I have always used a mid sweet-spot. Then a couple of years ago, I decided to experiment with a high middle, to see if it had any impact on the power generated and to try a lighter pick-up.
Whilst the pick up is lighter, I don't feel I can hit the ball as far, so am looking to go back to a mid middle bat. The search is on....

High high middle. As far high as it can be.

Had my best last few season to date switching to high middles. And the ball goes a long why when it's hit.

Mid to high. I think many people would be surprised how high on the bat they actually hit the ball even on a low and slow wicket.

always used low then used the cric tech sheets and found I was hitting the ball way higher than I thought so now use mid middle and feel the difference in pick up and more balls middle.

Completely agree. Always used to go for low middles, as a front foot player, but turns out i hit a lot on the up, now its mid middles all the way for me

I'm abstaining from this vote due to the lack of an inside edge option.

Was using a high throughout preseason on bouncy headingly nets and tried to use it first few games of the season but changed back to middle. I personally think it's more to do with your style of batting more than anything else.

Mid to high .
Opening bat , play on decent bouncing wickets , hit on the up a bit , play off back foot a bit .
Only have to look at my bowling machine bat to know where i hit the ball .
Also , i have no plans on trying to hit yorkers for six  :D.

prefer a higher middle and validated by scuff sheet showing where on the bat I hit the ball most.

use a heavier bat (say 2lb 13oz) so still plenty of wood in the driving zone.

5ft 8 , open the batting, aim to hit poor short balls so again I feel this points towards selecting a higher middle.

I did score a 50 this season with a Kook Verve which has a lower middle, it was fairly new and most of the hits were higher, the bat itself was a beauty and had a noticeably long middle

this is why I like M&H who have produced higher middle shapes over the years, I have also used a Newbery Kudos this season which according to Newbery has a slightly higher middle

Totally agree and same as my preferred choice exception being used a GM Chrome
This season but found personally the performance is mid profile

I think, as per a very old Crictech sheet thread, many people actually need a slightly higher middle than they think they do.

Maybe it's something to do with a better balance from a slightly higher middle?

100% this - we (the UK) in general think far too much into the classic 'low and slow' claims. Just look at your bat and I bet a large majority of the ball marks will be higher than expected - unless you're getting right to the pitch of the ball the chances are you're playing off what would be classed as a high middle.

Being 6ft 3 I used to go with a low middle (overthinking my height), but having switched to a fairly high sweetspot a few years back I've never looked back.

Plus, it picks up miles better - what's not to like?!

Years ago , i thought the same , I'm 6ft3 too , thought i need a low middle . When i switched to mid-high middles i wondered why i hadnt made the switch earlier .
Also , good mid-high middles still go ok near the toe . I tend to think , of all middle positions , it's most difficult to achieve/find a long sweetspot on a low middle bat - a lot of mid middle bats go as good low as low middle bats but go better higher up too .

My bat seems to have one of the moveable middles....often in the nets and throw downs i find the middle all day long. Get out into a game and the bugger has moved somewhere and i can't find him for love nor money....

A good bat would have a long sweet spot with help from knocking and ball consistently hitting certain areas. So, my answer is none of the three but a bat with a long sweet spot. Of all the bats I own, my CA match bat pings beautifully - toe area is extremely response and high spots are very pingy for cutting and pulling.

I think most good bats go well from toe to stickers but almost every bat has a peak performance area at one position. The question here is where you prefer that peak performance area to be.

In my experience, that is not the case. You need some mass in the toe region for the bat to be responsive and not all bats are that responsive in that area. Bats that have long sweet spots tends to have a meaty toe and a high spine running thru the high part of the bat (or all to the way to the handle).

I think you are asking about "node of percussion" or "center of percussion" of a bat. The bats I use are pretty big and medium-heavy weight (2-11/2-12) and for me, the bat speed is far more important than how the ball feels when the contact is made. I feel that bats with high middle (concentrated bat mass/bulge) tend to have slower bat speed (although punchy on faster/bouncier tracks) then bats with mid/low-medium (concentrated bat mass/bulge). I like faster bat speed. :)

Lets play a game of guess where the middle is... yes, it is the only spot down the centre of the bat with no marks about a third up from the toe!

Take this photo to a batmaker and ask him to shape a bat with the appropriate middle .....
"Um you want me to put the middle everywhere except the middle , or just leave the bat without a middle ? .... both will work" .  :D  :)

@Biggie Smalls :  Is it possible that when the ball hits right at the sweet spot with perfect timing, it would leave no mark at all  :D

Hahaha. .... can i borrow this excuse , i mean , this reasoning ? Next time i have a crap season with the bat I'll just use this line and tell everyone I've been middling everything immaculately!   :D
