Run on the Tredmill whenever you have the chance, if not pound the streets!

If you go gym just get a personal trainer to give you a routine to build the muscles you use in cricket and have some cardio: bike treadmill ect. and go often. That's what I do.

no point in just pounding the street if weight loss is after you need to get in fat burning mode with a heart rate monitor.

for cricket fitness/football fartlek training is advisable

What is fat burning mode?

heart rate within a certain limit bud type in fat burning and it will tell you bud it is a different pace depends on your weight and age.

it about 60-70 per cent of maximum

Oh the training zone thing, the area you should be working at for your heart rate lark :)

i work hard on both fartlek and fat burning it seems to work that and the bin liner approch

Your max heart rate is 220-your age so if your 20 your max heart rate is 200 so 60-80% of your heart rate would be 120-160... most good treadmills and bikes ect have monitors.....

TBH I wouldn't say Fartlek is very useful for cricket, I'd say interval.

fartlek does it for me a good 5 mile effort but i have no choice in doing it interval what is leo????

Interval is basically starting and stopping, then starting and stopping again. Much like in cricket. You'll stand there doing nothing for 10 minutes then sprint after a ball.
Whatever works for the individual is right tho i guess

doesnt that mean its working though?^^ :L
the idea behind fat burniong mode is that fat needs more oxygen to be broken down and turned into energy therefor you have to work at a lower intensity than you would normally for exercise.
if you want to shed weight i would say do HIIT, eg do a 10 second sprint then 20 second walk, then sprint again. it will burn off your stored carbs then start working on the fat reserves.

Swimming is one of the best cardiovascular exercises going, uses many more different muscles to just running, good for full body conditioning

Yep it kills but you know your getting results. Hurts having a circuit training session, then a bleep test and then nets in the same day though!

Include some skipping, it is great cardio. Gets the heart racing and lower impact on the joints than running.
