What’s people’s opinion on the best bags for 2020, I took a punt and got a legend duffle in the jan sales which I thought was the best bag after I had done a bit of research.....
I used it for 2/3 net sessions and the main handle is already coming off so PDC have offered a refund. So I’m now thinking what’s the best bag again
Ideally I wanted a duffle but in my experience no duffle stands up well when loaded and defeats the point. I think I would choose the gn test wheelie bag over the legend duffle now as dimensions seem similar but looks like it holds way more kit and more importantly for me stands up well due to the solid base......
What’s people’s thoughts/ recommendations please
Anyone got a gn test wheelie bag ? If so thoughts please
Thanks

Morning - all rounder are doing a version of the GN Legend duffle from a few seasons ago in their own colours. I got one in Jan - just as good quality as the GN one and lots of pockets/space. Half the price that the GN was too.

How about a duffle bag on wheels that does stand up!

My lad has the Ayrtek duffle, which is Huge with loads of pockets. fits a full batting and wicket keeping kit in comfortably.
I have the Qdos duffle from Devon county sports and for £30 it's excellent value for money.
However, Bear Cricket have a duffle out at the moment and it's the Bee's Knee's I liked that a lot when I saw it up close, as Well as Neon crickets Duffle too.
-
I spent a long time looking at bags, going round and round from duffle, wheelie duffle, large bag even hard case coffin. Ended up going with SF summit LE duffle. Absolutely massive for a duffle and stands up well. Good price too.
-
I went with a. QDOS bag from eBay for £30 which I think is the in house brand. From Somerset county sports. Duffle with 3 bat pockets that are padded, pad sections on the side, shoe section, large main section, valuables section and 2 other decent sized pockets and stands up fine when loaded.
Overall very happy with it.
The other bags i have is a large Aero coffin on wheels that must be 5 seasons old and its still in great condition so those two and a Surridge wheelie the Test version. Its massive and holds all batting, keeping kit, lid, whites and 4 bats and still has room. Loads of external pockets as well for wash bag, sun glasses, grips so would recommend all 3 depending of you want a wheelie or duffle.

i have whittled it down to these 3..... i think

have this bag love it, handle falling off already after using twice..... so going back for refund although PDC have started to say its out of its 14 day return period lol
or this one which is leading so far

similar size to legend, slightly smaller
however will fit more kit due to better lay out and actually stands up

Terrible design these bags Michael, it may stand up, but not when open. Will be much bigger than the legend duffle as well

New Chase bags look nice. Downside is they don't say GN on the side :) Very similar to the Indian and Aus GN bags and 20% off at the moment
you are just a massive chase fan boy, but i will have a look thanks
-

to be fair to @DorsetDan I saw the new chase bags at the serious cricket event and they did look rather nice
I've also had a play with the Neon one that @WalkingWicket37 mentioned too. also a seriously nice bag
-
Keeley worx bag is very nice and compact
-
Do H4L not still do a stand up wheelie bag? Seem to remember them getting good reviews
-
I have the GN test holdall and would highly recommend it. Huge bag and well organised. May be a bit large for the needs of some people , but I always carry a lot of kit to games and have found it to be exactly what I need
-
I had a GN Test bag for 1.5 seasons. Great for separate storage, as I was keeping as well. The red lining between the top and mid sections is very thin and was tearing after less than a season.
Maybe i was storing too much in the top section, but it ripped to the point it became one big syorage compartment. I also found it fell forwards when on its end and you had to put it flat anyway to get anything out.
Great bag in theory. I'm now looking at a wheelie duffle with side pockets for the pads. Definitely considerimg the Neon, the big B3 duffle and the H4L ones...
-
Didn’t you try the B3 stand up duffle? @Canners
-
Didn’t you try the B3 stand up duffle? @Canners
yep- didn't stand up and the main compartment wasn't that accessible
someone needs to bring the mother of all bags out, definitely a gap in the market here.....................
The legend bag would be the one if it stood up..........

i also think with this bag it will save me talking a separate bag for whites accessories etc like i do even with a big duffel

Yes, I used to carry a separate holdall with clothes, towel, shower bag food and drink in it. Now I can chuck it all in one bag. Having sections that you can put wet towels kit etc in is a big plus for me as well.
There is a balance between a bag with one big section where all your kit gets thrown together and you can never find what you need and ones with so many little pockets that they serve no function and don't get used. I find this bag gets the balance pretty much bang on.

I have the GN Predator 3 1500 wheelie which is basically the same as the Test (in fact I think it's identical bar the colour).
Overall I love it - not having a separate pocket for whites/clothing is a bugbear of mine and it also has bat cave, helmet pocket and shoe pocket which are the other things I look for.
The only downsides are 1. it's a bit tall for my car boot so there is a bit of wedging that has to go on, and 2. it's so big that there is a temptation to load everything in and have 2 sets of pads, 3 bats, 5 pairs of gloves, full whites and training gear etc, which make it very heavy for use at training! I'm considering a medium duffle to use for training and then keep the wheelie so I'm organised for match days (yes I have enough kit to stock two bags...).
Edit: Another advantage of the predator 1500 is you can pick it up for £59.99 here - https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Gray-Nicolls-Predator-3-1500-Wheelie-Cricket-Bag-RRP-120/283795424574?hash=item421386853e:g:DIkAAOSwWZVeVT-1 (https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Gray-Nicolls-Predator-3-1500-Wheelie-Cricket-Bag-RRP-120/283795424574?hash=item421386853e:g:DIkAAOSwWZVeVT-1)

Let me know when you find said bag. I’ll stick to my original NB duffle for now... not that’s it’s gonna get much use this year

I've experimented with several duffle s and found that most are not suitable for CBF people who want to carry 3 out 4 bats plus full kit. The only one I can recommend so far is this GB bag I got from ebay, the one that was supposed to be Matt Prior's. It looks good, has padded interior bat pockets, huge side pockets for kit and pads, separate boot/helmet compartment and comfortable straps. Sadly Adidas don't seem to make an equivalent version for general sale at the moment...

