First of all may I just say hallelujah!! Were back online.
Saturday brought another visit to Roberts workshop for Fletcheruk's new bat. I'll leave the details to the man himself. Whilst there Simmy (we cant go anywhere if it isnt together :)) got busy with his slr and took some pics of the workshop and Mr pack hard at work. Anyway I hope you all enjoy them and hopefully it will give you all a little insight into robs setup and the workload he carries for himself,Puma and his professional customers.

Which Puma models does Rob finish or shape?
-
High-end 5000s and 6000s I think. Liam or Simmy, or fletch I guess, will know for definite.
-
Rob gets clefts for 5000 and 600 and finishes off the high end 4000 models
-
any ideas if there is a train station nearby ???
-
Ok great thanks. Does he do all 5000 + models himself?
-
PW will correct me if I'm wrong but I believe that he makes all puma bats from the 4000 series up to the 6000.
Very happy with the service and end product. 13 nice straight grains, 2.8 with nice big edges (for the weight) and superb pickup. I'll upload the full pics and review if u get time tomorrow. Had a little knock up with it today and it looks like its going to be a beast :d
-
closest station is wellingborough(sp)
-
As far as I know the 5000 and 6000 are sent as handled clefts to be made by rob, the 4000 are Indian made and the best are finished by Rob
-
Really nice set up and good to see he is happy to show off the facilities.
Noticed a new Puma Iridium grip on a new looking bat, meant for a county/international?

cant wait to see those pics! Beautiful bat there, what a cracker (not literally!)
IMO someone who can make a 'big' 2.8 bat has real tallent and knowledge. Lets face it, what bat maker of note cant make a big thick bat weighing 2.12
-
Received this email from Rob today, this should clean up any questions regarding the puma bats and responsibility rob has as the head Batmaker.
'Just so you know lad,
I select all the willow for Puma's UK production.
These are all then graded before being handled & pressed and selected for the 3 Puma profiles.
I make 90% of the 5000, 100% of the 6000's and around 80% of the 4000's. Hope this helps Liam.....then all players are looked after by us......
Best Regards,
Rob Pack

Interesting, one always assumes these big brands such as Puma have massive sales, but if one bloke makes the vast majority of their top 3 grades, there can't be that many.
-
They will have massive sales, but not of 6000s as most cannot afford these..

Yeh but he makes most of the 4s and 5s too. Factor in his own brand, that is not alot of bats.
-
Orders come in the thousands for each range at times from what I heard

you would be suprised how many he knocks out in a month mate.
on sat he said he would not be able to do any blue rooms for 2-3 weeks due to having to get all the puma orders finished
