Interesting ball from Bresnan hey.

New Zealand posting 359-3, supposed to be 2nd in the world vs 8th!

Seriously poor, even if they did get a little luck. Nothing to say about Dernbach...

That Guptill knock was just super. Highest ever ODI score by a kiwi, too - 189no.

Dernbach. What is the point of him? Seriously.

Great knock by Guptill after a poor test series. He's a good player to watch.

Think 2 spinners with treadwell playing would have been a better option. But Dernbach is the "specialist" death bowler. Keeping his record of the most expensive odi bowler in the history of the game intact.

Nice consistency stat: Jade Derbach has now passed 50 15 times in 24 ODI's

I don't believe that Woakes is all that he is made out to be. Dernbach is simply not good enough as statistics will back up. Who from the county scene is good enough to be pushing Anderson, Broad, Finn and Bresnan? I can think of a few who could be in the picture with the likes of Meaker, Onions and Tremlett who is only just coming back from his injury? If Chris Jordan can continue his form that would be great.

All I will say is that if there's ever been a day to score runs it is today. Come on Cook and Bell!

Just had a look at the averages for the YB40 this season. Shazad, Jordan, Onions, Tremlett & Rankin have bowling averages under 20. Yet Bresnan and Dernbach average over 45. How are they, particularly Dernbach anywhere near the England starting team. I realise that consistency in selection is important in developing a team, but it just seems the selectors are unwilling or too lazy to look else where.

botham tweeted this side earlier:

Cook,Trott,Bell,Root,Morgan, Bairstow , Prior, Broad / Bresnan, Swann, Anderson, Finn / Onions

id say swap out prior for james taylor and let bairstow keep and give that side a run, its a stringer side than what turned up in this series and taylor is in good nick for notts in the yb40

then rest of the squad; buttler shazhad, rankin, meaker, tredwell, wright,
