Cheers

Sorry mate only just seenthis topic...they are being designed currently but not sure were going to change too much apart from the colour schemes for the gloves and improve the traditional pads with a new design.

Modern pads will remain in the range but perhaps with a different colour trim etc.

Missed the 2010 season as been concentrating on sorting out the helmets in all honesty, so prob get some samples made up in the next month or so as had plenty of people offering to make the softs for us.

depends how many samples I can wangle out of them as they tend not to produce large batches!

Ok, Tom no problem. Defo go with a blue though .. Modern pads with a blue colour scheme would look slick ;) (Colesy will agree with me there)

had a set of the pads in clue before when we 1st had them sampled as blue was Ayrtek original company colour until we had a new logo designed!

Nah, I think green as their stock bat stickers are green. Also I love green kit first and pink second. Look how 'epic' green was for puma with the 2007 world gear.

After Dans flourescent helmet think that goes well with silver but then people will think were ripping off the Gilly gloves with the red and flor yellow stuff.

Will have to have a crack on photoshop and see what you peeps think later on this week!

Well march turning into April....April to May and now hopefully at the end of June we will have our new range of soft goods samples back with us :)

we have re-vamped the glove colours but stuck with the same designs as they seem popular with the players/public as well as a few others ;) the traditional pads have been improved upon and we have some clothing, bat covers and a stand-up bag sample on the way too!!

Sneek peek of the traditional pads...not the final version as the straps still need tweaking as well as logos etc upon them....

Title: Re: Ayrtek Softs

yeh they are meant to be the test version, may make some changes still as this is only the first run of samples as were looking to get the kit in for Auguest/September time...be good to get some feedback to see what people think as it all helps with progress
Title: Re: Ayrtek Softs
Post by: Buzz on June 23, 2010, 08:23:53 AM
I really like the top ones too... a nice combo of the SS ones and the Bas Vampire pads, both of which I also really like. Is there any way you can make the piping around the bottom of the pad, where it rubs on the shoe, extra resiliant? my pads always get knackered their in no time and it is pretty irritating!
Title: Re: Ayrtek Softs
Post by: iand123 on June 23, 2010, 08:26:25 AM
I prefer the front of the top pads, but the back of the bottom ones! I guess its all about the front though
Title: Re: Ayrtek Softs
Post by: seedy on June 23, 2010, 08:30:23 AM
Sorry tom, not a fan of either the design is pretty generic, i would have thought you would want something a little more innovative?

Title: Re: Ayrtek Softs
Post by: Ayrtek Cricket on June 23, 2010, 08:35:17 AM
yes seedy these are the traditional pads that people have asked us to look at as not everyone wants to go for the modern looking pads. Trying to cover both the innovative and traditional sides of the market to maximise market appeal! :)
Title: Re: Ayrtek Softs
Post by: SillyShilly on June 23, 2010, 08:39:23 AM

I dont think the colours are quite right yet - i think the silver knee protector on the top pair of pads could do with being a different colour, either that or change the top hat background colour to silver as well as the shin bolster?
I know these are just samples so no point being over critical, they just look like they need a little bit of tweaking.......however, these things often look better in the flesh! Are you happy with them Tom?
Title: Re: Ayrtek Softs
Post by: Ayrtek Cricket on June 23, 2010, 08:42:30 AM
havent received them yet mate to look at properly as only have the pics...need to dig out the spec sheets i sent and see if they match up design wise. Will do that once all the stuff is recieved and then can look at alterations as see what matches up to the spec's provided :)

