This year it is time for me to upgrade both my pads and my gloves. So I've decided to match my softs and buy a set.
I was wondering what combo people think are the best.
Best looking and performance.
What would people get if money was no object and what's the best for a reasonable price?

A lot of it will come down to what style floats your boat - sausage or split gloves - traditional minimalist colour or more 'in your face'. I must admit that where gloves are concerned I'm coming to the belief that you maybe get the protection that you pay for.

I've just strapped on a new pair of Blank Bats pads. Really light and very good protection. The gloves should be with me next Saturday. They feel really comfy.

Pound for pound it's a lot of really good kit for a great price.

I too prefer split finger gloves, and many people on here will probably make many recomendations for different brands they have tried.

Personally I like suppleness and flexibility from the off. Over the years from the brands I've tried on I've found at the upper end (for me)  Blank Bats and Salix have been superb, in the mid range I really like SS and SF stuff.

I also tried on the B&S stuff Jake at Vitas had in and that was pretty good.

Overall, if I was watching the pennies, I would say you cannot go wrong with anything SS made.

Worth checking out the Red Ink kit in the section. Traditional pads and split finger gloves without any garish in your face colours.

My mates blank bats gloves lasted 1 net.
The pads are superb though!


B3 are up there. Gm originals too. Both fine sets I've used in the last two years.

I am using Newbery softs currently and they are very comfy - You'll find the vast majority of pads out there are very similar. You'll end up judging the pads purely on the aesthetics.

I've recently been converted to the sausage finger...not like that...

I most recently used a set of Kook K1000s and thought they were amazing, but recently bought a set of SS LEs (the blue sausage ones). I have to say, I was stunned as to how comfortable they were. Maybe not as flexible as the kooks but still pretty good. really a big fan now.

As for pads, I love the look of Newbery's kit (i have a set of Thruxtons) but would, in an ideal world, go for Salix every time. I guess that puts me in the traditional camp!

Comfy they are, but do you find the pads heavy? I've sold my SPS pads purely on weight.

I use the TT pads and I find them quite light on the legs. I tried the SPS but found them to be heavier. But you do have a good level of padding because of it.
