As the title says, show me your pants, or rather tell me what you use for cup support. At the moment I use the slazenger sports direct specials but I don't find the fit very good. Is it a case of the tried and trust jock strap or is there a hidden gem for the most comfortable cricket under crackers ever and I'm missing out?
-
I use Shock Doctor compression shorts. So comfy you only have to adjust your box out of habit rather than necessity. A little overdone but definitely miles better than others I've tried including Aeros which are second on the list.

But they are a little expensive so I might go for something like this next time.

Nike pro compression shorts box inside then white football shorts with thighpads over the top
Like the feeling of box on flesh knowing it's there (I have forgotten it before)
Tried alsorts of bespoke box shorts/jock strap but fine the valve is most comfortable and supportive
-
Tried different ones but these are my favorites: https://www.aerocricket.com/equipment/clothing/aero-shorts.html (https://www.aerocricket.com/equipment/clothing/aero-shorts.html)
-
I wear budgy smugglers!
-
Cheers all, I've some nike compression shorts already so I'll give them a go and check out the others!
You have to protect the davina McCall's after all!!
-
I have the aero box shorts but find they make my thigh pad slide around so I tend to bat in the aero briefs.
I also really like a pair of American Football shorts I bought in the US - they have a ‘cup’ which is very similar to a cricket box but more comfy for me. They’re like this: https://www.target.com/p/franklin-sports-youth-compression-short-with-cup-s-m/-/A-15100492 (https://www.target.com/p/franklin-sports-youth-compression-short-with-cup-s-m/-/A-15100492) very similar to shock doctor
-
Does anybody just put it in a sock and then leave the flap bit over the top?
-
I don't think you're protecting the right bits if you put it in your socks 😂

Strange you’d think but I know a fair few people who use a sock to hold their box, then just put it in their boxers or briefs
-
The box in a sock is a classic club cricketers go to, but surprisingly used by quite a few on the county circuit! Personally I’ve always just gone with the old school jockstrap but in a pinch the sock is trustworthy
-
I have a pair of Slazenger shorts from SD and about 6 of JAWZ gears compression shorts. I find them to be very breathable and comfortable for the cruel UAE weather
-
I've just ordered a pair of these to see how they are, £5 delivered, I'm not expecting much.

My aging jockstrap and GN box combo needed updating/replacing. So I recently purchased the Shockdoctor shorts with included Bioflex cup, I also purchased an Aero Groin Protector to see what works out best for me.
I like the Shorts as the cup pocket is quite ergonomic, allowing these large cups to fit well and not impede too much on the shorts functionality (see below picture fitted with the Aero Groin Protector).
The Bioflex cup offers good protection if you caught a blow front on, yet if the ball comes in at more of an angle, the protection offered is less so. The volume of space in the large Bioflex cup size is ok but the senior sized Aero Groin Protector is bigger and felt better for me when testing out protection with the mallet. However I did prefer the fitting between the thighs of the Bioflex cup, it was narrower and flexible. So if you were doing a lot of running, I imagine the Bioflex cup would work out better and it also has breathing slots to help you from getting 'betty swallocks'.
For now though, I'm going to run with the Shockdoctor shorts and Aero Groin Protector combination.

"when testing out protection with the mallet"
😂🤣😂🤣
You should try the shock Dr aircore hardcup

@SurreySam strange question, but do the shorts seem like they'll be hard wearing?
I've been using the Aero shorts for the past few seasons and they fit well but don't last very long.
I train twice a week and play one or two games (depending on fitness!) so I have a couple of pairs that I rotate, but only get a season out of them.
I know they're not expensive in the grand scheme of things, but at £15 a pair I'm basically chucking £30 a season away. If the shock doctors last better I may invest in a pair or two.
Alternatively, I could accept the fact I get a decent amount of use out of them and just suck it up, but that's not half as fun as purchasing new gear, is it! :D

Yeah the crown jewels were well shocked with the Bioflex fitted :(

I've not seen the Aero shorts in person, to really give a solid opinion.
From pictures the Shock Doctor waistband and seams look better made, whether that combined with the material translates to a longer lasting product is hard to say though. They're also more expensive at £20 + delivery from Shock Doctor UK.
Sorry, not much help I know.

@WalkingWicket37 you only get a season out of the Aero shorts? What are you doing to them?! I can't even remember how long I've had mine and they're still fine, I net/play a lot too.
-
Leopardskin thong, Peter Stringfellow style, or a Borat mankini.

Put them on for the warm up, run around in the field, bowl my allocation and bat for between 1 and 8 balls (on average).
Maybe I'm too fat for lycra and thats causing my issue haha :-[
-
The shockdoctor option seems pretty cool although they seem to be unavailable even on their own website? Are they still producing them for the UK market?
-
You can’t look past the trusty jock strap ! Tried a few different pairs of the shorts/briefs over the years but nothing is as as comfy as the almighty jock!

Must be the fielding, I don't field in them 🤷

You're probably not meant to, I'm just too lazy to keep changing... 😂

Surely there’s only one man we can turn to when it comes to advice on industrial grade apple catchers?
@FattusCattus gusset has taken some tap over the years I imagine, so I reckon he’s found the perfect pair of pants to keep his plums in check.
-
Well thank you @KettonJake
I can report that the Aero pants have been superb at resisting the ravages of my massive ball-sack and sweatage. I cannot recommend them enough, best I've used with excellent compression and no box 'wandering'.
In fact, I'm wondering if I could be the poster boy for their bollock-hammocks?
-
Not sure if a waxed mankini line, is kool for cats.
-
Classic Fattus
-
I'm guessing Fattus works in front line marketing and social media for a sensitive organisation😂

This thread will tell you all you need to know about 'plums' -
