Title: what levels does everyone play at? and for what teams?

i still consider myself new to the forum and want to get to know what standard of cricket people play at? and for what teams :)

Post by: captainofcricket2011kse on February 10, 2011, 09:40:44 PM: I play in Cambridgeshire Senior League 1. We play against a lot of teams with pros, and many who have played 2nd 11 County Cricket. I play for Wilbrahams CC and as a small village we hold our own very well!

Im an offie too, and its hard at club level because what I see as a good ball seems to get hit, but a poor ball doesnt! Frustrating! Bat a little higher, about 5 and give it a whack!

Took 20 wickets, which was a little disappointing, but I didnt bowl in about 6 of these games so not too bad!

I was their overseas player in 2007, went back home (nz) for 18 months, came back for the 09 season as their overseas player again and have ended up staying over here, this will be my 3rd season in a row for them,

came over as a opening bowler, batting 7,8,9.
then ended up opening the batting and bowling
now im a batting 5 and bowling offies!!! haha

A lot of travelling involved, on average about 2 hours every away game! But a competitive league with decent grounds... except ours!

Arn't the ECB Premier Leagues for 1st XI's only?

Post by: MineheadCricket on February 11, 2011, 09:38:21 AM: In our league the 2nd XI runs parallel to the 1st XI league, meaning reverse fixtures. From this tear though I believe teams can get promoted/relegated and not have to worry about 1st XI's position?

Post by: johan95 on February 11, 2011, 08:45:48 PM: I play for Highgate CC in North London. Due to my age (15) I have just started to play adult cricket, so last year, I was a yo-yo player and I played at all standards, from the 5s inclusive to the 2s. Almost played in our 1s as well :D
I more play for the enjoyment of the game, but I like to strive to be the best I can possibly be :)

Settled for 2nd XI mid division mediocre before playing Sussex Invitation 2nd XI 1st Division for Ifield. Now happy enjoying my cricket in Wetherby Division 5 :-) for Headingley CC.

Does someone called Colin Abraham play for you?

I played a couple of games for Old Modernians whilst I was at uni in Leeds.

Still a possibility though if you have a couple of good seasons at 1s level mate :) - very good to be playing county, I'd love to, but need to hone my skills I think..plus I hear you have to be super-fit! Not something I am unfortunately, have to get in the gym I suppose! :)

Might start looking for a new club tbh, dislike playing under a different captain every week, especially when they stick you out on the boundary all innings then bat you down at 8.

Post by: A-Swing-And-A-Miss on March 20, 2011, 06:54:15 PM: Last year I took the leap from Youth to Adult cricket, I play for Mulbarton CC in Division 3 of the Sunday Mid-Norfolk league.

We only have 1 team and don't play on Saturdays due to numbers, however we aren't a bad team and for since the team clinched promotion a few seasons ago from division 4 we have been comfortable mid-table.
