If some of you are like me you'll spend hours looking through eBay for that diamond in the rough, or always looking for that piece of kit you used once and no longer own.
So... what is that one thing you'd love to own that you either once did or regret never having?
p.s - Talent is not an adequate answer
-
A Screaming Cat bat (I've never owned a JM bat with his own stickers)
An original Woodworm Torch
-
Easton air management batting pads , they were awesome . Also , i never owned a screaming cat , wish i had .
A lot of people will probably love to find classic , adjustable grille masuri lids .
I have 3 xp80s but wish they would still be made because I'd get more of them . In fact , any oversize cleft bat must be rare and cherished in these post-mcc-bat-regulations days......so you could add m&h distinction (?) , gn kabooms , older kippaz colossus , etc etc .
-
Grey Nicolls optimum megastrike bat - had one when i was ~11, from coach/county player. He used it batting against Wasim Akram, which was pretty cool.
Surprised it wasn't too heavy for me looking back.
-
GN 50+
-
A good quality Open Championship bat with the David Gower stickers on.
-
The original orange and silver Puma Ballistic 5000 kit, I never had any of the softs or the bat but loved the keeping stuff! That whole range is just iconic to me.

Robertsbridge made Dynadrive LE.

And more specifically, this one:

What a beautiful lady, the guy who ordered this is going to be chuffed! Can't believe she weighs 2'8.5
(http://i.imgur.com/J6tWQl.jpg)
The edge comparison is done with an A61 1000, which is a big bat in its own right, but its dwarfed by the Dynadrive.
I'm kind of gutted that i got a standard Dynadrive for myself now...
I was sorely tempted to tell the customer this bat had been lost in transit when it arrived....
Given the cost of a Robertsbridge bat these days I'm not sure i'll be getting one anytime soon, wish I had back then, just over £300 seems an absolute steal in the current climate.

Did @wilkie113 once own this?

He owned one, can't recall if it was this one exactly. We did quite a few over a 2 or 3 year period, probably 20+ in the end.

I did mate. Via @Chad I think I ended up selling it for somewhere near to the new price in the end!
-
Is that the one that had a couple of handles fitted - I had that one for a while.
-
How much would these be now?

Could have been mate it had a rehandle when i had it. Barely used it. Couldn't quite come to terms with the size of it compared to it's weight

RRP is now £750!!!!!!!!!!
-
How much would these be now?
Legend experience is £1200 now which is the visit and custom made bat - doesn't include cook anymore I don't believe.
I would guess with a LE being £550 now roughly about that price
-
A good quality Open Championship bat with the David Gower stickers on.
Gary Kirsten had them too, obviously liked a stylish lefty.
-
Original dynadrive or 80's powerspot.
Bought the re-issued dynadrive but it just wasnt the same.

- Old Masuri helmets with adjustable grills.
- Screaming Cat

- Screaming Cat
If only I'd known. I've practically just given away a nice old style Masuri with a titanium grille to a teammate.
I may be opening a can of worms here but wasn't there a rumour that the SCATs were Indian made and only the final pressing/shaping was done by JM?
Plus isn't there a forum member selling SCAT profile bats on ebay? If you want to use it you might be better off getting one of those.
-
^ Screaming Cat train left the station many years ago.
I can only dream about them now. Hoarding bats is a good strategy. I am glad I grabbed whatever I could when prices were reasonable.

This is an interesting thread.
The reality is that kit now is worlds better than kit even as little as 8 years ago.
I am not sure I would swap any item of my kit now from kit in the past.
Even my lid.
Although I have fond memories of my old cloth cricket cap, modern ones just aren't as good...

I'm like you Buzz, as much as we lust over old gear in reality how likely are we to actually use it when there is so much new and exciting stuff around.
-
the old MH full leather distinction batting gloves and the original MH Distinction bats.

I agree and its more than likely nostalgia playing a part.
When i think about old kit it takes me back to when i was a kid watching my dad play and miss those times as i didnt have a care in the world.......

..Arcass Gloves ,pure quality back in the day or the DF sausage with the green bottom hand overflap
Loved the first Reebok shoes with the green trim on the heel and also would love another Open Championship blade..bought mine from Alf Gover`s cricket school on wandsworth hill,a gun

I agree. Bats have come a long way and even MCC compliant bats are superb!
Regarding helmets, I do feel that the adjustable Masuri was a superior design than non-adjustable ones; and, lighter too.

A Talisman special TK lam!
-
Laver & Wood Reserve stick for me, but way beyond my budget...am still looking for a used one...

Assuming you are happy with different stickers, these are relatively easy to get hold of, if you get the cheque book out.

Indeed, no idea why but when it came to TK/Newbery Mike always seemed to be able to get that something extra special. Maybe he was just good at threatening them :D
-
Original Kook bubble would be a lovely find or a V500 as used by Alec Stewart both iconic bats to be and had both that were amazing but getting quality now is very hard
-
The Bubble was a fantastic bat but they seemed to break quixkrt than any bat I have known. You would rarely see one make it to June without needing at least one roll of bat tape to hold it together
-
Like most on here a Screaming Cat and also maybe a genuine ACE bat made by the late Alf Evans with the original livery.
Although I do get bats off James at JEDi. Still see a few people using ACE bats and they are still going on strong.
-
Symonds Tusker original with a ridge back.
-
Technically not cricket specific, but Oakley G26 lenses. Was lucky enough to buy a spare pare of the lenses 2 years ago for $50 when they were on clearance. The shop had 3 left but I just bought the one. Regretting not buying more now as the G26 aren't sold by the stores anymore and $50 was a ridiculously good price.
-
I would love GN to remake the Millennium my first "proper" bat and it was a belter
-
Sit tight. They will.
In another 982 years. :D
-
Canterbury bowling trousers. They came with a towel that clipped onto the inside of the waistband and a special panel around the thighs for polishing the ball. I don't think they make them any more.
Other than that I've probably got better kit than at any other time previously thanks to lurking around cbf and learning from all you lovely folk
-
The blue camo SS batting gloves. Loved them

I think it was the story that went with them that made the talisman bats special.
My special perfect storm turned out to be a Larsons, with that said it was a rocket
-
I had a Gray Nicolls Powerspot GIANT from 1992 ish. Absolute beast of a bat. Best bat i have ever had. Hit some big scores and huge 6's with it.
I also had the funky looking Stuart Surridge Pads that Graham Gooch wore, they had like round kneecap kind of detail on the front.
-
Oh I remember those pads
-
The blue camo SS batting gloves. Loved them
Think I still have some of those in the garage??

The new Prizm cricket lenses are better in my experience. G26 were lovely though.

If you do I would like to buy them!
