personally iv only ever been in a situation where i could have walked once, and this was playing for a mates 3rd team as i went to leave a ball and nicked it on way to keeper. old umpire didnt pick up on the nick so i just stood there with an exagerated leave (mind the spelling)

it frustrates me at times when it really matters tho. for example our no.3 is a class act, older bloke and has always walked, and always advised our youngsters and juniors to walk. but in one important game whilst set he was wrongly given out caught behind after hitting the floor. you can imagine his frustration, and ours watching from the sideline knowing that if there was a genuine edge he would have walked
we then went on to lose the game

i cant decide whats best to do, like some people have stated its swings and roundabouts. you get some bad decisions which may influence you not to walk in the future. but then again its not really within the spirit of the game and doesnt reflect well on yourself from an oppositions point of view

Haha, first time I've heard "what goes around comes around, so don't ever take the moral highground" :P Haha

I've always walked, if I wanted to be a deceptive (No Swearing Please), I'd play poker, not cricket

The whole "i get bad decisions" is an epic cop out. Umpires don't make mistakes unless batsmen do.

Noone has ever been given caught behind leaving or lbw hitting a 4 through midwicket.
I always have a laugh at people who feel they are so unlucky given caught behind. If you are swinging and missing, its not the umpire who is having a poor game and making bad decisions.

its ok saying that but im refuring to stumpings and run outs

not jus caught behind and lbw.

the amount of times ive had stumpings last year and i no they where out and and the umpire has not given it so no chance i am walking if its a small nick

I walk if I feather it through to the keeper. They hear it behind me and I hear it, so why bother to wait for the correct decision! Plus, if the Umpire didn't give it, then the keeper, slips and I would know, so it would be worse to stay!!! For LBW I leave it to the Umpire to decide, as they have a better view than me.
I have been given out twice last season when I know I wasn't out - once when it missed the ball and because it swung as it went past my bat, the keeper claimed the catch and the umpire gave it even though I had missed!! And the second time was LBW when I took a huge step forward and to leg side (where the ball was heading) and it hit my thigh (I'm 6'3+) so it was too high, too leg-side, and I was down the track! But was still given!!
Actually just remembered a third.....full toss and I raised my arms and bat up otherwise it would have hit me around the bicep area. It deflected from my left are downwards and just caught the bail as it went through. And a no-ball wasn't called from the square leg umpire!!! I wouldn't mind but the bowler apologised straight away for bowling a huge no ball and the square leg umpire was on my team......D1ckhead!!
But I'm sure I've also had the benefit of the doubt occasionally too!!

Always walk and always have. We are fortunate to have an umpire for the seconds I play in who umpires almost every game. To be fair to him he is very down the line and often will be biased towards the opposition so that nobody can him acuse him of anything. He knows that I walk and there have been a few occasions including the final game of this season where I have walked and after the innings he admitted that he would not have given me out.  But I would like to think that when there are occasions where he thinks I might have nicked it, but I don't walk he doesn't raise his finger.

I know I could not walk after nicking one and he would possibly not give me out, but that would break a hard earned trust. Plus I field in slip most of the game and absolutely hate it when player nick and don't walk. I don't want to be one of them!

i propse we get a 3rd umpire for stumpings and run outs
nothings worse than having a stumping turned down by 75yr old umpire who cant see past the end of his nose
