsaunders @Gurujames - Very strange that as 'bat experts' you wouldn't know to put it next to a radiator when just made to dry glue? There's us thinking we are decent players but didn't know that much about bats, come on here and they know even less. Thank you to everyone who has supported us so far though. Appreciate it!

Shots fired
-
I am yet to see or hear of bat-makers using radiators to dry glue, sounds like a great way to reduce moisture in the bat.
-
@KoalaCricket Also what glue are you even drying? The bats already have stickers on and are already shaped so not the handle/splice.
-
This is more of a general observation about this type of brand, if i was to startup a brand and make the bats myself, i would be sure that my social media was full of pictures of clefts, handles going in, all the machinery i used etc. All i ever see on facebook/twitter from this sort of brand is photos of shelf ready bats with stickers on them, or 'part mades' that literally need the once over with some sandpaper to become finished bats.
Not a direct attack here as i have no particular agenda other than my general observation above, but Koala you have suggested you are making them and that you need for some absurb reason to place them near a heat source to allow glue to dry. Heat melts adhesives used in stickers and anti-scuff, the same goes for old school animal glue used by some batmakers for handles, it in fact needs heating up in order to get it into a state where it is of a low enough viscosity to be applied.
To my knowledge PVA is reasonably stable under a wide range of temperatures. Contact adhesive for toe guards doesn't like heat at all.
So as Tom asks, whats the glue you are 'drying' ?
-
@KoalaCricket welcome to the forum mate, always nice to have new brands/batmakers on board :)
I'm not sure why you tagged me in your post about radiators, as I never said anything about it.
As you're new around here you wouldn't know than Nick (@uknsaunders) is actually 3ft7. My post was a joke directed at him, and nothing directed towards yourself.
Hope this clears up any confusion.

Don't think anyone here actually claims to be a bat expert, nothing wrong with questioning things though is there!! Can some of the actual batnakers on here clear this up? @hell4leather cricket for instance?
-
Taken from the website, interestingly offering 3 different grades of grade 1... lol
"Koala Cricket is a UK based cricket brand, set up with a focus on providing traditional, professional level cricket equipment for genuine affordable prices.
Operating from our two northern bases, Sheffield and Manchester - we only provide GRADE 1, English willow, hand crafted by our team here in the North.
Koala Cricket is the perfect solution to every cricketer, with the ability to provide all players with bespoke cricket bats alongside our classic soft equipment; Koala is the perfect choice of cricket brand!
Koala Cricket’s members of staff have a true passion for the game and will only allow the best equipment to be used by all players, whether you are a recreation player or England Test match opener. Have look at our website, make a purchase and join Team Koala."
That clears it up then @Vitas Cricket - they must clearly make their own bats! :)
-
So not only do they make their own bats but an England test match opener uses them!
-
@KoalaCricket Also what glue are you even drying? The bats already have stickers on and are already shaped so not the handle/splice.
On the Koala FB page, you can read the following: 'We have put our anti-scuff face and edging tape on, now it's time to sit next to the radiator in our Head Office to remove any moisture, before they find new homes!'.
Possibly the adhesive in the scuff sheet and edging tape needs to be dried out a little, to help it stay firmly stuck? Not entirely sure.
-
Thanks everyone for the welcome. Sometimes we use a little bit of glue on the handle to make gripping easier, there are adhesives on bathe anti scuff face and tape.
We do make our own bats and we do select grade 1 willow for the top of the range as other grade one willow may have blemishes.
Does anyone here play at a very good level? Talking ECB premier league cricket, minor county XI upwards?

Lots of good players on here, they'll be interested to hear more about your kit. Explain a bit more about the unique design. I'm getting on a bit so I like a light pick-up, what does your batmaker do differently?
I see what you mean about using glue on the handle. Helps the grip to stay in place I suppose?

Ok @KoalaCricket - I've had a drink, so I'll bite.
So you place your completed bats by the radiator to dry the glue on the binding of the handle and the glue on the anti-scuff?
You employ your own batmaker? He makes bats exclusively for you - or do you employ a bat-maker who make bats for lots of people and you buy finished bats from him?
Are you lucky enough to buy just Grade 1 willow, and not have to buy Grade 3 and Grade 4 willow from your supplier at the same time?
By the way, apart from having to field the annoying question from a non Minor counties player like me, I must say I really like your stickers - excellent design work there!
-
Oh crap Bruce has had a drink ruuuuunnnn or put bats up for sale
Either or
-
Bruce never just has one drink!
-
It's Guinness Hop House tonight - if you have anything to sell, you have about 2 hours before I fall asleep!!!!

-
