Hey guys. Been on the forum a bit over the last 24 hours, and I've seen some pretty p*ss-poor postings!
As a long time user of CSF, and now this forum, I think it sucks.
We've all laughed on here about how CSF went downhill. There were idiots posting, dodgy deals and fake bats flying around and sh*tty little spats between teenage keyboard warriors who should know better.
Well, I tell, you, if some of you want to turn this forum into the same Thing, you are going about it the right way!
I keep seeing rants and threads about this bloke scammed me this, and this bloke sells fake that, this guy didn't post this - then the rest of you all pile in, where it's none of your business!
I don't blame you guys for being cheesed off if you've been scammed, or given poor service - I'd get the hump too!!
BUT CAN'T WE JUST BAN THE D*CKHEADS AND IDIOTS?
AND ALL YOU PEOPLE COMING ON HERE SELLING FAKES, CHEATING BUYERS, STARTING FIGHTS AND STALKING MEMBERS ON FACEPLANT AND MSN AND THE LIKE - WHY DON'T YOU JUST HEAD OFF ELSEWHERE, AND LEAVE THIS FORUM TO THE REAL CRICKET EQUIPMENT NERDS, WHO LOVE DISCUSSING IT?
AND IF IT AINT YOUR FIGHT, STAY OUT OF IT - ONE MORE UNINFORMED OPINION ON A THREAD WON'T HELP!!!
C'mon guys - this was the place to post, and it's beginning to change, and if it continues the good posters will leave and the decent kit on offer will disappear.
-
I 100% Agree. When I joined the forum, none of this dogpoo was around. In the 6 Months i've been here it has all changed. Come on guys, get your act sorted!
-
well said Bruce, normally the younger ones!

AMEN FATTUS!!!!

I do agree and apologise for my recent post. It however does have a purpose, showing that people are not as clever as they think they are and can get away with it. As well as trying to keep the issues quiet via pm's when people have a right to know who is dodgy and not to deal with in future. It also gives people signs of what to look out for if they think they are being scammed
-
I agree also, however for the forum to grow Leo & the owner need to decide what this forum is about. Are they in it for the £ and advertising etc. (Which I guess is only natural) If we're not careful we're gonna be moving forums again which is frustrating, I hear rumours of a new forum opening and I don't want to see the CB members there...
How about a seperate section with baby threads that's only avaliable to the select few, e.g. you have to have earned your place. The members of the section can vote on who posts and who doesn't...
I think this will create a lot of fights, but be better for the decent posters.
Thanks,
G Bulldurggg

the truth it is hard to say what is best it all opinon based like some people like me some hate me but i will be honest there to much dodgyness going on and i suspect it has been going on all along..
the forum is fine but there to many people doing the wrong thing and envy leads to greed and i suspect that is what we have here..
i will not lie i only deal with people i think i can trust and it is harder to trust on here when people are selling stuff when we all know they could get more on ebay..
i know we all want to help fellow likeminded cricketers out well that the aim of it all surely????

