a) buy a Laver&Wood - awesome bats, with freakishly thin handles, so I reckon you could have your lucky 2 grips, but it would still have the feel of one

b) to achieve the same effect without having to turf out big money on new willow, you could get the handle on your current bat shaved to a thinner diameter. I believe batrepairs.com can offer this for you, as Previn has recently had it done on his CF

It might be more than a mere superstition.

I had a laver and I scored pretty heavily with a single grip but never felt comfortable. It felt really good with two grips in terms of balance but never got going in terms of scoring runs.

Recently found this excellent article from Andy and realized that I messed up with COP[the point of least vibration] of the bat and by putting two grips COP actually moved up.

In nut shell, adding up extra grip or counter weight might mess up with the bat COP, unless one has a bat with a really long middle.
Unfortunately, Laver special profile, has a pretty limited middle and I would not suggest any alteration in terms of grips/ counter weights.

I have to agree with Mad Abt Cricket here. Each grip is around 1 ounce. You may want to check your bat weight first. As you mentioned in your post 1 grips give you more control even though you scored 50 with 2 grips. Once you are comfortable with your bat your technique and timing will improve and runs will flow... :) and to support your superstition (if this is an option )you may want to use a bat which is 1 ounz lighter so that you can have 2 grips and cover that angle as well lol..

Great info!!! Basically what you use on 1 bat stick with that and don't chop and change
