Starts tonight, it's fair to say I'm looking forward to it :)
-
Will be fun to see how many Aussies turn out for it
-
I really hope they give Morgan a chance to prove what he can do because he is in poll position to take over from Collingwood, and after Collys own admission earlier that he is probably going to retire soon, and they cant just chuck him in with very little experience next summer! But unless they replace Colly himself I cant think who else they will bring Morgan in for.
My prediction is probably an unchanged team unless they bring Finn back.
-
Prob unchanged and they will give colly a farewell test next year at home or in this test
-
I can't see them bringing Finn back in after Tremlett/Anderson/Bresnan have bowled well
-
I can't see them bringing Finn back in after Tremlett/Anderson/Bresnan have bowled well
Harsh on Finn, but no need to change a winning team
-
right colly off at your peril we have been here before and a ton here and he back in it no doubts
-
I think he is a fighter Dave but he has had his time everyone does
-
Need a draw for my bet to come off. hasnt it been pissing down in sydney?
-
What would everyone's view be if Colly got a big 'un?
-
Would be nice if colly scored a big one and retired....your as good as your last game.
He still has alot to offer to the one day team
-
I still think it's his time this series or have the next one at home as a kind of testimonial as he deserves it for all the crap he has got us out of down the years
-
It would be typical of colly to come good in this test, but, he has looked horribly out of touch so far
-
colly's a fighter , he will get a big score i reckon and get back into good form , it happened a few years back he was close to getting dropped and got a stack of runs !
-
If he does thats great, but it would just be a great send off I think. There are so many good youngsters out there, like Morgan, James Taylor and even a slightly older head like Bopara would do a better job. He doesnt offer too much bowling anymore, except possibly in ODI's. The only thing I think he offers more than some other players is his fielding.
-
I honestly don't think Colly has been THAT bad - after 4 test matches he's only had 5 knocks, as he only batted once at Brisbane, Adelaide and Melbourne. He was going ok in Adelaide and got 40 odd, and was in good nick in the warm up games. I think though, as mentioned previously, the perfect scenario would be for him to hit a match winning ton in Sydney, England win the series 3-1 and he announces his retirement from the test side going out on a high.
-
Anyone know if the weather's going to be ok for a prompt start?
-
It was raining a few hours ago as per Tim Abraham..... Sky Sports funnyman.
Hope it starts on time as its a workday tommorow
-
It's weird, would you rather retire after an Ashes series win in Australia for the first time in 24 years, or bow out on your homeground?
I just hope the weather holds for an ontime start
-
I'll prob retire in an office when I'm in my sixties...
-
I should've been more specific ;)
-
Usman Khawaja should not be batting at 3. If Aus bat first and one of the openers fall within the first 5 overs then its going to leave alot of pressure on the young batsman.
If I was a selector I would have him down at 5 with clarke at 3 and huss at 4
-
By the looks of things weather isn't looking too good fro today's play !
-
Is Clarke the man to bat at 3 though? The selectors will be worried that if an opener falls quickly and Clarke, a man in poor form comes in, then he goes aswell the momentum will be all England and they will be scared about another under par score.

Maybe but then surely they should be worried about sending a man on debut in? as the same is likely to happen, at least clarke will have enperience on his side, and he has made a 80/90 odd this series..
-
Aus batting first.....delighted
-
All the pundits on twitter are saying it's bowl first conditions.....
Clarke is batting
-
Khawaja WILL be 3
-
In all fairness all the hype surrounding Khawaja, if Australia dropped him down to 5, England would be all over him with the banter. If he's good enough to play for Australia, then he should bat in his own position.
-
have the Aussie shirts got pink trim?
-
Warne mentioning Knowle in Bristol <3
-

he bats 5 for NSW though ok he bats 3 sometimes
-
Hughes gone on stroke of lunch
-
quality shots by Khwaja to get off the mark. Looks so relaxed
-
what bat is khwaja using?
-
GN ;)
Ignite I guess unless they have a new range for 2011
-
cheers
watching it online, so hard to see with the bad quality picture
-
I've got some pictures, uploading now.