think they look good in terms of providing a traditional looking pads to meet the criteria, hard to be ground breaking with every product lol
Title: Re: Ayrtek Softs
Post by: iand123 on June 23, 2010, 08:44:58 AM
One assumes that you guys send a design off to the factory (which i again assume is in India) they then make a few prototypes and you go back and forth until your happy. They are then "mass" produced?
Title: Re: Ayrtek Softs
Post by: Ayrtek Cricket on June 23, 2010, 08:51:52 AM
indeed mate, unless you take the trip out there to oversee production of said samples and make the alterations there and then. :)
Title: Re: Ayrtek Softs
Post by: iand123 on June 23, 2010, 09:07:18 AM
Do they offer a template pad to start from and you then add your own ideas? I know there isnt a huge amount you can do with pads to make them different, but, ive noticed that alot of companies have similar looking pads. Now ive added 2 + 2 together (and may well have got 5) and assumed they all came from the same factory. Dont know whether you can confirm or deny that
Title: Re: Ayrtek Softs
Post by: Ayrtek Cricket on June 23, 2010, 09:11:00 AM
it would be a bit demanding if everything came from the same factory as im sure many brands use different manufactuers...there are 100's of companies who offer the service so its just a case of finding one that meets the quality and provides the service you want and that your comfortable with.
Title: Re: Ayrtek Softs
Post by: iand123 on June 23, 2010, 09:13:34 AM
ah ok, just seemed to be a rough template on pads as to me alot of them look very similar. although unless you go down the aero route there isnt really too much difference in most pads
Title: Re: Ayrtek Softs
Post by: Ayrtek Cricket on June 23, 2010, 09:15:23 AM
well we already have a modern design of pad that we are happy with so trying to produce something more tradtional looking this time to complete the range. All traditional pads are going to require the same basic design template all be it with a few alterations to each design.
Title: Re: Ayrtek Softs
Post by: Colesy on June 23, 2010, 12:20:15 PM
They look good Tom, Like the bottom pair most. Very disappointed there is no blue involved :(

Happy Birthday to your bro too!
Title: Re: Ayrtek Softs
Post by: umz_786 on June 23, 2010, 04:17:49 PM
I'll be honest - I dont like them at all. Very generic and not all that traditional either. How about just a traditional no frills design - cane like construction but actually made form HDF so its light and wraps around well? Something simple like this imo:

Title: Re: Ayrtek Softs
Post by: peplow on June 23, 2010, 04:26:10 PM
because they've already be done too and aren't very nice.

I like them! Not mad about the ayrtek on the front knee roll and bottom! But general design and colouring is good, except maybe not a strong enough red and the silver needs to be matched elsewhere imo, but looking smart thomas!

Recieved a few snaps of the mid-range glove and been having a play with the green, silver and black colour scheme to tie in with the bat stickers....

Buzz glad you think our designs are out of this world lol!!! (You can tell its friday and i had a day on the sauce yesterday)

Liam yes we have all 3 styles of glove being sampled so once recieved ill get some images up.....they are not the final version but a working progress as such until we are happy with the colour schemes/designs etc
Title: Re: Ayrtek Softs
Post by: Buzz on June 25, 2010, 03:59:37 PM
They are actually growing on me - although I think the fingers look a bit small, like these are youth size.
Title: Re: Ayrtek Softs
Post by: Ayrtek Cricket on June 25, 2010, 04:07:28 PM
yeh these are the youth version but they are a replica of the adult ones as all gloves are made to the same spec to keep the protection levels the same no matter what size they are made in :)
Title: Re: Ayrtek Softs
Post by: umz_786 on June 25, 2010, 04:48:19 PM
gloves look nice. That ayrtek logo also looks more professional, maybe its coz of the silver/black combo. I like the design but would prefer more green, because it looks out of place just on the sidebar. And lose the silver smarties on all finger apart from 2 leading fingers lol

5/10 imo - current gloves are better
Title: Re: Ayrtek Softs
Post by: alexrickyponting on June 25, 2010, 05:52:44 PM
maybe for each colour scheme the "smarties" could be coloured as well so green in this case etc?
Title: Re: Ayrtek Softs

get the pads right we could be talking notes....

nothing wrong with your current pads just not me bud
Title: Re: Ayrtek Softs
Post by: Ayrtek Cricket on June 25, 2010, 07:00:36 PM
The "smarties" are hard disks of plastic that are present to protect your knuckles/joints of the fingers as areas of extra protection. Colours could be interchanges but Tring to tie everything in with silver, black and green as mentioned earlier
Title: Re: Ayrtek Softs
Post by: alexrickyponting on June 25, 2010, 08:03:21 PM
yeah, i fugured thay were there for a reason, i meant if the colour sticker of the same-part-of-the-range bat was green, then the disks of plastic could be green? im not sure if im making any sense :S

They aren't FOC I'm afraid mate looking for £27 inc P&P...very comfortable with a pittards style palm and good protection levels whilst remaining very lightweight.

