Title: Virat Kohli's bat
Post by: yvk3103 on February 20, 2011, 01:58:33 AM
This is the biggest bat I have seen anyone using in the international circuit.

http://www.espncricinfo.com/icc_cricket_worldcup2011/content/image/501948.html?object=381449;page=2

it is huge....

I am very sure he does not use a heavy bat, so this bat has a lot of woog for a 2.10 or even a 2.11 (but i think it will be more of 2.9/2.10)

do we know who makes the bats for Nike players?
or could it simply be absolutely anything and he stickers them up?
what did Kohli use before Nike?

BAS ? as gloves are BAS

pads are SG but his bat doesn't have the SG stamp on the edge (ala Sewags bat) so BAS is probably a good bet.

Its not necessary to have BAS or SG bat if you are using there pads

we know that, what we don't know is what bat it IS.

It could be anything, Nike are having bats made in England and India and we all know these players use any brand of bat they want plus sponsors stickers.

The bat looks big, very dry but nothing impossible as the Indians still favour a big edge coupled with low spine in their bats.

the edges did look huge, i wound sky+ back a few times to see his on one of his pull strokes, i was gobsmacked! But big isnt everything, so i am told!

Off topic, but why do Indian players tend to have a mismatch of kit? Most other international players from the other big nations are tied to one brand (although we all known the bat isn't necessarily the same brand)

could possibly be a bas vampire  as he is related to the kohli family who own Bas

i don't think he is related to the family. Taruwar Kohli who opened for the winning side in the U19 WC2008 is part of the BAS family.

are Taruwar and Virat not related then?

Kohli seems to sometimes use a GM catalyst with Nike stickers on top (shoddy sticker job if you ask me!)

Although I'm not sure it's the same as the other "monster" bat

i saw his spyder bats when i was last down at the shop with gary, some very nice willow i think he gave him a new batch while he was over here in england for the trophy, also saw virat kohli's spikes which were nike trainers which gary had spiked, so i wouldnt be suprised if kohli has a few spyder bats knocking around

Dhoni picked up a couple of Spyders when they came over for the ICC.

Gary wanted to sell me a Dhoni bat when I went down, tried hard to resist

A better view:

http://www.espncricinfo.com/tri-nation-west-indies-2013/content/gallery/647085.html (http://www.espncricinfo.com/tri-nation-west-indies-2013/content/gallery/647085.html)

To me it looks like a bit of SRT profile.

I think it is because their sponsorship deals cover the bat only.