Sorry about the quality.
Does it say e41?
-
cheers for that mate
i like the look of the stickers
yer could be e or maybe c41
-
Yeah I don't mind them either. Khawaja's using it well anyway.
-
big improvement at 3 to ponting
looks fairly solid at the moment
-
Watson fails again after getting himself in
Lol shout of 'Oh no' from Watson as he edged it.
-
And Khwaja goes to Swann, caught last ball of the day...
Come on England!!!
-
Though he went last ball of the day, he did look pretty impressive, much better than Punter has been this series IMO.
-
Looks a class act....all they need to do now is stick Callum Ferguson in instead of Smith and they would have a well balanced side.
-
11pm start tonight
-
11pm start tonight
the aussies all out by 3am this morning i feel , maybe with 250-300 on board , England bat rest of day only 1 wicket falling
Thats how I see today's play , Anyways time for me to get full of coffee :D
-
Like the look of that number 3 he looks a test player all they need now is a quality opener and a good number 4 and another quality seamer and possible a spinner who can take wickets then they might be balanced and effective
-
Earlier start today because of the rain yesterday - how many we going to bowl them out for then? Anything under 230 would be great IMO.
-
That would be great i think they might get up too 300 -350... all depends on them 2 at the wicket
-

Nip Haddin & Hussey out early & we're in business. I don't fear the rest much
-
Could be tough - this is their best 2 batters by a country mile.
I fancy Swanny to pick up another couple.
-
Vaughny bigging up Chris tremlet on TMS. saying if he stays injury free for next 12 months and plays 15 tests he will climb up those rankings. i totally agree, watched him bowl last night I just thought he was quality. I'll be keeping my fingers crossed for him- you have to hand it to the big quicks who come back from injury after injury- simon jones a particularly sad case- though on a more positive note he is still playing for hants, I think...
-
Haddin gone....... game on
-
i don't think there is long left in the aussi innings now !!
-
What does everyone think of Steve Smiths technique ?
-
LOOSE
-
needs to get there, hes all hands by the look of it
-
Good work colly
-
collingwood you beauty :D !!!!!
-
Whoop colly is more than part time!!!!
-
He might as well retire now :) Now all he needs is a ton and he can bow out gracefully!
-
280 all out ,
now 150-0 or 1 down would be good ! :D
-
Is it a 11:00 start again tonight, or back to the normal 11:30?
-
Is it a 11:00 start again tonight, or back to the normal 11:30?
Half 11
-
Thanks Jeet
-
Thanks Jeet
No worries
-
Sorry I got it wrong, on Cricinfo is says start at 11pm but BBC said half 11!
-
That's alright lol, just saw Aggers' tweet saying 11 so thought I'd check.
-
Is it just me or does anderson look like a proper batsmen in his mongoose gear.
-
Or not!
The goose pads look really good low down
-
Not sure who has fewer shots, Jimmy Anderson or phil Tufnell. still, jimmy does a great job as night watchman :)
Come on Colly, get a ton. I'd love it, just love it.
-
hilfenhous looking dangerous ! swinging it quiet a bit :o
-
I hope Colly nudges, nurdles, grinds, bores & fiddles his way to a 100.
-
Gotta hate cheating......
-
Disgusting
-
Disgrace that
-
desperation from a poor excuse for a test match cricketer and evidently now a cheating lying ****
-
desperation from a poor excuse for a test match cricketer and evidently now a cheating lying ****
Seconded
-
Give him the benifit of doubt and hope that he realised that he didn't quite get the catch!
But it's probably inexperience! Most players would actually of turned to the umpires and made it clear that they are unsure!!
-
no doubt to be given the benefit of!!
that was so poor, hopefully he will be reminded of it for years to come
-
Inexperience or not Peter it was unforgivable . . . . U-11 juniors at our club know not to cheat so would expect a little better of a test match player!!
no doubt to be given the benefit of!!
that was so poor, hopefully he will be reminded of it for years to come
Oh he will no doubt!!
Terrible shot Colly
-
Terrible cricket (except catch)
-
very poor shot by Colly - impatient and undisciplined
-
You guys may disagree but I think Beer deserved a wicket. He's bowled pretty well
-
You guys may disagree but I think Beer deserved a wicket. He's bowled pretty well
No doubt he's bowled well . . . but still a terrible shot to get out to!
-
You guys may disagree but I think Beer deserved a wicket. He's bowled pretty well
I agree with you jeet , he's bowled very well
-
I'd place him somewhere in between Doherty and Warne... lol
-
Please Si, Doherty and Hauritz
-
You guys may disagree but I think Beer deserved a wicket. He's bowled pretty well
I agree. He seems to get a little drift
-
i meant at an indeterminate point of course
-
He just seems to bowl wide of the stumps to right handers and then it turns further away, doesnt seem to attack the stumps much to right handers.
Line looks good to lefties though
-
Beer deserved a wicket, but I'm sure that Beer would have preferred anyone else but the off-form Colly!
But I guess your first Test wicket is always special!
Would like to see Bell hit his form again - he deserved to bat at 5, especially with Colly on bad form!
The aussies have the balls to move Haddin and Smith around, so no reason why Bell and Colly shouldn't!!
-

