Title: Total of matches
Post by: AJ2014 on March 03, 2019, 08:51:15 PM
Would like to know how many matches you're planning / wanting to play coming season, I will be more than happy if I will get 14 leagues games this year

Between 10/12 sat league games as I play alternative weekends as I have a cricket one and a family one and min of 4 T20 matches with a finals day if we win our league as we did last season.

Started mid April and finished early October. But did go on a tour abroad pre season with the club, one in the uk towards the back end of the league season and played a fair few wednesdays too. Lot of cricket going on at our club.

I feel there will be a large amount of disappointment once you play that 150th game!

Game every sat and sun from first week in April to the last weekend in sept, plus tour games and cup games. Hopefully every single one when the weather or oppos dropping out allows.

No 2020’s tho (it is only a max of 7 games anywya if you make the final so nit missing much)

Other option for me would be to play on Sundays for another club which offers regular Sunday games, for whom I've played previously

If I play twenty, that means we will have had a good cup run

No Sunday cricket anymore and no nets
Body’s knackered, had over 40yrs of playing now and my back can’t take it

I am playing 40/40 for one team, t20 for another and t30 for the third team. Hopefully I will get to play once every week. My body can’t handle 2 games per week.

My 2nd son was born 4 days ago so this season going to be very different. Only playing half the season, so that will be just 9 league games.

Optimistically, I might get 10 weekend games + 20 midweek games. I spend one night a week coaching 3 junior sessions in a row. It was easier when I was in my 20s and didn't have family and work commitments.

18 this season weather permitting (Saturday's only). A team has recently pulled out of our division so the number of matches are down from the normal 20/22.

Any batsmen who've had seasons playing <15 and >35 games, do you feel like your game improves the more you play, or not necessarily?

Yeah, if I played in every game played by my 2 clubs, that would be about 60 games.

As it is I will probably play about 25 games.

As the season progresses, you do get better because of a number of reasons. It also depends on your body and the recovery period for your body. Some people don't recover quickly enough from the stains of games as other do. Also, there is the factor of mental fatigue - people want to do other things besides cricket (atleast I do :D). There is a fine balance that needs to be struck for every individual based on their physiology, mental makeup, and other life circumstances.
