Title: T20 Blast
Post by: rickjames on July 07, 2017, 07:20:48 PM
Another year, another fun summer of T20 awaits. That Gloucs/Middlesex game being a tie to start it all off as well

Good performance here from Sibley for Surrey considering we were in a bit of a sticky situation.

Yorkies got a decent start. 227 in 20.

Hales was enjoying the track, he was the 2nd wicket to fall and he got 47. Notts 55-2 at that time.

TOM CURRAN YA BEAUTY. Thought the game had gone after Dernbach's terrible over...

Draw and a last ball finish on game day 1! Good cricket.

Ipl didn't get a close game till 5weeks in.....

Now if only we could televise all the blast games, highlights packages? It may become successful enough to not need the franchise thing.

As much as I like Freddie. We're not even halfway through the game and I'm already tired of him...

Flintoff was terrible in the Big Bash, I thought he was just putting it on for the Aussie audience but that must just be his commentary voice

Luke Fletcher been whacked straight on the head as he followed through in his delivery stride, didn't have time to react or anything. He was able to walk off but doesn't look good. I hope he's okay

How on earth did they let it get that close? I left when the 8th wicket went down at 106.
Title: Re: T20 Blast
Post by: rickjames on July 09, 2017, 08:20:46 PM
Penalty runs, Dernbach as the captain completely lost with the over rates. I will guess Borthwick/Sibley came on and Anderson demolished them.
Title: Re: T20 Blast
Post by: Bats_Entertainment on July 09, 2017, 08:35:57 PM
I saw Sibley and Borthwick bowl their overs, so not entirely a satisfactory answer.

Borthwick's being picked as a bowler in this format, so shouldn't be considered a liability?
Title: Re: T20 Blast
Post by: rickjames on July 09, 2017, 09:10:47 PM
Well Borthwick went for 15 off 1, add 12 penalty runs and that feels satisfactory enough to me as well Rampaul going for under 11 an over.

The Borthwick 15 was included in my 106. But I'll take 12 penalty runs and (the usually steady?) Rampaul letting the side down as sufficient explanation. Thanks.

KPs innings was so odd; reverse sweep for four, four sixes in an over off Harmer that all went to cow and then a straight shot for six off Tendo. Seems to have lost any ability to run a two

Oh dear kp sells finch down the river! Then asks for a runner coming in with an injury. Surely not allowed but baz has allowed it.

Freddie's commentary is extremely poor, far over the top.

Flintoff is trying to make it like a darts match I think.

The runner may be up to the umpire and not the captain.

He's out now I'm sure Finch will have a word  :)

I imagine they're concentrating on producing a road for next week.

Predictable innings; openers get 60-70 odd for no loss then we lose a flurry, don't do much and then rely on the bowlers to dig us out...
Title: Re: T20 Blast
Post by: ppccopener on July 21, 2017, 07:24:50 PM
The were great for the champions trophy maybe the extra games took their toll on the square.

There's no doubt Malan is a good player, good chance to show what he can do, and maybe impress before the test match.

Bayliss seems to like one day players to 'transfer over'

Willey hundred had some cracking hitting.

But man Worcesters whiteley can smoke a ball! 7 sixes in a row. 6 in one over off calver... Enjoyed it.

"I asked the captain and coach yesterday if I could bat higher up the order because seven or eight is not my position," Afridi said, after his brilliant 101 - his first century in the shortest form of the game - set Hampshire on their way to a seventh finals day in eight seasons.

"In crucial games you have to take chances. The first six overs are important and you need batters who play aggressively like me to utilise this.

"I wanted to put pressure on them from the start although it was not easy because the new ball was seaming. The first six overs are important and I tried to start on the attack."

Hampshire all-rounder Shahid Afridi tells Sky Sports:

"For the whole season I've not been feeling right, at about 60 or 70 % fitness because of my lower back and side.

"This is a crucial game, so I thought I had to take a chance. I'm never afraid of failure, I was waiting for that opportunity."

With  four balls left The one and half extra overs surrey  bowled  and the free hits helped  them lose it Without these regardless of umpires decisions Surrey would have won.

Robbed by some dreadful third umpiring

Great victory by the bears

Wasn't really dodgy third umpire it was the standing umpires (I thought it was out) same as night before the soft signal sways the third umpire as he has to be 100% the on field are wrong and the soft signal last night was not out of it was out it would have been given

Still would have won as de grandhomme was smashing it (straight to fielders in air)

Yep it was definitely the on field umpires that were at fault. Once the soft signal is not out they gave the 3rd umpire no choice really with those replays.

But you also have to say the wides by Dernbach and Curran at the end and the dropped catch weren't great by Surrey.

Is anyone going to Finals Day today. I will be there with about 20 others on a stag do.

We are all going as Umpires and then putting the Stag in full kit . Until the final game when they are making him put on a kim Kardashian style dress!

Samit puts Woakes over the  boundrary 17 off the over.
Excellent comeback by Notts to finish on 190.

Is Samit Patel the most perfect player ever?

He's a proper cricketers build, can hit a long ball and bowls spin. I think he's second only to Dwayne Leverock on my list of all time favourite players

Would franchise cricket result in Freddie Flintoff performing an Elvis song to a group of Power Rangers live on Sky?
If not we need to keep the format exactly as it is! Finals day is one of the most awesome events of the year
