Just interested to know what everyones first senior bat was. Mine was a kookaburra long handle.
-
Slazenger SXI classic
loved that bat, profile was outstanding and absolutely flew for 50 quid until it broke at the splice, took it back to owzat and got a pure blade classic complete with white painted back, never liked that one as much even though i hit my one and only 50 with it and still have it to this day,
then was an incurza, and then i joined the forum....

I started off with a harrow Woodworm Torch Pioneer (12 year old me wanted "a bat like KP" )
My first Short Handle bat was a Woodworm Satellite bronze. I've always been a bit of a brand whore... :-[

The good old days when you could pick up a decent bat for less than £100. Mine cost £60.

Never used a woodworm. I was tempted back in 2005.

Duncan Fearnley VR5*, brilliant bat. If it was good enough for the mighty Viv then it was good enough for me. Lasted for years, unlike bats of today.
-
SS Turbo Supreme. Trying to emulate Gooch. Great bat and seemed at the tender age of 16 to be all middle.
-
Warsop Superior (got nicked) and then a Slazenger SX Ultimate (loved it....also got nicked!).
-
GM Purist
-
Puma Evolution.
Think I bought it after Craig Kieswetter clapped the Aussies in the 2010 T20 World Cup Final
-
Newbery Uzi C6+
-
Duncan Fearnley Extra Cover. It was as thick at the shoulders and toe as it was in the middle.
-
County Caerulex.
An absolute gun of a bat.
My first scoring shot with it was a leg glance for 6. I remember scoring 46 not out from a chase of 54, after walking out to bat at number four with the score board reading 0-2 after 2 balls...
Not a game I will forget easily!

A cheap CA Zoom back when i was in uni. Was pretty decent

Does anyone still use duncan fearnley?
-
Mb malik Zulfi.

My first senior bat was a GN scoop 2000 as used by Lara was bought for my 13th birthday I think from Lilly Whites, didn’t last long and my dad then took me to Salix and I had a Vantage made for me by Kember, started my love for the brand

Not that I am aware of in the FC game. They are constantly requesting sponsorship applications from promising junior players though which suggests it is fairly quite down there
-
GM purist then a Slazenger V800 then a GN ultimate
-
Symonds Tusker. Scored my only century with it.
Mate used it for firewood when we were skint in the final year of uni...
-
Baronet by Bernie Facer
He made it in front of me in his shed in Buckden
-
GN powerspot after saving up for what seemed ages still have it (well half of it as it was cut in half to make a fielding / catching bat)
-
GN Powerspot 5 star circa 1987
-
Hunts county Insignia. absolute gun.
-
Newbery Excalibur - still got it...
-
Newbery Series 1. Beautiful bat, went like a rocket, stolen by my brother, never saw it again.
-
GN Powerspot that I pretty much pinched off my dad as he had pretty much finished playing by then.
Still got it in the garage but its in a poor state - I started a project to refurb it back to past glories but never got around to it - must pick that one back up and get it finished.
-
Symonds Tusker shared with my older brother. The next one was SG Sunny Tonny.
When fresh of the boat in 1984 my team mate let me use his DF and I still remember the feel of that bat. Wish there was a way to get similar shape bat from DF and keep the cost down

I remember Paul Aldred talking about the DF Magnum profile, as one of the reasons behind his starting his operation. For sure he could recreate it for you, and if you chose butterfly willow it would be very reasonably priced. It wouldn't be a Magnum from DF, but you'd be close.
-
My dad got me a Bradbury about 10 years ago as my first adult bat that is still my go to bat today

DF do still make the magnum although the shape has been updated

I had actually thought about the Aldred bat two or so years ago in butterfly willow but I had concerns with weight.
I would say that I have maybe another 3 or 4 years left before I retire from playing and batting at position 8 or lower does not make any sense to pickup a new bat, considering that recently picked up a BB made by Keeley that was a year old.
