Meulemans are now very popular in the US, courtesy of Gray Nics Australia!

GN Atomic, Velocity and Meuleman's custom bats are amazing. Ping on these bats is quite extraordinary for what they call a G2 willow.

Ive seen a few players choice velocity's at 2lb9oz that look every bit as good as my xxx11 custom made..... the willow on some of the players choice bats made me wonder if they had been misgraded....they really looked like they could have been twice the price .
Also , the shape on them is very nice - very full and pick up better than i was expecting . I think you'll like it as much as the xxx11.

Well, all that sounds extremely self-congratulatory and good for you if that gives you your jollies. But so far, I haven't found one of the Australian posters to have helped with procurement of one single Kranzie bat. You guys are pretty selfish and useless!

Keep patting yourself on each others' behinds.

@simonmay5  hasn't had any trouble getting STU made bats , our conversations have led to his GN experience being very special indeed , my bats are very unique but not impossible to get a hold of , my teamates have used many of them & love every bat , even sold a few to those who have asked , I suggest @manno & @InternalTraining build a relationship with a manufacturer over many years & gain a level of respect from them , then you can post & share unique bats that have been offered to you , or just cough up some big dollars & order a special from GN , looking fwd to seeing you sharing this on the forum , many other guys on this forum have done this & reaped the rewards from batmakers , they then post to share the experience, some very rare examples have been seen ,was going to show the 2018 kronus & legend gold that i have as well  , but you 2 “gentlemen” know everything already    (https://s9.postimg.org/k62lr6wrj/20171226_145004.jpg)  only 1 2018 kaboom has been made with 56mm edge in super rare black willow with a 2lb 12oz weight , so it is atm "unobtainable" , from now on I'll leave it to you 2 to keep the forum up the speed on the Aus GN news.

Boooooooooooooo !!!!!

@Aussiecollector , most of us have assumed you are a g.n melbourne worker ( or some other close relationship with sk) . Your posts are sometimes  very cryptic , or dont expand much on availability , info ....just tease us about your great bats that we cant get . Thats not to say there's anything wrong with that at all , its just i understand if others are frustrated,  jealous or joking about the situation.
I personally love when you share your g.n stuff and you helped me have the faith needed to buy my xp80s and xxx custom.
I would love to be in your position .....or at least buy bats from you , but as a 2nd best I'll take just being able to see your posts .

On another note what is black willow?

Was wondering about the same, thought it might have been the black stain/streak on the edge of the bat, might be similar to some metal intake from the soil during growth. But then again, it doesn't look dissimilar to when I sanded the TON markings off the older ink branded SS bats, so would be interested to know, And what it generally means for the quality of the willow!

I was also wondering about 'black willow'.

To the uneducated in all types of willow like myself you'd almost say that's what you'd expect Canadian/European/Siberian willow to look like.

H4L have a nice pro Tempo mk1 for sale with black/darker stained willow and I really like the look of it.

Thought I would post this.  Its from Kingsgrove Sports.  I will pick it up when I am in Sydney next month.  I chose the one on the left for a club mate who wanted one - mainly because the grains looked more even and the heartwood a little more even.  Also picked out an Atomic which I will post pics of also if I finally get to work out how one does it.

Was told the edges of the two were the same but the one on the left (one I chose) looks smaller in my eyes... maybe its just the camera angle

Both are Atomic 1000 model.  I chose the one on the right..  Was told both were made down in Melbourne.. I have no reason to not believe what they told me.  Both are 2.8 and very full profile - again based on what they told me.  Hoping it picks up well.

None of these bats have ridiculous sized edges... but then again that's not the only (or main) thing that differentiates between GN bats made in Australia vs rest of the world.

Chose the right hand side one which seemed ok for a grade 2 .  Probably will get the toe squared off which will bring the weight under 2.8 but with a fibretec sheet probably bring it back up to close to 2.8

Yes so I've been told by the store in Sydney!  Probably the lowest grades of GN bats still made in Australia.  The Velocity is for a team mate but I am tempted to get one for myself.  They normally give a decent discount if you buy 2+ bats and knocking in is free

@Percy_Grainger If there is Blue colored Made in Australia label on the handle top & "A"stamped on the back somewhere then will be Aussie made. These 2 identifiers are not present on Indian or UK made GN bats.

Fantastic. The grade doesn't matter that much. My friend has an Aus made GN XXX 11 - Limited Edition (I am told that this is G2 or G3) - plays better than many other G1+ willows I have seen.

The best option is to ask the seller. Kingsgrove & Meulemans have always been able to tell me upfront what is the model and where its made.

Yes was told both bats have this so I am sure its all good.  I actually bought these before the Boxing Day sales so they were a little more expensive than the current sale prices at GCCC.  Kingsgrove don't have these models on sale anyway but more importantly I wanted to get them whilst there was a decent amount of stock to choose from.  I once ordered a bat online from GCCC (GN Powerspot) and what was delivered was so poor I returned it.  At least with these I know what I am getting.  Also Kingsgrove knock the bats in for free which is worth some money too.

I was told that the Atomic 1000 have been very popular this year so I hope the one I chose turns out to be ok.  TBH the best time to buy bats in Australia is around Jul-Aug when the new shipments come in from Melbourne.  It's kind of like the equivalent of buying in Jan-Feb in the UK
Title: Re: Aus made xxx11 monster
Post by: Percy_Grainger on December 26, 2017, 07:20:45 PM
One other thing to mention - the model I chose for my mate weighs between 2.8 and 2.9.  But I couldn't help but notice that on the GCCC website they are listed as being 2.12-2.13.  All the current stock at Kingsgrove are 2.9 max although they were all 2.12+ earlier on in the season apparently.  Maybe GN started making them lighter for the batches made after Oct to make sure they complied with the new MCC rules .. not sure
