I got lucky with my net kit this year picked up some recoil 900 pads off sports direct for under 30 notes and there really really good, plus also added some 5 star oblivion e41 gloves sausage finger style really lightweight and very flexible gloves, would recommend both of these.

I suppose the question boils down to what do you look for in a pad. Do you mind sacrificing style and protection for a lightweight pad? Or are you wanting to sacrifice weight for a traditional weight that is nice on the eye and is very well protected?
As said on here the SS embossed pads are really really good quality, as well as most top end kookaburra and GM pads. To be honest though it's like everything, you get what you pay for....but there is some bargains to be had

Wow...thanks for all the feedback. I was hoping by doing this it'd make my rescission easier, but it seems to have thrown up options I didn't even consider.

I've gone away and had a look and these are what's taking my fancy. Remembering I'm wanting the pads and gloves to match and not be a mix.
In no particular order.

GN legends/test
Newberry SPS 1
Affinity/Ayrtek (used a pair of Ayrteks this season and liked)
bb trad pads ,modern gloves
Salix pod players
AJK
Puma platinum 6000
Red ink le/pyro pads, pyro gloves
Kook kahunas
H4L NV pro
Aldred

I love the look of the b3 pads but really not sold on the gloves.

Think I'm going to find it hard to narrow these down.

I'm in a fortunate position as I'm in Aus my season is over, however I'm back in the UK for 2 weeks in September. I'm planning on purchasing at that time, perfectly timed for end of UK season sales and start of Aus season.

Means I've only got 6 months to decide!

One would think that asking a question on this forum about something makes it easier for them to decide but it's actually the opposite. So many options from so many top class makers. Never easy my friend!

Oh, and I love the SS Gladiator gloves.

If you are here at that time of year and taking back to Aus, then I'd suggest a brand that is difficult to get hold of over there, probably one of the sponsors.

B3 pads are more protective than most of the pads shown what your after(Look in the vulnerable area just under the knee if you own the pads tell me where the bolster finishes if you don't believe me.)

Gloves are good too there very well protected and light both models but there some great products on the market.

I have been lets say pad stalking and doing various bits of research on pads including taking some apart.

Like many have said depends what you want you can get pads that look the dogs and feel the dogs but protect very little or get pads that are designed to protect.

Cheers for the info. Seems as tho you've been doing some serious nerding up on pads!

So let's say I want the pads that look the dogs, feel the dogs and protect...what would your pick be? (If money was no issue)

Looking around I really like the look of the b3 pads, I'd say they are my number 1 pick, but I'm just not convinced by the gloves. The ones on their website anyway. However I am aware they are bringing new softs out for 2014. Would love to have a look or see some reviews.

I have the both the new and old gloves mate there  very good I liked the sausage. New version and also the new splits .

I was always sceptical about the gloves until Russell a man with 20 years experiance showed me the actual design protection he out ino it.

Things like the vunrable areas and added protection .

B3 pads look traditional but there underlying protection is outstanding and there my pad if choice.

I know of other pads which are decent too but my advice is check behind the knee bolster and see where te bolter extends to.

Look at side wing protection as well and that form or plastazote.

I don't like sausage gloves. Do you have any pics or links to the new split gloves? I have see a video on YouTube from b3 about the split gloves but it's not great.
