What's stunning about it? 6 grains. Far from a clean blade. Shape looks pretty generic. Why would you not buy something from a more established brand at a cheaper price?

What is wrong with 6 grains ?

I do agree that it's not the best looking piece of willow in the world, but surely beauty is in the eye of the be-holder.

Also does it really matter if it goes like a gun ?

Nothing is wrong with 6 grains, but I'm glad you agree it hardly looks stunning. In my opinion there is a lot better value out there - if you like 6 grains and blemishes on the face of your bats then I can point you in the direction of plenty of brands who stock similar for around half the price.

If you're buying a bat on eBay, how would you know it was a gun?

Bought a Spyder off here once, was a decent bat. Wouldn't pay that money for one second hand though, especially as I don't think they're all that dear in the first place.

If it was a Kaizen Pro,i think shop price would be alot more than £175,but hence that`s the risk of purchasing on ebay !.....maybe worth the Virgin Train fare up there to hand inspect before purchase

What would you recommend for £175 out of interest,Tom ?..............don`t see much around that price point nowadays

Also agree with Tom, just look at the GM signature.

re GM,will do as seem to have alot of fans on here but as i stated in a previous post, have played south of Milton Keynes for 35 odd years now,and can count the number of their bats seen on one hand,so maybe stigmatised !

always keep an open mind,tho

GM are flavour of the month on here that's for sure and difficult to argue on the Signiture for value for money. I've had one from someone on here last year and it was ok but i sold it as fancied trying something different. Outside of GM and going against the current 'forum trend', I'd spend all of the budget of £175 and get a performance grade from Blank Bats, well made and great performance. Outside of that I'd suggest looking at a butterfly from Aldred or Vulcan cricket maybe?

If ur not far from Milton Keynes? Then I would suggest going to see John at Red Ink, lots of good vibes on here about service and quality.

Where abouts are you? I’m sure we could arrange a visit if you wanted to talk bats and see what I can do for you

It has to be said there seem to be quite a few GMs currently in the 'For Sale' section. Beware of the 'forum trend'?

I suggest taking up John's offer. You can't beat a bit of personal service.  I'm sure he wouldn't let you down.

For 150.00 you could pick up one of the stunning SS Ton Vertu's we currently have in stock. Alternately for 105.00 we have the GM 606's which actually sell better than the Signature model.

We have some photos of the Vertu's on our Instagram page. Its been a while since we last added a photo to the forum, so I can't quite recall how its done...sorry!

..for the purpose of clarity,i should expand;have played League cricket in Kent, the Cherwell League and now Sussex over the last 30 odd years and have used Gray Nicolls, for  the last 10 years or so Solitaire,as i got to know Roger well,a Choice and a Sypder for £80 off ebay,so would much rather support the smaller manufacturer!
My point being is i suspect whilst making things of real performance at the upper echelons of the price scale, the low-mid ranges simply don`t appeal to most league cricketers at the prices retail has them, certainly on the evidence of where i played...no slight intended on GM,but i simply never saw them!
I have perused Red Ink`s site a few times and the kit looks great, more power to the man !

Red Ink are quality.  I like GM too of the big manufacturers, and you see a lot of them up North, but not so many GN's - makes sense you would see plenty of them in Sussex.  Plenty of local manufacturers and stores down there for you.  Plan an off-season weekend road trip and take in a few.  H4L maybe?

Personally, I would take the £175 and the train fare put it together and visit Tim Keeley (since he is offering visits now). Think you'll get a lot more value and you get to meet the best batmaker in the world. Alternatively, under £170 Chase might be worth a look. I think Six Sixes stocks some of their rang.e

Spyder is currently the most popular bat brand at my club as Gary's premises is just over the county border from us. I would say having had a hit with a lot of them over the last couple of years, that they represent excellent value for money.  Gary gets a lot of the lads pro-ing in the area using his kit (there is a picture of Dhoni using one of his bats with Reebok stickers on the front but the Spyder branding on the edges from a few years ago doing the rounds).

The bats are imports from India if that matters to you, but for the money, they are high quality.

I would echo the point that has already been made though that this isn't far off the price for a new bat direct for Spyder.

Good call from Tom, Chase for that price are phenomenal bats. Teammate of mine has an R4 that's as good a bat as I've ever seen, and Rob at Sixsixes always has gooduns in stock.

Chase make a quality bat, and you can visit and spend a few hours there if you fancy the bespoke option

Good shout that, or a Neon with forum discount.

How much can you get a custom Hunts for these days?
The Vitas offer used to be a real bargain, not sure what you'd pay going direct.

@Neon Cricket would be my recommendation
