GM RSB Original Pads
« on: August 13, 2012, 06:28:55 AM »

I've been using these pads the second half of the season and they are still quite stiff and doesn't really have that "wrap around" feeling or look.  Just wondering if anyone else has these and did they get any better.  Is there anything else I can do other than wearing them and breaking them in for a longer period?

Do you just throw them in your bag afterwards?

@junter97: I air them out overnight and then in my kit bag till next game.  Does that make a difference?

I like them but they are a bit stiff, but the weight and protection is top notch.  Straps are of good quality and the pads don't shift during running.  Inner padding is movable and anatomically shaped so the knee rests comfortably.  Finish and stitching seems pretty good, but only time will tell how well they fair.

So you don't strap them up again before they go in the bag? I do this and I find it makes them wrap around your leg more, you have to tighten them quite a bit though.

This, as standard with all new pads!

Yeah I haven't been strapping them tight when I put them in the kit bag.  I'll give it a try, thanks.

@Watsontotty: I have also contemplated the two/three strap pads.  I sometimes find that the three strap type to be a little uncomfortable at the calf area.  I've never worn top of the line three strap type, perhaps they are more comfortable.  I like these pads quite a bit, they feel awesome during matches, never had to readjust during play.  This is my first foray into molded pads, and I like them so far.  I really wanted a pair of morrantz but they were a bit pricey for me but overall happy with the GM's.

Having a set of GM three straps and the Puma two straps, I'd have to say that I do like only two straps a lot more than I thought. No strap rubbing behind the knee and they stay on just fine!

Which Puma's you got, I've got the Puma Iridium 6000's which are two strap and I find them much more comfortable.