Line looks good to lefties though
To be fair Beer has played 7 F/C games, so he hasn't mastered his trade yet
-
that was almost like a sympathy wicket, and colly remembered he was batting for his career only on the walk off!
-
Jeet Im not saying he is a bad bowler it was just an observation about his bowling.... he tightened it up mostly in those last few balls to bell, but still dropped one short and wide!!
-
Well played Alistair Cook... Well deserved Century. Please make it a double! :)
-
This is getting boring now. I'm fed up of steamrollering these small countries.
We need to be playing tougher teams, like Bangladesh or New Zealand.
-
The Aussies are where the windies were in the early 90's for me on the downward spiral after dominating world cricket for years let's just hope they don't slip as far best cricket around at the mom is sa vs ind great fast bowling vs great batting steyn against sachin was a joy to watch sachin even hogged the strike so he could face him
-
After watching Steve Smith "try" to bat and bowl, you gotta feel for Hauritz.
And to think Ponting let Hauritz take a pounding in India and replaced Smith the morning of the 2nd Test in Mohali, to protect him.
-
Top stuff from Prior. Wouldn't swap him for any other No 7 in the world!
-
Well batted Matty Prior!
-
Well batted Matty Prior!
Nice
-
Haha Swann taking the piss now. :D
-
And Tremlett
-
Sometimes I don't think Johnson would get in my club's 2nd team
-
This is the very very entertaining ! , most entertaining cricket for a while now ! the tail is killing the attack , 20 off last over says it all ! :D
-
Haha Swann taking the piss now. :D
Not as much as that ball from Hilfenhaus, that's 5th team standard.
-
sorry , but that first 1st wicket has just summed up Australia's series ,
absolutely shocking running and communication ! :D
start the car will be over shortly ;)
-
Thats it , game over Clarke gone ,
Australia 124-4 . i think they'll be Lucky to see day out , Anderson reverse swinging the ball now !
-
should Hughes have sacrificed his wicket for Watson?
-
Yes Watson is the better player and in better form but was a silly run out anyway
-
hussy gone , as I said , this will be over probably by lunch tomorrow ! ;)
-
haddin gone , maybe finished tonight ? :D
bumble going crazy !
WAT A NUT BY TREMLETT , JOHNSON GOLDEN DUCK
tremlett on ha trick
-
Got to let us claim the extra half hour
Yes yes yes yes
-
roco ,
finished tonight ?
-
If they let us claim the extra half hour I think we can do it as no top order left
-
i hope the umpires allow it ,
siddle managed to keep a beauty out for tremlett hat trick , you been up all night mate ?
-
The umpires have allowed it just get bresnan out Anderson in with the tail
-
Tremlett really swinging that ball !
Anderson will destroy that tail
-
Tremlett has found an extra yard of pace up at 90mph at the min never seen him bowl so quick
-
looks like Anderson getting loose ,
yeah hes close to 90.0 mph , so , you reckon acc will have a major clear out after this match then ?
Pointing and smith gone !
-
Not their way to have a mass clear out but no test cricket till next august so plenty of time for them to think
8 overs to go get Anderson in for bleeps sake
-
Bresnan looking very ordinary in comparison to tremlett ???
-
would have been great if Tremlett got his hat-trick..... Siddle did well digging out that 89mph in swinging yorker first up
-
haha ! , see all the en England fans there ,
free day today and its all English fans hardly no Aussies in sight ! :D
give it half hour i reckon , ( if rain stays off) !
-

