...soon to be illegitimate bats in professional cricket. (ie. over 40mm edge and 60mm spine excluding face curvature)
These are all bats which have just over 40mm edges, or higher than 60mm spines excluding the face curvatures. I'm sure I have more in the collection, just couldn't quite find the will to measure each edge and spine height. :D

And here are bats which are monstrous, and not even borderline:

What is the lightest of your monsters @Chad ?
-
Unless you planning to turn Proffesional in October Chad none of those Bats are illegitimate enjoy them for another 10 Years
-
It's a great thread and by no means not Fun a big bat will always get my vote even if I can't pick it up

But I guess because of this restriction there will be less supply of big bats in future.
-
My opinion only but I think it will be silly of the manufacturers too stop or even reduce the making of big bats 95% of there Market is from the Paying Public that don't have these restrictions imposed on them they have always sold well so why stop again just my thoughts
-

Why?
They're going to become illegal for use in the professional game.
There's nothing to say bat makers have to stop making them, or that clubbies can't carry on using them. I can't see the cricket police coming after anyone who makes a bat with 41mm edges and a 61mm spine.
All the while there's demand, there will be supply.

My understanding is GN initially said there would be no more big bats available after October, but as we see with the new Aus launches and the continuation of Halestorm and Pro Performance in the UK for 2018, they have gone back on this statement.
Matt has said to me many times he has no intention of ceasing the production of H4L Monster bats.

Is it possible willow merchants will use the 40mm law as an excuse to reduce cleft size?

I completely agree with you. Majority of their target market are club players who pay for their bats.

Interesting thought that one - would certainly mean more clefts being produced...
-
What I heard from Mueleman is that GN-AUS and SK will not produce any more big bats after the remaining clefts are used.
-
Great idea to start a big bats thread. I will post my collection later tonight.
-
Mightily impressive collection there Chad.

Nothing like time pressure to get a customer to drop hundreds of dollars on something ;)

Fair comment but these big bats aren't growing on trees either (or clefts felled. ;) ).

GN fell their own trees and cut willow to whatever size they like though, they can produce oversize clefts whenever they like.
-
Stu has plenty of oversized clefts left , over 100 in fact , with about 20 partially made , so no problem getting what you want in big bat land off gn aus.

I am one of the victims, went for GN Warner when I was told that the bats will be smaller this season.

Here is my small collection of "big" bats. All bats got over 45mm edge and few with 70+ mm spine.
The US quater is approx 24mm in diameter. All bats are under 3 lbs.

Lightest is the Malik, which is around 2lb 11oz. Might take off the rest of the stickers, but I'm also getting a lightweight H4L Monster coming in anytime this week/next. :)
@DorsetDan that's a cracking collection, who made the net bat? Looks a gorgeous shape! :)

Well, in my head I'm an absolute gun, so who knows? :D Looking forward to actually using these sometime next season/during Winter training!
@Shinpathy an unbelievable collection of GN bats! I thought I'd be struggling to pick out which of my monster bats to use first, but seems like you'll have even more of an issue! That DSC is something pretty special too!
@Calzehbhoy lovely collection there, what's the major difference you find between the Halestorms and the H4L oversized bats?

There you go, embedded the images for you. Lovely collection, the more I see the XP80, the more I regret not buying one when the opportunity arose! :-[
-
Yeah that Malik was a lot of bat ffor its weight @Chad ! Almost regret selling it!
The Halestorm is a completely different shape, I think the one on the left is a bit of a freak with the weight/size! It pings like a cannon as well! Everybody that has gone near it in nets wants to buy it off me instantly! The H4L is really nice, it feels a bit too heavy for me though so I think I need to get it sent back to H4L for a few ozs to be taken out of it, might not be so in your face after the weight is taken off though!
What shape are you getting for the new H4L monster?? Any of your current large H4L's in a Hattori shape?? Would love to know what a large low density lightweight Hattori is like, the one I got off you a few years back is a wand!
-
What are the specs of that monster B&S??? And what did you pay - if you don't mind me asking??
-
Thanks a lot @Chad for the help. I sold xp80 and bought one the next week :D

quick query, are the halestorms made in the UK? i cant remember if its actually stated anywhere
-
Fairly sure it's luck of the draw @rsh107 , one of mine I'm pretty sure is UK made, the other I think is Indian made.
