Came across a video where kohli cuts a little off the top of his handles and i was thinking of doing the same on my SH as it doesnt feel quite right. Does it affect the balance of the bat?
-
Balance wise it doesnt make any difference.
If I were you I would cut it half way through the knob and try it for a couple of nets (before chopping it all)- depending on how tall you are it might feel a bit weird.

Im planning on removing half an inch as my other custom made is half inch shorter on SH and feels better.

What about it doesn't feel right? Depending on why it's not right would depend on what you may need to alter, surely?

I used to do this on SBLH bats, don't think it has a huge impact on balance or feel, but I did find you lose a bit of a sense of where to place your top hand if you grip from the top of the handle.

I’ve done this a few times with SB LH bats. Cut the majority of the (No Swearing Please) off leaving a few mm so the binding doesn’t start coming apart
Then used layered cut strips of grip to remake the (No Swearing Please) at the top of the handle, one of them remains my best bat ever. Never had any issues.

Feels awkward on pulls and short balls.

Interesting. What bat is it?

What weight do you currently use ? Could it be too heavy and you need to go down 2 Oz ?

Ended up cutting the handles today. No noticeable affect on balance etc. Feels right now.