In hotel so listening to 5~Live commentary! And looks like the jokes have started!!!
What do you call an Aussie with a century?
A bowler!!
What do you call an Aussie with a bottle of Champagne?
A Waiter!
What do you call a World Class Aussie cricketer?
Retired!
A bit harsh but we have had 20 years of it so a bit of payback doesn't hurt!! ;)
-
How can England score 3 centuries on the same pitch that Australia could only get one 50 on???
It just doesnt add up and shows how weak Aus are at the moment!
-
i really do hope this goes off ! cant be bothered waiting up all night >:(
-
Bloody rain. Go Away.
-
Back out. C'mon. Only 3 wickets. Before lunch. They're tailenders for crying out loud....
-
Need. A. Wicket. Not. Lots. Of. Runs.
We are bowling like Australia at the moment....
-
Steve Smith looks crap - even dodgier technique then Hughes, and with seemingly less of a concentration span
-
c'mon new ball!
-
New ball due soon , take it wipe them out lets go home !
simple !
-
3 more overs after this one....
-
Siddle seems to low in the order. He could become better than Johnson in the near future
-
Wasn't that what Richie Benaud was saying?
-
what do you call an Australian with a bat in his hand?........a vet.
-
Siddle is the 5th highest scorer in the series for the aussies. That's pretty incredible....
-
C'monnnnnnnnnnnnnn!
-
was good shot , but picked him out did he ?
i give it 15 mins max now ! ;)
-
What do you call an Aussie who stays out on the wicket all day?
Groundsman!
-
GOOOOOOOOOOOONE!
-
Swann, Swann will tear you apart, again.......
-
Ally Cook series average 127.67!!!!!
-
What is the difference between Cinderella and the Aussies? Cinderella knew when to leave the ball.
-
Colesy, listening to Michael Vaughan on TMS?
Hear the big lad sing the high notes!
-
Would like to see our fast bowlers bowl more aggressively to tailenders, can we not work a player over?
-
Lets give credit to smith here
hes stuck in unlike the rest of them , i really admire this innings from him ,
fighting right till the end !
-
What I'd give to be in the crowd now. Couple of Tom's mates are there :(
-

-
I'm with Warney. Cook and Anderson Joint!

I know a few..... Gloating has already started!!!! ;)
-
I am so gutted I don't know any Aussies
I'm as bad, I have a good Aussie friend and he truely could not care less about cricket, so it is pointless.

-
Yep.
-
As an aussie living over here in the UK - all i can say is, well played & england fully deserved to win....outplayed in every department. Fair to say im going to be getting a fair bit of stick over here...Cook for man of the series.
-
woooshhhh
-
Sorry what's going on I was watching the Nz vs Pakistan on the red button ??? Have we won yet lol
No, Smith scored 185 from 15 overs to win for them....
-
Sorry what's going on I was watching the Nz vs Pakistan on the red button ??? Have we won yet lol
lol, i would never have guessed matey ;)
-
I'd send that off to the press mate an Aussie humble in defeat.....surely not ;)
-
When it rains, it really pours down on the Aussies - Clarke quits as T20 captain!
-
Gotta feel for Ponting, 3 times now.
-
Gotta feel for Ponting, 3 times now.
More importantly, Ponting, the ONLY aussie captain to lose the ashes three times....
-

The standard reason on this forum given for a team not winning is 'because they're not India'. That may offer you some comfort. :D

-
LOL! To be fair, English cricket is on the way up! Congratulations have to go to Andy flower and Andrew Strauss for what they have done to that team. Turned it round completely.
-
Michael Vaughan is the best player EVER for England. No-one dispute because he is <3 :D
Well done Cookie!
-
Former great Michael Vaughan....little cheep shot there!!!
Yes, and Vaughan stared him down....

-
What a cock mark Taylor is...kick a bloke when he's down why don't u!
-
Strauss big bonus ? :-[
-
Wouldn't have minded if he said it to Ponting
-
But what is it with Aussie cricketers and the inability to say 3 words without saying 'look' or 'listen'?
-
What a cock mark Taylor is...kick a bloke when he's down why don't u!
Isn't he just....
He's not used to humility and losing....
-
Very disappointing series from an Australian supporters point of view, however I agree completely with the sentiment that we were outplayed in every department. Englands batsmen, in particular Cook, showed great concentration and application, while to bowlers gave very little away and created pressure. Congralutions to England. Australia will have a very difficult next few years.
-
get the sprinkler out lads ;)

Thanks!!!! It goes in cycles... WI, then Aus. For the time being SA and India are at the top. Maybe it will be England next.
-
Botham's almost in tears talking about the little urn.
Heads forward. One dayers, World Cup and the Summer Series to come. Bring it on!

totally agree, never like losing at any stage but you need to tip your hat and say way too good sometimes and England were in a different class all series. The batsman forced us to bowl to them and could never build pressure at any stages. Bowlers were outstanding to have 2 guys not play the first 2 test and come and dominate shows the depth that is in their squad compared to the aussies.
Fielding i was at the Adelaide test and you could tell the difference English looked like they loved being out in the field and were all jumping around and pounced on anything even when they wernt on top. Aussies had poor body language and have never seen us field so bad b4.
we have had it too good for so long with the likes of warne and McGrath that many cant see the fact that we dont have the cattle as we once did and there should be no shame in admitting that
-
no champers ?
forgetting an award ?
no individual medals ?
can you tell australlia lost ?