Will be giving my pair a trial tonight along with the silver pads in the T20 (if i get in)!

Might have to fight you for them!

Tom, I think you definitely need to get some samples made left-handed just to check that your supplier of choice can replicate the quality of the right-handed versions  :P

pittards style palm
Whats that mean mate?
Title: Re: Ayrtek Softs
Post by: Ayrtek Cricket on July 07, 2010, 09:16:16 AM
well its not genuine pittards as that comes from Yeovil and requires a label saying thats its authentic pittards leather etc....however the leather used on these is a grade up from the normal calf leather used on the other gloves.
Title: Re: Ayrtek Softs
Post by: procricket on July 07, 2010, 09:38:21 AM
Just seen them like the top pads very much not sure about the bottom pair not too keen on the rasped form look on the panals

top pair look top draw mate
Title: Re: Ayrtek Softs
Post by: procricket on July 07, 2010, 09:39:36 AM
Tom are the gloves the Indian pittard style gloves bas use and champ sports and robinsons

I find this style is better than pittards just not as long lasting

Just like to say Tom the softs look impressive this year mate top job
Title: Re: Ayrtek Softs
Post by: Ayrtek Cricket on July 07, 2010, 09:42:38 AM
they will be road tested tonight mate to see how they feel ;) the palms are the indian version of pittards yes as opposed to the proper version from Yeovil

Post by: umz_786 on July 07, 2010, 10:59:03 AM
you should do a 3 piece sidebar.  2 piece looks odd. bring back that uber cool black/silver logo - looked very slick and remove the smarties!

Recieved the final batch of glove samples today.....think there maybe overkill of the use of silver, black and green to tie in with our Elite colour scheme so will in all likelyhood scale it back a touch. Feel very nice though with the different "pittards" palm finish on them. Also got them with silver sections and without.....feedback welcomed which will help improve the overall look with any luck :)

I much prefer the second set. I don't think I'd change them.

Electric blue would look nice though ;)

by 2nd set do you mena the bottom picture pair?
Title: Re: Ayrtek Softs
Post by: Colesy on August 04, 2010, 04:25:34 PM
I do, the ones without the silver diamonds and coloured sweatband

logo need changing to black and silver to tie in with the rest of it an should have been embossed rather than screen printed too. Not sure if having 2 coloured figners is too much though as wanted highlights of colour on them which seems a bit to heavy at the moment!

Post by: peplow on August 04, 2010, 04:28:35 PM
Yeah def think the bottom pair are the best and possibly wouldnt change them!

cant beat an electric blue though, i'm with colesy, but then i've never overly loved green :)

If I were to change anything probably take the green out and just have a black index finger on either glove

maybe just the first or last two shark tooths coloured???

Diagonal line in black across the gloves similar to Kookaburras?
Title: Re: Ayrtek Softs
Post by: Ayrtek Cricket on August 04, 2010, 04:55:01 PM
Perhaps a black wrist band and black finger with some silver highlights may look a bit smarter!

Post by: Colesy on August 04, 2010, 05:02:12 PM
White wristband is fine, keep it one colour though, not a fan of the bands on it

Tom you should go for the monocrome look - Use black and silver for the space age feel and only use colour on the bat stickers. That would look awesome imo. And embossed is definitely better than printing the logo on.

I like the ones with the silver patches just not the coloured sweatbands but both look ok

Cheers mate...was a bit aprehensive of the first colour scheme as didnt particulary like the black finger on them and thought the white wristband and mesh looked better as sampled on the premier gloves. Will see how these go as may revert the wristband back to black if they get dirty too quickly!

Only the samples we had sent over mate, may re-stock on them as well shortly but the Elite model seem to be the most popular model in all honesty at the moment.
