Just wondering if anyone has recommendations for rolls of scuff sheet? Looking for the clear stuff. I've obviously googled and found plenty, but always feel it's good to try and give business to people who fellow forum members use and support their business.
Also wondered what the toe guards are which are used by Laver & Wood and Rs Robinsons? Not a big toe guard fan but want to experiment with a few styles.

Hi mate drop me a line as I’ve got to re-order a roll too so can tag one on for you if ur after 50m worth 👍
-
How much would one of these cost, Tom?
-
I’ve dropped u a WhatsApp 👍
-
Could you drop me a message with pricing please Tom, as I'm potentially interested in a roll.
Many thanks
Sam

@Ayrtek Cricket - Could you drop me a message with pricing. Is 50 meters minimum or can we go lower than that?
-
50m is a roll length which would be the idea scenario to save messing around with measuring and chopping off lengths.

On this note, I purchased a roll of fibre scuff on eBay.

Extremely disappointed when on first use discovered it doesn’t even stick to the edges without them piping straight back up again.
-
@jimmy23 I've been using a roll of this for a few years now and I rate it as some of the best fibre facing you can get!
Before you apply it it's best to give the face and edges of the bat a quick rub with some fine sandpaper to remove any residual glue, wax, oil or polish.
A hairdryer may also help it stick but I've never found that to be necessary
-
The premise of this thread is about clear scuff sheet not fibre.
-
@Ayrtek Cricket do you have roll of scuff with back sheet? I prefer cutting them first and then applying them.

one of the reason could be that you have oiled your bat and it's not dry enough for the tape to stick on it. you could sand edges and the apply tape, that should work.

Yes that’s what this would be, 50m in length and 13cm wide so you can cut you own length off the roll as it comes with a backing to it.
-
@Ayrtek Cricket coukd you drop me a pm with a price for a roll too. Much appreciated.

Cheers @Six Sixes Cricket but all sorted for scuff now and was looking to see if anyone knew what the toe guards were which are used on Lavers specifically, but thanks again for the offer.

Was your roll from this same supplier?
Sanded it before I applied as I always do.
Tried it twice to no avail but as soon as I put a clear helicopter scuff on it stuck no problem.
-
@jimmy23 yeah I got mine from Directa too.
I bought one of those rolls of fibreglass scuff sheet, two 50m rolls of bat tape and a few rolls of grip tape that was 8 or 9mm wide, thought all of the stuff I got from them was decent quality
-
Anyone bought their clear anti scuffs, 30 for 25m seems a bit too good to be true.
-
I've got one but I didn't find it that great, it was quite thick and ripped easily compared to the helicopter scuff sheets.
-
@Kulli I had a roll of their clear and it's effectively a very wide roll of tape. It wasn't the best quality as any impact to the edge (I tested this extensively) tended to lead to rips in the scuff sheet.
-
Cheers, would rather splash out for a proper
Roll

Jake from Vitas always had proper quality stuff

New batch turned up today, I opted for a matte finish as once of you can hardly notice it’s even been applied. “Gloss” on the bat on the left v new “matte” version on the right.

Received mine the other day Tom, thanks.
Not sure if its gloss or matte, but I'm happy either way. Just got to get on with servicing some bats now.
-
Matte mate, practically invisible once fitted which I quite like personally 👍
-
Excellent. If I had to choose then I'd have gone for that, as seen in your picture above.

I do have a bit left. Can get more when I get my self sorted hopefully in the coming months
Suspect it’s similar to what Tom has
-
Yep, I like the Matt one I picked up too. Looks great.

Who knows who the main supplier of scuff rolls is in the UK? A guy called eddie? I will post a free grip to anyone who can point me in the right direction with contact details.
