Title: Warwickshire Helmets...
Post by: petehosk on September 04, 2010, 02:55:33 PM
Was just watching a bit of the pro40 game with Warwickshire starting their batting innings!
We have already had the now normal comment about the Ayrtek looking like a cycling helmet! But Carter is wearing his, and I know that most of the players use the Ayrtek helments for Warwickshire. But I also noticed that Trott seems to be the odd one out!? Is he just a stubborn git who won't comply with Ayrtek? Or is it cos he's an England International, and may be 'encouraged' to wear a different brand of helmet?

Were the rest wearing them I.e bell etc? Didn't see any of it yesterday as I was at a wedding.

Trott has worn his before and scored runs but may stick to his masuri after his latest big score for england??  Who knows!!

The ones in the Champions league looked well. They dont stand out as much as i thought they would. Its a pity i got an albion on sale last week as i would like an ayrtek now
Title: Re: Warwickshire Helmets...
Post by: Wills on September 11, 2010, 05:53:58 PM
ayrtek, u should have sponsored somerset instead...
Title: Re: Warwickshire Helmets...
Post by: peplow on September 11, 2010, 06:08:59 PM
why?? they are playing each other lol, altho somerset did get to t20 final! warks approached him so it wasnt as if he sponsored them either!
Title: Re: Warwickshire Helmets...
Post by: Wills on September 11, 2010, 06:32:06 PM
i never knew that warks appoached him.

because somerset, this season, have done well in all 3 formats.
and have made it into 2 out of the 2 finals.
so there would be some good exposure.

I was born in Hampshire so I will always support them, and was so pleased they won the T20 this year!!!
However, I must admit that Somerset are almost certainly the strongest all-round County this year!
Bowling is very good, their batting is even better and their fielding is generally top notch!! And every time they play, they play as a team.

Yeah busy weekend for the helmets it seems both in the Champions league and in the CB40 with the Warwickshire lads as well....

Bit of a mixture of helmets/grills and rather large stickers....12 vent helmets, 4 vent helmets our 09 grill as well as albion grill being used!!!!

Would love to kit somerset out with their helmets as its only down to road to both somerset and Glos are even closer....like to look after the local lads but as Warwickshire came along and were the first county to want a full squads worth we were more than happy to supply them....I wouldnt say we sponsored them as they paid for the helmets :)
Title: Re: Warwickshire Helmets...
Post by: Ayrtek Cricket on September 11, 2010, 08:15:35 PM
Seems not as many of the warwickshire lads are wearing them for the CB40 stuff but in fairness they were designed to go with their T20 shirts/kit so im still quite happy that they are making an appearance.....seems Darren Maddy likes his :)

Just found this on the Lords website that made me chuckle...

Crunch! Barker misses a hook and is struck on the grill by Thomas, nearly knocking him off his feet!
Barker is fine but there is a slight delay while he changes his helmet. That was a vicious ball from Thomas who checked Barker was OK straight away. It's the end of Barker's rather shiny gold helmet though, it's Bears blue now.

Its the first time that i have seen a batsman uninjured or cut after getting hit in the grill..ponting,strauss,pollard,flynn etc.
Well done ayrtek, that shows how important helmets are in this game. You should see sales increasing now
Title: Re: Warwickshire Helmets...
Post by: Ayrtek Cricket on September 19, 2010, 04:25:25 PM
Yeah nice when the design features pay off and are proven to work....4 point chin strap stopped it pivoting, side flares and rib stopped the helmet flexing upon pact and pushing the grill back towards the face!

Hopefully people will be less sceptical now of the shape and technology as it's been proven to work as shown :)

Well I was down at M&H on Thursday hoping they will stock the helmets next season so people can go there and try them on etc but will wait to see if they get back to me. Will be emailing out the other county sides shortly in advance of next season to see if they are interested in using the helmets as well :)

Ayrtek give Somerset priority!
Or at the very least, give Pollard one for free!

watching the vid where ponting gets hit in his elmet by harmison.

then watching the vid of your helmet same sort of impact really shows how strong these things are. the balls hit him in the grill and peak and its intact 100% the main thing u see on helmets being hit as well is they end up being pushed up toward the top of the head!

10/10 tom cant wait to get mine

You'd be surprised. Some grilles the pros wear probably aren't titanium on the basis that it doesn't happen very often. You can tell between Albion steel and Albion Ti.

Quick update from our website on the feautres of the helmet that helped keep out the delivery

Barker Bouncer not a Problem Posted on 19 Sep,2010
Keith Barker took an 84mph bouncer to the face in yesterday CB40 final from Alfonso Thomas but shook it off without any issue due to the fact he was wearing his ACIS Elite helmet. In the words of David "Bumble" Lloyd....

"That new style probably saved him there, not sure the older ones would have done the job"

footage of this blow can be seen in the video below.....and in our gallery section

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mMVR_MEeVOk

Ayrtek unique design features helped him avoud any form of injury, unlike Kieron Pollard who have to leave the field for Somerset a few weeks ago.

    * The 4 point chin strap stablised the helmet upon impact, where as a single attachement at either side would have pivoted.
    * The grill (made from grade 5 titanium) absorbed the impact and transferred the energy into thhe flares at the side of the helmet acted to stop the helmet deforming sideways and brigning the grill towards Keiths face.
    * The rib which reenforces the peak of the helmet acted to keep the shell rigid and performed as per BSI and Simpact testing theory.
    * The ACIS aided the fit of the helmet on Keiths head so that it wasnt loose fitting and kept him protected.

Caught a snap of Barker's grille after
(http://i875.photobucket.com/albums/ab312/JoeColes/Bounceer.png?t=1284928162)

Not bad seeing it got hit at over 80mph

Fractured weld on the A-frame by the looks of it, easy enough to repair....will see properly when he sends it back down

Helmet and grill for Mr Barker after his little 84mph incident...the shell is absolutely fine, few marks on it from being knocked about it his kit bag i would imagine but no evidence of a blow whatsoever......the grill on the other hand did the hard work in keeping him safe and has a nice little kink in it from the ball and a fractured weld. In Summary, new Ti grill to be added and then its good as new to send back up to Keith :D

Sammy is correct they paid for all their helmets as they had an entire squads worth, we don't pay anyone to use our product as it's in their interest to keep themselves safe by wearing one