I've been on hear since the days of af cricket, and have been a mod, and it is noticable, this past haven of cricket knowledge, insider tips. and arousal over edge sizes is slowely turning to a kids free for all.
1)Theres no Lekka on this one, so it's already ahead of the game!
2)It's the new set of young'uns, (sound like an old man here). That was the problem with other forums, you guys seem to throw away your dignity and respect, in search of a quick buck for some (No Swearing Please) gear, or sponsorship. Please think before you post guys. you are bringing everyone else on the forum down to your level, as it now takes a good while wading through the heaps of (No Swearing Please) on here
3) Anyone buying of the forum will take risks buying blind, i'm not advocating lying, but you should be careful who you deal with. Don't come bitching to everyone else in this fashion, your grown up enough be on the internet, so take responsability. Maybe ask the forum if you are unsure, BEFORE buying.
I Really dont want to see this place go down the drain!
Rant over.... Magners time
You can talk with that Signature - :D
There's nothing childish about driving a loud, bright white car with blue stripes and a loud stereo...... Honest :(
-
and i going against the grain here but in my opinion the forum is about more than meets the eye stuff.....
controversal i may be but it is intereting when you put something up in good faith about company products it no suprise to me that there others on here i knoe the little click put the equipment down because they have personal issue with other companys.
there are good people on here spending there hard earned cash but there are some on here who just use this as there buisness empire and try to knock anything or everthing about something that is nothing to do with them at all .
iam not getting into anything but i suspect some on here love the fact they get the younger members who not knocking you have not a clue at all to spend there money on something they say is best when in truth this forum is only as big as it members..
i enjoy the forum but if what i have said is worth banning me then so be it iam a principled man and i stand by what i have said
if you want it in english please ask somebody else sorry about my grammer and english like i have said school was not realy my thing
-
I've never been on CSF but I agree there is an increase in arguments and ..... scammed off ....... and I have to say I've said things I shouldn't have on here but I agree that most people on here get along and it is a generally nice place to be on.
-
ive also realised that this forum has become virtually an online store, when i look to the bottom of the home page all the topic are from "goods for sale/swap" once upon a time we would actually talk about cricket and talk about kit!!!!! OH HOW I MISS THE DAYS!!!!
-
I agree with the cat, there are some that add nothing to the forum. But just waste time asking about sales, and also post alot of crap, if we could ban them then it would help the forum move forward,
-
agree there colesy i have meet 3 people i would say are genuine mates i would meet and have a beer with and i know there are more out there :)
i suspect roco that is pointed my way i understand that bud

I think the people on here who people always get along with are genuine. I don't have a problem with anyone on here and there are some people who I think are really generous.

Not really, I don't particulary like you nor do I massively dislike, but there are more irritating people on this forum, and I feel don't contribute in a positive way,
one thing you need to learn procricket is to edit your post rather than doubling it up when you add to it.
Majority on here seem fine and I have got many good deals, just others are not worth their posts
-
Thank you for all your comments on this subject. It would be worth everyone reading this post as a starter:

The CB team will review these house rules and publish updated ones if appropriate. Leo will also email this all existing and new members as a polite reminder, and will make sure that he and other moderators take the relevant action on irrelevant, insensitive, mal-intented posts.
Most, if not all of us are cricket lovers and fanatics, and it is up to all of us to make sure this is the kind of forum we want it to be ... by providing the CB team with constructive suggestions, by thinking twice before you post unnecessary comments, by sticking to cricketing subjects, etc... there are other ways to have personal conversations (eg. MSN chat).
Remember, it is not just forum members who can view your posts, it is the worldwide internet community ... so you are only showing your own true colours by arguing in public :)
There is a lot of cricket experience in the forum members and a lot of excellent suggestions and free advice given my members in their own time, and we can all increase our knowledge and enjoyment of the game through this. Agreed?
-
At the end of the day if i buy something from someone on this forum and it turns out not be genuine etc then i will post comments regarding this and see absolutely nothing wrong with that. People that perhaps do see something wrong with it may agree with selling fake goods etc and if so then fair enough but the best way to stop the arguments is to take action against people who do this.
-
rich top words my father it intereting but i think to be honest bringing out dodgy deals and such may bring the forum down but unlike ebay there are no gaurentees and if the deal is done right there will be no come backs......
mr custom bats agree entirely with your post and agree there are lots of experiance in the forum good guys who sometimes do deals at a loss ie the man above this post.
it needs to get back not just to selling and buying but to real cricket related topics like how fat is shane watson but how much has he improved as a cricketer..

Yes but Rich remember you did this to me, and ruined my good reputation? When the bat was returned to me it went off for more then you paid to somone else straight away!?
-
LOL ! Yes, the size of Shane Watson is an interesting topic!
But seriously, maybe the trader feedback system could be a way of reporting dodgy deals ... but please, please when you're buying anywhere on the internet, be careful, do your research, and if you're in doubt, then don't go ahead with the purchase. There are some good retailers/manufacturers on this forum and they're there for a reason ... they may not give you the cheapest option, but they can be relied upon.
-
Fingers crossed that when most of us get around to doing the thing we love and getting some much needed sunshine, the discussions about cricket and all things related (like how fat is Watson?!) will pick up. It's been a long cold winter and maybe some of us have been stuck in doors to much. Time for a fresh season and start on here.