Ive got the qdos bag myself as the store in Torbay is 5 mins away. I cant get pads in the side pockets though. I'd possibly get wk pads in but definitely not my batting pads. It is a great bag otherwise though
-
GM 707 duffel bag is good. Doesn't have wheels and no pocket for valuables.
-
The top aero stand up bag is one of the most organized bags out there. Truly phenomenal as long as you have enough space in your car and don’t care about having a duffle. I use it in my nets now as my kit dries up a lot quicker than in a more cramped duffle.
It can be a pain to insert the side panels but it’s rock solid once you’re done. Here is a review:

I'm not sure on this year's offering but style and size wise I've always found an old B&S duffle (smaller one) is great for nets and the GN supernova great for games - couple of bats, batting gear and loads of clothes plus bowling boots etc fit fine (when I bought it I compared vs the legend bag and wondered how robust it would be with weight in it).

this bag formed the basis for most other brands that copied it, woodwork did almost an exact copy and NB do one too now. I had one along with the tour bag when we were with adidas and they were good but didn't stand up very well. I used a similar model for my own but with a separate bat section at the rear so that you don't have to worry about wedging bats back into the main section if its full of kit.
-
The GN duffles are by far the best design but the quality of mines isn’t where you’d hope it would be. GM have been the toughest wearing ones I’ve seen but they just are set out as well. At least not for what I want.

Yes, separate bat section is a good idea, and you're right, it doesn't stand up too well.
-
Anyone got any opinions on the GM easi load wheelie and the original duffle, cannot decide between them for the life of me lol
-
I've got an Adidas England wheelie player issue that I took to aus and it is a brilliant bit of kit, will be my go to bag for this year with a duffle for nets
-
Gosh, I've really go into this thread and am really thinking of a new bag now - DAMN YOU NERDS! :o
A stand up / wheelie / duffel all in one seems to be difficult to find.
are there any recommendations for wheelies that genuinely do stand up - i may forgo the duffel bit?
-
I don't really get the wheelie duffel thing - what I've always liked about a duffle is that you don't have to carry all the extra weight of wheels, reinforcement etc that make a wheelie bag a pain. Make it massive and add loads of struts/wheels and you're back to square one?
I've had a GN Predator Pro bag the last couple of years, not perfect but haven't seen anything else I thought looked better. The new Chase ones look suspiciously similar but in a nicer colour scheme.

Agreed I was happy and now I fancy the Aero tour stand up :D

I agree regarding the wheelie duffle bag. I don't particularly see the point in it, can anyone explain the benefits of this?
-
GM original duffle (not the wheeled version) I have is amazing can get full bagging and keeping kit in (including 2 helmets) only thing is I need a spare bag for my clothes but I carry that anyway
-

i agree 100% what is the point of having wheels on a duffel when the whole point is it to go on your back as a back back. The wheels generally are the issue that stop it from standing

I also dont see the point of a wheelie-duffle. You are pretty much back at a normal cricket bag.
I have used both the Aero stand up and Hell4Leather Standup, both excellent quality bags which stand up when completely empty with the side supports in. Hell4Leather definitely bigger and has a couple of extra pockets for dry/wet clothes etc.
-
The wheelie duffle thing. Steps amd stairs. To get to a game, im walking down steps, loading the car, more steps involved to and from.
With the wheelie i can stick it on my back for the steps, wheel it elsewhere. My GN test bag was cumbersome with the steps. You know the deal. Grab the straps, lean back as you waddle with it held in front of you.
A wheelie duffle gives me (if no one else!) the best of both worlds...

Could have written this myself.
The predator has a great design but mines has worn out fairly quickly and the zoos are all broken or on their last legs. Had it two seasons so it’s had a fair bit of use but nothing extreme.
-
If I was more organised with my kit i'd manage with a much smaller bag. Problem is I'm in too much of a hurry to go for a pint after the game that I throw everything in
-
So what really does stand up - and what flatters to deceive?
I once had a bag from Prosport, Prostar? Didn't look promising, but stood up straight like a trooper!
-
Bags I’ve had/got that are meant to stand up that don’t
GN LEGEND
B3 big one
Keeley superior
Gn supernova

Slightly surprised it's been that quick! Definitely wouldn't be in a hurry to proclaim it as high quality but mine's held up acceptably, though I'm not usually harsh on kit.

The protective layer on the base has worn away pretty badly in some areas, but no holders yet. All of the zips bar the main one are damaged. Some of them unusable so. Definitely wouldn’t say I was someone who was hard on kit, except that it’s usually pretty full.

Stands up really easily. Most duffel bags are folded when shipped - you just need "unfold" them after unpacking. Easiest way is to pack them, with lots of weight in the shoe section (loads of balls).
External bat section at back - for two bats
Huge shoe section - can easily fit two pairs of shoes..I filled mine with 10 balls and a pair of spikes. Its a versatile design - I played around with various packing methods and put my preferred method in the instagram link.
Chose this over the wheelie, because the wheels do add weight, and because this one looked amazing.

Reviving this rather than starting a new topic, has anyone had any luck finding a wheelie duffle with room for 3 bats? Currently using a GN duffle that is absolutely enormous so looking for something a bit less gigantic but that still has room for 3 bats because this forum has done terrible things to my brain.
