Another year, another fun summer of T20 awaits. That Gloucs/Middlesex game being a tie to start it all off as well
Good performance here from Sibley for Surrey considering we were in a bit of a sticky situation.
-
Yorkies got a decent start. 227 in 20.
Hales was enjoying the track, he was the 2nd wicket to fall and he got 47. Notts 55-2 at that time.
-
TOM CURRAN YA BEAUTY. Thought the game had gone after Dernbach's terrible over...
-
Draw and a last ball finish on game day 1! Good cricket.
Ipl didn't get a close game till 5weeks in.....
Now if only we could televise all the blast games, highlights packages? It may become successful enough to not need the franchise thing.
-
As much as I like Freddie. We're not even halfway through the game and I'm already tired of him...
On... and on... and on... and on... and on... and on...
-
It's like hes been turned up to 11, enthusiastic doesn't come close
-
Village Klaxon.
Tom Moores. TC Gloves, DC bat.
Savage.
-
Flintoff was terrible in the Big Bash, I thought he was just putting it on for the Aussie audience but that must just be his commentary voice
-
Luke Fletcher been whacked straight on the head as he followed through in his delivery stride, didn't have time to react or anything. He was able to walk off but doesn't look good. I hope he's okay
-
Game on pause for 10 min break to see if Notts can carry on so was a nasty one
Lumb had tears
-

Not the best quality, but its on youtube - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fa5fF482GEo (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fa5fF482GEo)

Wasn't there today but another brilliant death over from Tom Curran get us over the line. Might be the answer England have been looking for...
-
How on earth did they let it get that close? I left when the 8th wicket went down at 106.
-
Penalty runs, Dernbach as the captain completely lost with the over rates. I will guess Borthwick/Sibley came on and Anderson demolished them.
-
I saw Sibley and Borthwick bowl their overs, so not entirely a satisfactory answer.
Borthwick's being picked as a bowler in this format, so shouldn't be considered a liability?
-
Well Borthwick went for 15 off 1, add 12 penalty runs and that feels satisfactory enough to me as well Rampaul going for under 11 an over.
-

The Borthwick 15 was included in my 106. But I'll take 12 penalty runs and (the usually steady?) Rampaul letting the side down as sufficient explanation. Thanks.
-
Why does sangakarra always make it look like he is batting on a completely different surface to everyone else
Just different gravy
-
I'd say Malan was making it look pretty easy too - he could be an interesting limited overs pick for England - he looks very comfortable at the crease!
-
Franklin rocking a Keeley bat by the looks of it.
-
Who do I bother supporting Surrey
-
Looking forward to seeing Ben Coad bowl.
He reminds me of someone...
-
Holy (No Swearing Please)... Mason Crane!!
-
Can Tymal Mills replace Flintoff full time?
Please?
-
52 for kp on his comeback. Still class!
-
Anybody else feel with such a good top order Surrey batsman don't apply themselves and think stuff it the guy below me is good enough
-
KPs innings was so odd; reverse sweep for four, four sixes in an over off Harmer that all went to cow and then a straight shot for six off Tendo. Seems to have lost any ability to run a two
-

That comes with age doesn't it?
I find twos hard to run Myself these days....
-
Sanga does alright at it, he's even keeping tonight!
Then again he's not fielding right now either
-
Reckon worcs thought that with that score they would win lost with ten balls left.
-
Oh dear kp sells finch down the river! Then asks for a runner coming in with an injury. Surely not allowed but baz has allowed it.
Freddie's commentary is extremely poor, far over the top.
-
Flintoff is trying to make it like a darts match I think.
The runner may be up to the umpire and not the captain.
He's out now I'm sure Finch will have a word :)
-
End of kp?
-