Since you raised the issue Dan I'm more than willing to go over this again however I'm sure the members don't need reminded about what was sold or should say Miss sold and if you sold it for more than i paid then I'm not responsible if people are thick.
As far as I'm concerned I've dealt with it and I've moved on.
-
I dont think forum members should be blamed for voicing their opinions, which will occasionally start arguements, but these things can only be sorted out by people explaining themselves and moving on. Highlighting this will only make it worse as people rush in and say how much they agree (thus saying that they are in the right and not taking any responsibility personally for the back biting and argueing)
Not a personal attack on anybody in particular, but instead of saying "oh yes i agree, people need to stop argueing" its should maybe be more "im sorry for being a douche"
Ill say right now that ive been involved in arguements and probably havent helped by making certain comments, by people accepting responsibilty for their errors, no matter how small, perhaps everyone can get along and we wont make the same mistakes over and over again?
-
Ive been on this for 2 years now and can only say what a great forum this is.I have personally learnt a lot from the reviews of different bats and equipment which is important as I live in Spain and cant buy any cricket equipment over here. Also I just ignore the kids having a go at each other but have no problems with it.When the weather changes in the UK and the cricket season starts perhaps these kids will be out playing instead of argueing on the Forum.
Ive bought 5 bats this year from forum members, a helmet and a set of pads all of which were good deals and I am really chuffed. I am fortunate not to have been stung but am particular of whom I buy from.I also ask those in the know for advice and really appreciate their opinions. If I have been sold a pup them believe me you will hear about it! No complaints otherwise just keep up the good work and lets have less sniping and backbiting and concentrate on cricket.
-
With the selling/buying/trading aspect, I am very cautious and always go on reputation. I always look at the feedback on the members profile. I have just gone back today and submitted feedback for dealings I had forgot to.
Maybe you could add a feedback percentage on the left of everyones posts, under their other stats. Rather than people having to go onto their profile to have a look. Which some people won't know/do.
I agree with Fattus, I remember almost all of the "older" members (no offence! you can be 17 and classed as an older member by me). They have great reputations but some kids come along and effect this for no reason. Most of us members know that when contacting Mike we need to be patient as he is a very busy person. Some of the younger members need to deal in a more matured way when selling/buying.
I feel I have matured on the forums now after being around on them for 3 years
ive also realised that this forum has become virtually an online store, when i look to the bottom of the home page all the topic are from "goods for sale/swap" once upon a time we would actually talk about cricket and talk about kit!!!!! OH HOW I MISS THE DAYS!!!!
good to see you back on the forum mate!
-
the feed back would be good and prob work but people don't fill it I have dealt with quite a few people left feedback but curtiosy not returned it would slow the jokers if not stop them
-
ive done a few sales/purchases recently but havent been left any feedback (although i have ensured that the other party is 100% satisfied with the deal)
-
You sold your GM yet Si?
-
yeah, did a deal with sir pete of hosk which saw an mmi3 come my way
-
He's a very lucky man :)
-
yeah, stormin bat, just not for me :(
-
Will just echo what others have said. I am not big on forums (fora?) and out of all my interests (others being a distant second behind cricket ofcourse!) the only forum I visit regularly is about cricket and this one in particular. Generally speaking there's good advice to be had and good banter within bounds. Even some good heated arguments from time to time which are mostly constructive. Buying/selling is the tricky bit in any community so some tensions are bound to arise but as long as there is a good presence of trustworthy retailers, then on the whole it is beneficial (as PM7 said above)
Hopefully FC's shout will reign in deviant behaviour before this goes downhill.

Ok, well said it was fake? And it was a plank, both of which are incorrect,
-
Your wrong i never said it was fake however i did say it was a plank and it was, guess my standards are higher than yours if you feel it wasn't. If you wish to debate this further then drop me an email as other forum members have already said they don't wish to read this and your raising a topic which is several months old and i mean several months.
