the short answer...yes it is, will it affect the bat, probably not
-
I think so also nice evenly space prominent mainly straight grains.
-
Thank you both. performance is really good, but i take that it's lifespan will be short ?
-
Not necessary a guy at my club who gives the ball a thump has had one for 4 seasons and the bats still going strong.
-
Can you post a closer pic ?
-
Sure. Here you go. These marks run along the edges and through to the back of the bat.

Hard to tell from that, storm damage that ive been shown tends to be like a grey-ish ligthing strike across the bat

Do you, by any chance, have a pic of a bat face with such marks? Couldn't find any clear pics on the forum or elsewhere.

I don’t, next time I visit the bat makers I will get some to show
-
This might not be... do these marks go on to the edge and back of bat too ?

Yes

To be fair, I can't see anyone giving you your money back for that.
Best off just using it and don't worry about it.
-
Def storm damage... not worth the risk... you may need to invest in several bats!
-
Pics of the edge and the back. The marks line up from face, along the edge and on the back.

Since you've now recorded a 'before' photo of the possible storm damage, then if it does happen to snap at that point, you will have a case.
Score some runs with it and don't worry about it any more!

Just out of interest, where did you get that bat from?

It does look like storm damage, very similar marks to my 2018 bat - see the thread I've been running in the Bat Making section. How light is your bat? In my opinion storm damage is unlikely to be a problem unless the willow has been really over dried. If you can get hold of a moisture meter see what the percentage is, and post up the result in here.

i will take a look at your thread. My bat is around 2 lb 11 ounces after oiling, and i will try to get hold of a moisture meter soon. Thanks for the input!
