Hi all,
I have been using a pair of Spiked Reebok Trainers for 5 years or so and they are about to bite the dust, so I am interested to know what everyone is wearing and why.
Because Spikes have changed hugely since I last bought the trainers so don't think I need to get those done again to get the comfort levels etc...
Feel free to put the exact model you will be wearing in a comment if you like.
Thanks

I will be wearing my Adidas spikes this year, I may get a pair of asics spiked but that is 50/50 at the moment.
-
New adidas Boosts and my Advance 6's that are still going strong.
-
Old Adidas Howzat with full spikes for me.
I used to use ASICS but my last pair finally died after 5 or 6 seasons use.
I tried New Balance but they seemed to flare up my Achilles tendonitis quite badly, so the Adidas are the least painful option!
-
also on the hunt for new spikes, anyone used these asics strike rate ff? seen quite a few pros in the india new zealand test wearing these, between these and the gel odi’s for me

Old pair of Adidas SL22's still going strong. Should get at least another season from them

I’ve got a couple of pairs of the Puma 19.1. I had originally planned on using the NB CK10 I bought before crimbo, but they come up a bit too small.
They’re currently up for sale on a well known auction site if anyone fancies a decent deal on a brand new pair.... ;)

Spiked trainers all the way for me now. Got a pair of NB tennis shoes done and they're absolutely spot on - lighter than a cricket boot but more solid and supportive than a trainer.

How is the sizing on those, I should have gone Half a size bigger on my latest nb spikes and having looked at there tennis range that could be a great shout 👌

Asics all day

been using these for a few seasons now and by far the best spikes ive ever used

UK sizing on my pair is bob on, unlike the comedy sizing on their cricket spikes. Normally vary between 11 and 12 UK size and 11.5 is a good fit.

Been using ASICS gel advance 6 for the past 2 seasons, tried others but ASICS by far the best IMO

Thanks to everyone that voted, certainly some food for thought.
I actually think the most interesting thing is that 0 people said they were wearing GM/GN/Kookaburra spikes. Is that because we are kit badgers and are prepared to pay more? Or are they just not any good?

A few seasons ago I had a pair of kookaburra’s from sports direct. They were very comfy and lasted nearly 3 seasons. Excellent value for money.
I use Asics now, they’re better looking but no more comfortable or light in my view.

The Asics Gel ODI are the best spokes I’ve ever worn. Sadly they are ridiculously difficult to get hold of and even harder to find replacement spikes for

No Nike in the poll?

I think that would qualify as "other"

been to and fro-ing with the idea of getting a pair of these half spiked

got the Prodirect CK10 at the mo and the are OK but not worth the big pricetag

£63 plus £5 postage plus £3 postage plus £35 adds up to £106.
You can get a lot of cricket shoe for that money.
I have found a great pair of asic trainers I was going to buy and get spiked, but the time I added all the cost up I could buy a top of the range shoe from any of the leading providers.. I decided not to bother.
Which should get me banned I guess
😁😂

ive got wide feet and recently ive found that adidas and new balance in particular are very narrow. im thinking with those because they are trainers there might be a bit more give
-
I'd also suggest trying to do some batting in them first and trying to run a quick two or three. I've found with the knit shoes that when turning the foot slips over the sole and the knit simply stretches with the foot. Almost going over on an ankle at times. Most running shoes are designed for running in straight lines for as long as possible, not quick changes of direction. I think this is why lots of people have moved towards getting tennis shoes spiked.

In my experience, GN are pretty comfy for people with wide feet.
-
Puma also good for wide feet

Anyone notice that the ASICS Gel Advance 6 is a much looser fit than the Gel Advance 4?
Has anyone tried their Gel Odi ?

Yep, the pair of 6 I bought ended up on ebay as a result.

I have found the total opposite.

Gel ODI best spiked shoe I’ve ever had

Suppose it depends how wide. My feet are pretty wide size 12 pc plods and I find them if anything too wide. I have Evospeed one8 Rfade - yes, the embarrassing orange ones...
-
I've wide'ish feet also and wear Puma spikes, found them very comfortable.

@edge do you think it was half a size bigger, or a full size too big?

Asics spikes, best shoes

yes, bought a pair last season to replace my gel advance 4, both size 9 but the 6’s were way too loose, heel was slipping alot
iv bought the asics gel odi’s for this season, really good fit and seem very comfortable

Over a period of time, have used Gel advance 6, Gel Gully 5, gel strike rate 4 plus few offerings from adidas and puma. Found all the Asics shoes great with the the Gel Advance 6 being really special..