Umpire probably felt pressured given it's a packed crowd and it's KP.
-
Yes quite possibly :)
More disappointed Sanga is out myself.
Looks like turn at the Oval ...looks like Malan bowls back of the hand
-
Very poor pitch for t20 cricket. 3rd game on it...and last game 150 was enough. What's happened to the usual oval wickets
-
I imagine they're concentrating on producing a road for next week.
Predictable innings; openers get 60-70 odd for no loss then we lose a flurry, don't do much and then rely on the bowlers to dig us out...
-
The were great for the champions trophy maybe the extra games took their toll on the square.
There's no doubt Malan is a good player, good chance to show what he can do, and maybe impress before the test match.
Bayliss seems to like one day players to 'transfer over'
-
Now Stirling has Baz running for him. I think this might be the most village game of T20 I've ever seen
-
Franklin with a Keeley bat I see
-
Lovely looking it is too.
In the shops....ah....not yet :)
-
Bowlers bailing us out again, thank God.
-
Was in attendance at tonight's yorkshire game. Half event crowd but nothing like Surrey and that get down south.
Willey hundred had some cracking hitting.
But man Worcesters whiteley can smoke a ball! 7 sixes in a row. 6 in one over off calver... Enjoyed it.

Was also at the game yesterday. It was a great advertisement for the blast.
Wiley's hitting was devastating & Worcestershire looked like knocking the score off for quiet a spell.
-
Still disappointed there's not much highlights of blast games.
When I guy does a feat like that, and all the ecb can get as highlights is this.

Willey was hitting some huge sixes. Quiet a few got hit into the roof of the football stand.
-
guys any links to highlights.

Watching Rashid bowl against Durham this evening don't understand why he's not in the test side
-
Watching Rashid bowl against Durham this evening don't understand why he's not in the test side
Because he isn't a "first spinner"? :D
-
Hate to say it, but Freddie needs to adopt the 'less is more' approach. He sounds like a kid whose eaten too many E numbers.
-

Watching Cook bat today against South Africa I don't understand why he's not in the T20 side.
;)
-
This is absolute carnage from Lyth and Kohler-Cadmore. Sound of these bats is beautiful.
-
Agreed ^^ might be the best/most entertaining start to a T20 innings I've ever seen!

Notts hitting 107 off 6 overs was impressive

Hardly impressive given how far the boundaries have been in at Notts this year - 55m boundaries!

And another today by Kents Neesham
-
Adam Milne gets Kents best t20 bowling figures of 5 for 11
-
FINCHY
-
Yep 107 inc 30 off one over
-
I've been to the Durham game today, Latham was fielding on the boundary and gets his bats from SG, not laver. Got a good photo with Jennings who is a top lad to speak to, loads of time for everyone

Was the Surrey game a sell out? Just turned on the womens game and surprised at how few stuck around.

A fair few extra seats in the ground while watching earlier.
-

No. Evening games often sell out, but not Saturday and Sunday afternoons.
-

Still baffled at why they didn't have the women's game earlier (say 12:30) followed by the men's. As for crowd its what you'd expect for a Sunday night almost anywhere.

You asked him?

Men's preparation deemed more important?
-

No, I'm telepathic within 20m
-
JB sounds like a proper family day out good on Jennings
So Latham gets his from his sponsor good on him good player
-

Didn't stop them having the womens game first the other day, although The Oval doesn't have the benefit of an outdoor practise area I guess.

I went with the wife, both kids the in laws and the wife's sister and her partner Dave! Cracking day out, Lathams bat sounded awesome for the short time he was in so when he came close to us I got him to sign a 4 card and asked him where they were made! Jennings was going back on to the pitch when I called him he ran straight back up the stairs
-

Not a sell out around 16,000 instead of 20,000 plus for an evening game Sunday afternoon more of a family occasion weekday evenings you get the city crowd in.
-
Both sky and the official t20 blast Facebook page are not putting Hampshire as already qualified on their south group tables but I can't work out how any set of results can possibly take them out of the top 4 now?
-
Keaton jennings run out for 1
-
Bit of a farce that. Gone to the third umpire for the no ball and the Durham fielders are so sure that it's a no ball that they're back in their fielding positions ready for the next one only for the umpire to give it out.

