It turns out my office is closer to Chase than I realised, as it is quiet and there are some deals in the offing, I thought I would do a bit of Christmas shopping...

First thing, for those looking to buy the £65 bats, they are cheap. Some are good. Some are awful. But please don't waste Dan's time talking about grains and mid position. It is pot luck!
But they have about 50-60 of the bats left, so you can still get a good one.

That last butterfly is 2-7 and a wand. The one above it... hummm

I spoke to them on the phone today.

They were very busy but very friendly and approachable.

Invited me to pop down and visit the workshop etc. I'll plan a visit sometime in the New Year.

Seemed like very nice people.

Now I am not saying I bought myself a Christmas present. But I may have found a 2-10 gun for myself...

@Buzz looks very similar to mine mate and I must say that after about an hour or so knocking in so far it’s turning into a lovely bat.
Looks a decent place to visit and from a conversation with Dan last month he is certainly a great guy to chat all things cricket with

I definitely think I've got one of the better ones. No blemishes on the face. Grains nice, straight and relatively evenly spaced (even in the toe). Just some defects on the rear. All of that didn't really matter. In the comment box I just asked for weight and middle position (no mention of looks, just hoping for one with semi-decent ping).

So I'm going to have to disagree with you Buzz. While ordering, why have a comment box if it is going to be ignored with no mention beforehand that it's potluck? It would save both our time and me money.

Nice butterfly you've picked up though.

I think there is a happy medium, absolutely stat weight etc, it is just that they have had some pretty specific 7 grains mid middle, oval handle etc, which can be a big ask for a £65 bat...

One of the best looking butterfly bats. Good luck.

The spine on that looks way offset to the right.
I'm guessing it's a perspective thing though.
Either that, or you like a challenge, Buzz.  :D

I have had a chance to start knocking this bat in now and set the grip up as I like it.

Reasonable to say this bat is a complete gun and will be in the bag for the summer.

Looks good. That Keeley has taken a few good blows to the shoulders. Do you open on a lively track? I'm beginning to regret selling on my Chase, but there's only so many bats you can really use...

What might a big trip to Chase look like?

A hoard of CBF members descending on the place at once and clearing Dan's workshop of all the willow...

Thanks. Seems you're working up to it.

Small visit because I was there for less than 30 mins.

I am not convinced that an en mass cbf visit is entirely something many bat makers would want...!

Thanks. Seems you're working up to it.

Having been to Chase several times I wouldn't dream of going as part of a CBF trip. Dan doesn't deserve that... ;)

Seems to go that way on here, each year a brand seems to be forum favourite and then we hear nothing after a while. H4L seems to be best and most recent example. Can’t remember the last time someone did a review, made a visit etc but a year or so back it was all about H4L.

Having a couple of the chase R1 bats i must say if your not bothered about a bat being be biggest, best looking etc you will get a lovely bat for the money. Performance wise they seem very good from peoples comments so far.

Nail on the head.

The deal was a favourite, not necessarily the bat/brand.  Some people look to have scored some nice bats for sure, but as you'd expect not all are that level. I received one that's ok and just about the worth for which I paid.

Next to no interest in my Chase 2020 thread and yet the forum jumps on £65 bats and can still find something to complain about half the time... who would have guessed  :( :D

For some reason just not a popular brand on here in the main, Personally in think they have some of the best designed stickers in the business but the shapes on the promo material are a bit like Kook in that they all look pretty much the same.

As for people moaning thats just they way on here a lot of the time, causes good conversations in the main though but unless its 40mm edge, 2.8 with 25+ grains made from the Lords own G1+++++++++ PRIVATE Willow shipment most don’t comment or review. Just the way it is now mate

@Buzz managed to pick up that 2.7 butterfly cleft you shared a picture of from you last visit. That’s me now fully stocked bat wise now from Chase

Looks aside 65 is a bargain. Occasional amazon deals from ebay thread on GM bats are my other favourites.

I've taken a slightly different approach to Chase's bargain offerings... can't wait to get going on these.

Won't stick the price on the forum as they don't publicly advertise it so not sure it's my place to, but it was a good but not astonishing price.

A little update on this.
I took/used the bat at the Dummer net at the weekend.
Most people there looked on it with a little horror.. 😂😂😮😮

But there was a load of very flash willow on display.
@LEACHY48 didn't like the shape at all... and it wasn't as nice as Brucie's jumbo shaped beast or the Hosk's Kohli wand, but I like it, so raspberries to the lot of you

From a use perspective, it does have quite a low middle which isn't ideal at Dummer!

The ones I did middle felt great and the bat makes a lovely sound. I hit a slog sweep and a cut which really flew.

Higher up the bat there is a fair bit of vibration above the stain, I am not sure if this is because of the bounciness of the net, the grip (I am using a different type of grip for the first time in years) or, likely, just how the bat is.

When using the bat with the bowling machine, my son was feeding so it was just a case of trying to hit the ball as the little whotsit mixed some fast inswinging yorkers and bouncers and the rest of an assortment of not helpful feeding! #stumpseverywhere

One thing I have decided, I don't really like batting at Dummer...