Saw that, For me it was a no ball as it looked like no part of his foot was behind the line.
Very hard to see as the camera angle was skewed.
-
Cracking bowling from Parkinson
Big turn!
-
An absolutely mental evening in the Blast all over the place.
God knows how we made chasing down 130 look so difficult.
-
Unreal from Lyth.
-
Yorkshire at home have been unreal.
Lyth, Willey, cadmore, have all been smoking it.. And some good cameos from marsh, handscombe, plus. Kettle rashid and runs have come easy.
Shame we can't take that on the road, which will cost us in the semi's,/finals day if we can't.
-
I love Rikki Clarke
-
Notts derby Leicester and Birmingham through in the north group!
-
Anyone know when the quarter final day allocation will be announced?
-
I love Rikki Clarke
that signings already paid off!

that signings already paid off!
It always seemed a banker to me, to be honest.
-
I hate hampshite! Showing away our chances by getting Skittled so easily!
Admittedly a few games sussex should have won and didny but even still. Its all @WalkingWicket37's fault
-
Maiden t20 ton for boom boom
-
Big game and Boom Boom steps up. Always should have opened in T20s with the powerplay.
-
That's how to hit a cricket ball!!
-
Afridi 101 of 34 balls Hampshire get 8th highest t20 score anywhere and i the third highest in the UK.
-
Afridi 101 of 34 balls Hampshire get 8th highest t20 score anywhere and i the third highest in the UK.
Afridi scored 101 of 42 but still a very very destructive knock, 249 will i hope be completely insurmountable for derbyshire
-
About time Afridi fired with the bat!
Maybe he was on a salary for the group games, then paid on a performance basis for any games past that...
-
You could argue the boundaries are too short.....but passers by outside the ground seem in most danger :)
-
7 finals days in 8 years! Edgbaston here we come!

They'll be dancing in the streets of Bloemfontein

It's basically Kolpac CC's in the T20 quarters! More SA's in all the teams than English I reckon!

Legend
-
"I asked the captain and coach yesterday if I could bat higher up the order because seven or eight is not my position," Afridi said, after his brilliant 101 - his first century in the shortest form of the game - set Hampshire on their way to a seventh finals day in eight seasons.
"In crucial games you have to take chances. The first six overs are important and you need batters who play aggressively like me to utilise this.
"I wanted to put pressure on them from the start although it was not easy because the new ball was seaming. The first six overs are important and I tried to start on the attack."
Hampshire all-rounder Shahid Afridi tells Sky Sports:
"For the whole season I've not been feeling right, at about 60 or 70 % fitness because of my lower back and side.
"This is a crucial game, so I thought I had to take a chance. I'm never afraid of failure, I was waiting for that opportunity."
-
Bit surprising Ingram can't get in the SA side. Every time I check the scores he gets runs. Even in the SA domestic stuff
-
Always good to see Trego put in his place
-
19 runs from a poor eighteen over lost Somerset that one
-
Please can Surrey not lose this evening
-
With 204 runs on the board reckon they are favourite also nice to see Roy back in form he's changed his approach don't over think it much more simple see ball hit ball
-
This is Surrey, misery loves us
-
Someone needs have a word with Rikki Clarke about possible match fixing for his old team 😂😂😂
-
With four balls left The one and half extra overs surrey bowled and the free hits helped them lose it Without these regardless of umpires decisions Surrey would have won.
-
Robbed by some dreadful third umpiring
-
Great victory by the bears
Wasn't really dodgy third umpire it was the standing umpires (I thought it was out) same as night before the soft signal sways the third umpire as he has to be 100% the on field are wrong and the soft signal last night was not out of it was out it would have been given
Still would have won as de grandhomme was smashing it (straight to fielders in air)
-

Yep it was definitely the on field umpires that were at fault. Once the soft signal is not out they gave the 3rd umpire no choice really with those replays.
But you also have to say the wides by Dernbach and Curran at the end and the dropped catch weren't great by Surrey.
-
Is anyone going to Finals Day today. I will be there with about 20 others on a stag do.
We are all going as Umpires and then putting the Stag in full kit . Until the final game when they are making him put on a kim Kardashian style dress!
-
Bumble and Freddie. Amazing
-
Is hales using a GM grip on his GN bat? Village!
-
Woakes winning this for Warwickshire / Birmingham on his Todd at the moment
-
Samit puts Woakes over the boundrary 17 off the over.
Excellent comeback by Notts to finish on 190.
-
Is Samit Patel the most perfect player ever?
He's a proper cricketers build, can hit a long ball and bowls spin. I think he's second only to Dwayne Leverock on my list of all time favourite players
-
Don't need franchise cricket with nights like this, Edgbaston is absolutely rocking
-

Would franchise cricket result in Freddie Flintoff performing an Elvis song to a group of Power Rangers live on Sky?
If not we need to keep the format exactly as it is! Finals day is one of the most awesome events of the year
